Went to Valvoline for a quick service before heading home. Attendant was extremely polite and efficient. Told me what they were doing each step of the process. Didn't try to upsell items but did ask about when wipers, filters, etc had been changed. Since all fairly new, did not try to sell replacement which was nice. Oil change was quick. Get to stay in car through the process which was nice. Only ding was the price. Could see the price listed for full synthetic. Had a $15 off coupon. They added a $10 oil filter charge so the price was essentially the same with or without the coupon. It was about $25 higher in total than my usual place.

The next morning (Sunday), I tried driving it and had no heat. I started getting warnings about it overheating. I let it sit and had intentions of taking it the next morning back into Valvoline to let them have it for ruining my car. However, on the way home I started to slowly lose power and luckily was able to pull off the highway. It completely died and I had it towed to a local auto place in Wooster (where I wish I had taken it to for this oil change - Vans Auto). Who informed me that the engine was shot. I immediately contacted Valvoline and filed an investigation. They even went to Vans to talk with them. They call me back and said "you can not prove it was anything we did. It would have eventually happed anyway" I am 100% convinced their work was a result of all of this. I am furious. They are not making this right. I had just gotten new tires and brakes on this, not to mention them talking me into paying for these extra things. I am not in a position to buy a new vehicle and feel they need to make this right. Even the auto place I had it towed it to was too coincidental that the area that they were working in didn't cause this. After talking with friends and family they too have had issues after having their car serviced here. Do not take your car here. Waiting area was extremely clean and comfortable & in no time at all they had found and removed the nail causing our problem, repairing it and getting us back on the road! "Caveat Emptor" Went to Fix-It with Fred for a needed oil change and the air conditioner was…read moreblowing warm air. Dropped the car off told them the problems and mentioned, when braking, the car pulled a little to the left. Later they called with a diagnostic fee which seemed a little high but wanted it fixed. Someone called back the next day told me they had changed the oil and recharged the air conditioning and found leaks at both Schrader valves which they replaced (part of the diagnostic fee I imagine) and I needed $2000 worth of brake work, (front pads and rotors, rear shoes and drums, front calipers, BG brake system service). My response was, "that is a third of what the car was worth, put it back together and the car will be picked up. A total of $2875.81 of work and parts were declined by me. " Just to be on the safe side, two weeks later the same vehicle was taken to another auto repair shop to have the brakes checked, their receipt says "Inspect brakes, approximately 50% -OK". The brakes are working fine. There is probably a large gap as to what is needed for vehicle repairs and what the manufacturers suggests and how much money you have.
