I ordered carry out and had great hopes. It's difficult to find good Chinese food in Victoria. Bejing Garden is on Main Street surrounded by lovely restaurants, shops, and bars. I hoped it was another jewel of the revitalized downtown. I was so disappointed. I ordered staples of Americanized Chinese food, sweet and sour chicken, pot stickers and hot an sour soup. The sweet and sour looks like chic-fil-a nugget: no veggies or pineapple which seems to be a staple normally-, the rice is cold and gloopy, the sweet and sout sauce had a old oil flavor. Like it was stale? It was fluorescent orange and just sweet- no other real flavors. The hot and sour soup was just strange. Again the stale oil back note and just off. The pot stickers were edible. Y'all, this terrible meal was $30. Actually it was $28.50 but the tacked on a fee for paying with my debit card though there was no notice of this anywhere, just a note that said I could only use a credit/debit card for orders over $10. Guys, this was just aweful. If a restaurant can't make the most commonly ordered menu items then I hate to think what had happened of I had ordered something that required a bit of finesse. If I could give zero stars I would have. I will not be returning. read more

Probably the worst plate of Chinese food I have ever been served. I had the chicken and shrimp with cashews. It was a plate full of tough old carrots diced too large. There was one lonely shrimp swimming in a watery brown sauce with a puny portion of diced chicken. Even the fried rice was pitiful with no trace of egg or vegetables. The highlight of the lunch was the egg roll! However, there was nothing offered to put on it...no hot mustard or sweet sauce. My wife had the chicken chow mein, which she characterized as "just OK at best". Too bad, I was really looking forward to some good Chinese food for lunch, how disappointing! read more

I have never had a bad meal at Jimmy's (Beijing Garden. I like that I can ask for a selection to be cooked different from the normal and it is prepared to my liking. The portions are just right for me and I also like the many different combinations I can put together to get the meal I want. Jimmy and his wife are fun to visit with and are an interesting couple. I also like Jimmy's In-Laws and I enjoy spending time with them when they are at the restaurant. Keep up the good work. read more

This place provided my Friday night Chinese food fix for years (until I moved). They're now one of my 'must go' places any time I'm back in town. I absolutely LOVE their food! When you order, you can specify how you like it and actually get it cooked that way. Try that somewhere else and see what happens. Jimmy and his wife are excellent hosts and they always appreciate seeing you. You get plenty to eat and it's reasonably priced. There's something special about their downtown location, too. It feels more like a 'date' when you eat there because you're not in the mall area. Highly recommended!!! read more

For victoria, best Chinese food there is. Beats the awful buffets and the other few random sit down places should just go ahead and open up as buffets. They are not fancy or exotic, but they are simple in the way you enjoy and appreciate. A restaurant that can make simple dishes taste good is way better than a restaurant trying to act up-scale and failing miserably. This is the former. Fresh ingredients cooked simply should be their slogan. Water chestnuts, button mushrooms, broccoli, peppers sauteed into your dish of choice in a good sauce. (brown (savory garlic) white (buttery delicious) and a orange type sauce that is sweet and spicy (gan shao i think) great fried eggrolls by the way. very fair price good hot and sour soup super friendly local owners who will treat you right and who will customize your order to your liking. there are also off menu items that are good lastly, not sure what is up with the facebook link but that is not their menu. simple and delicious - eat here weekly sometimes more also one last note and edit in response to a couple of the other reviews - these people are actually from china....and just because they dont act like "everyone else" doesnt mean they are being rude. After the treatment that was received today my team and I will never go back to this restaurant. We are active military members, as well as a member of the Local Law Enforcement community, and the unprofessional and deliberately rude behavior received when we had a question about our ticket was completely uncalled for. Funny, since the people in the profile picture are the same people you will see there. Lies and deceptive business, the only outstanding item here is the duck, the rest...
