So glad to have found Behave Atlanta! Lillian was wonderful in helping with my rescue pup Willow's severe separation anxiety. We worked closely for several months with frequent check in's, daily missions and new challenges as she was able to tolerate more and more time apart with patience and expert guidance. After adding a second rescue pup with her own unique needs to the mix, we sought additional training with Lillian and Amy for basics, leash training/reactivity, interacting with new pups and overcoming some fears. Highly recommend their services and expertise!

    Rocky's 4th session with Behave!

Amy and Lillian have really improved my dog and I's life through our training sessions. My Australian Shepherd Rocky has been struggling with reactivity towards strangers and dogs for a couple years. We did 4 sessions with Behave so far and have made great progress. Amy and Lillian are so kind and made me feel understood and not alone in having a reactive dog. They are patient and flexible in finding what worked for my dog and I. They listened and took detailed notes, videos and pictures to help us on our journey. The best part is the session write ups they give after each training session. They give tangible advice and suggestions that are manageable and not overwhelming. Our personalized training plan is well outlined and they provide so many helpful resources. We will be continuing to work with them, I am so happy I chose Behave!!!

Amy and Lillian are fantastic and super knowledgeable! As new puppy parents to Stanley at the height of the pandemic, we were very thankful for our virtual consultation with Behave Atlanta to get some helpful tips and great advice. Based on their recommendations, we were able to acclimate Stanley to his new home with effective tools and strategies to help manage his puppy tendencies. Despite the challenges of no puppy classes and limited socialization, Stanley is thriving and living his best life. Highly recommend!

The training style used was also based on rewarding Moose with play rather than food or negative reinforcement, which I really appreciate and didn't know much about before. We couldn't be more pleased with the results. Highly recommend Dog Wizard and Sam!

Probably my highest review ever for a service I haven't used yet. hear me out…read more I just rescued a Rat Terrier puppy called Raffi from Texas, who showed signs of abuse and trauma upon arrival. I've parented/known many rescues in the past and never seen anything like the fear she exhibited. fully freaked out, I shot a message to Atlanta Dog Wizard with an SOS to help. Kat quickly got in touch and we had about a 30-min call, which provided me with INVALUABLE insight into my urgent situation. That information she gave me--keep in mind, I had paid no money for her advice or training to this point--gave me some practices I could use, right away, to make Raffi feel more comfortable. I still might officially use Atlanta Dog Wizard in the future, if Kat is any indication how the company does things. She has a passion for rescues and turning around challenging situations and making dogs (and humans) shine. Cannot recommend highly enough.

I was very excited when I first met with my trainer. Unfortunately, tools are not something that I…read moredid not necessarily want to use. I, myself, a novice, not a trainer, had been using a prong collar. I was jarred when she used the prong to correct my 10 month old puppy, and said he was in shock because she kept snapping the leash. That was a bit too much for me. However, when I asked the trainer what method they used, and I was told the LIMA method. I was confused as to why corrections with tools were being used. After reaching out to a few trainers, this is what I have found about the LIMA METHOD; There are technically 2 views on what this term means. The original definition has a hierarchy of things that must be done before going to usage of tools of discomfort such as prong collars and the like. The newer more common conversation has left the hierarchy behind and does not allow for use of such tools at all. So I was definitely not understanding why the trainer seem led to be using the prong as a crutch to train. I was only using it for walking, and eventually would have liked to not use a prong collar at all. The trainer was definitely professional, but using tools to walk, place, sit, basically give any command was not something I was interested in. At one point when she kept snapping the leash on my youngest puppy, teaching him place I expressed that I had taught my other puppy how to be in place without doing that. My hope was that they would see if I can do it without snapping, a leash and a prong collar on the dog that they can do it too but the same behavior kept happening. I also let the trainer know that my other pup would bite if you tried to take food away that he found on the street, but we were not using that scenario at all when training. Since I am not a trainer, I can only go by what other trainers have told me. They have told me that unless I have aggressive dogs that are biting or trying to hurt others that prong collars are really an antiquated tool as is the e collar. Definitely no hard feelings. Just not the training method for me.

Scott got a great review on Next Door. he offers a 30 minute complimentary conversation by phone. we spoke a bit about Schatzi's problem. he suggested a 3 visit pkg and i couldn't get my credit card out fast enough. from our conversation, i knew i was in good hands. what was really great about Scott was it wasn't a 1 size fits all fix. he offers advice in between scheduled visits, either on the phone or text, if needed. i took advantage of that because i didn't want to be 'off track' on my part of the training. he tweaked the training when something wasn't working. the amount of time he gave me was amazing and he basically completely transformed my dog. feeding time is low stress now. Schatzi still is not 100% there but definitely more than manageable and the aggression and guarding is gone. this guy knows his stuff and Schatzi was putty in his hands. if you're ready to give up, don't, call Scott.

