I used Inspectiver for a pre-purchase inspection on a used 2018 Equinox, and I'm glad I did. The report was thorough. It covered the exterior, interior, mechanical systems, and tires point by point, with comments and photos. The inspection found problems I would have missed on my own. The check engine light came on during the inspection, and the OBD scan showed trouble codes and smog monitors that weren't ready, which suggested the codes had recently been cleared. The inspector also found that three of the tires were original 2017 tires, worn and cracked, and unsafe to drive on, so the road test couldn't be done. The report also flagged brake pads that will need replacing soon, a TPMS warning, and several cosmetic issues. The summary was clear and to the point: the car wouldn't pass smog as-is and had significant issues. That gave me what I needed to walk away. For the cost of an inspection, it probably saved me thousands in repairs and a lot of frustration. I'll use Inspectiver again and highly recommend them to anyone buying a used car.

In fact, when I went down later to complete the purchase, the seller commented on how thorough Dennis had been with his inspection - even lifting the car up (on site!) to inspect the undercarriage. He spent I believe nearly two hours on it, making sure I wasn't buying something that was gonna have the wheels fall off five miles from the dealer. I had been a little nervous in searching for inspectors because most of the inspection companies I saw have iffy online reviews, and their websites have FAQs where they explain why their inspectors *don't* need to be certified mechanics. It's like, no, dude, I kind of wouldn't mind an inspector who knows what he's doing, thank you very much. But Dennis is the real deal, a certified, experienced mechanic with a deep resume, and the proof was in just how meticulous and perceptive he was with his work. Unfortunately, my experience with Steve was far from satisfactory. He arrived 20 minutes late and took over three hours to inspect the car. After checking my security footage, I saw he spent much of the time doing little, sitting in the car with the AC on, and repeatedly revving the engine. He also left fingerprints all over the vehicle during his inspection. I've worked with numerous inspectors and respect their expertise, but Steve's conduct was unprofessional. He even interrupted my wife, who was working from home, to have her come out and activate the turn signals to verify they worked--an absurd request for a supposed professional. Rather than providing a thorough inspection, Steve seemed more focused on driving the car and offering subjective opinions, like stating the car was "uncomfortable" and not ideal for long drives. A quick look at his past reviews reveals similar complaints. While his rates may be lower than those of a qualified mechanic or inspector, you get what you pay for. He left a mess on the passenger seat and called me with basic questions, such as why a red light indicated an open door, which any competent inspector should know. I'm writing this to spare others the frustration. For a reliable inspection, invest in a professional--it's worth the extra cost. I will not permit Steve to inspect any of my vehicles in the future.