Over the past two years I have faithfully practiced the training techniques Scott taught me. You wouldn't believe the difference in Olive now. She is a happy, healthy and thriving little dog. She has progressed to the point where she can enjoy private agility lessons, playing with other dogs in dog parks, going to doggie day care occasionally and long walks with her human. She is still a little leash reactive when she sees another dog but no longer fearful, just excited. She continues to improve and I am confident she will become more dog neutral on lead in time. We enrolled Skippy in the 19-day residency program with hopes that we could better integrate Skippy into our active family, which includes young kids. Blake and the team were very professional and responsive throughout the entire process. I was initially hesitant with the training techniques, but I came to understand and embrace them after multiple discussions with Blake. During the 19-day residency program, we could see the strides that Skippy was making. After pickup and our own "training," we worked hard over the following weeks to make sure Skippy's training stuck and that the strides we saw online came through at home. Today, Skippy is able to take part in all aspects of family life, in and out of the home. He is well behaved, able to remain calm when needed (while still being his energetic fun self when it is time for that), and consistently follows all of his on and off leash commands. He sits, goes to down, comes when called, drops items on command that he would chew previously, walks perfectly on leash, doesn't jump on our kids or others, and has very good manners and a calmness that we rarely saw before. Our relationship with Skippy, which was very good before, has hit a new level. He is an even more-beloved member of the family now, and we owe a lot of that to the Prodigal Pooch team. I would add that we definitely put in the work to develop and reinforce the training at home, so I would really recommend this program for those that are serious about following through. If we get another dog one day, we will definitely be working with the Prodigal Pooch.

I knew Duck would be in good hands even beyond training as he's in home, there are only 4 dogs in residency at a time, etc. I also like to think that Blake obliged my friend & I when he allowed our pups to complete their residency together. After 19 days with Blake, Duck is calm, attentive, walks freely on his leash, knows all his commands (voice and hand), and bless Blake & Kelly for doing the Lord's work in helping Duck get through crate anxiety. My dog Buzz and I absolutely loved working with Betty at Canine PhD!…read more After reading so many glowing reviews for Canine PhD, I decided to give them a try after looking for positive reinforcement trainers near us in Decatur. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made for both Buzz and me! Buzz struggles with anxiety and reacts nervously when new people approach, especially on walks or in public places like restaurant patios. From our very first session, Betty made both of us feel comfortable and confident. She immediately recommended a no-pull harness that made a huge difference. Walking Buzz and his corgi brother, Phil, is finally fun again! I truly missed our morning walks, and it feels amazing to enjoy them again without constantly worrying about Buzz pulling away or Phil getting loose because my attention was elsewhere. What stood out most is that Betty doesn't just train dogs -- she trains their owners, too. She helped me learn how to communicate more clearly and understand what Buzz is feeling. Betty gave us exercises to build trust and confidence. He's already such a happy pup, but he lit up even more during each session, as you can see in his picture! You could tell how proud he was every time he got something right. The whole experience strengthened our bond even more, and I ended up enjoying training far more than I ever expected. Betty also gave us fantastic techniques to help Buzz stay calm when meeting new people, both out in public and at home. He's learned that his bed is his "safe spot," and now he'll go there on his own when guests arrive until he's ready to say hello. It's been such a big, wonderful change seeing him so much more relaxed and secure. We did three sessions at Canine PhD and three at home, which was the perfect balance. It gave us the chance to practice in both structured and real-life settings, and between sessions, we had Betty's helpful homework to reinforce what we were learning and keep us progressing even outside of training. The pricing was very reasonable and the value we got from the training far exceeded what we paid. What I appreciated most was Betty's honesty and empathy. She set realistic expectations right from the start, explaining that this wouldn't be a quick fix -- and she was right. Some dogs are just naturally more anxious, but she gave us the tools and confidence to help Buzz make real progress. I can't recommend Betty and Canine PhD enough! She's a wonderful person! Super patient, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in helping both dogs and their humans succeed. If you're looking for a trainer who truly understands behavior, builds trust, and brings out the best in you and your pup, Betty is the one to call!

***LONG REVIEW BUT WORTH THE READ***…read more This is my sweet, rowdy, rambunctious, and very demanding pup Rhodi! As a first time puppy owner, I just wanted to keep her happy. I let her get away with a lot! I quickly realized that I was not in charge of her but she was in charge of me. What I thought was being sweet was in Rhodi's mind "I can do whatever I want because I won't be punished for it." She would chew any object she could find, bark at me constantly when I wasn't doing what she wanted, would not listen to me when I would call her name, jumped on me and other people, tried to escape out the front door, and peed in the house. I watched videos upon videos but nothing helped! I was doing research on dog trainers and the first thing I thought was "this is so overpriced!" As a young college student with a rowdy dog, I was determined to find the best price with the most qualified trainer and I did! Bark Busters and specifically Cody are the best thing I could have done for both me and Rhodi. I was really nervous about having someone in my home "telling" me how to train my dog, but Cody TAUGHT me. If there was something I was struggling with, like leash training, he showed me an alternative way for me to get her to listen to me. The thought in my mind was "wow, he's not making me do it this way because it's the right way, but he found me a way that was Rhodi's right way I could do confidently." Cody was validating my feelings about not wanting to hurt Rhodi's feelings and continued to talk to me about ways that would not harm my dog or hurt her feelings. Simply being able to "talk" to Rhodi in a way she could understand that I was in charge and that she would still be safe and okay was the goal. In a matter of 2 hours Rhodi was trained! Cody did his job and now it's my turn to do mine with her by following through with the keys to success only Cody could have given to me.

Beyond being great with the dogs he makes you as the owner feel comfortable. He gives you the right techniques and confidence that change and obedience is possible. Cody's open and makes it clear that he is available from here on out if there is anything that I need. Was very nervous about having someone in my home and training my dogs. This was the best decision I could make for me and the boys!
