Divide and conquer: Clayton handled the flush...no problems there, while Kyle tackled the water hammer, which speculated might be the result of a faucet cartridge I improperly installed. But he checked everything...water feed under the sink and even pipes in the basement (which he snugged since it looked like one of them was loose). Then it was back to the sink and the faucet cartridge. The good news? I hadn't muffed the installation! I just looked like the part was a lemon. Better news? He had the part on hand. Even better news? Both projects cost less than expected, even without using a discount card I had forgotten was taped to the fridge. In. Out. Done and done, but not before they did a thorough check for leaks. They were followed by Josh who talked me through the wide variety of furnaces they offer. I tried to unclog it myself using several methods including a 15ft snake with no luck. I also paid someone from Plum-it that tried his best but kept getting interrupted by his head office. The woman answering the call put me on hold to 'check the schedule' only to come back on the line to tell me that since I had 'touched' the heater yesterday, Sunday, when it was 55 degrees in my house, and now they refused to work on my heater. She claimed people write negative Yelp reviews when they work on their own equipment and then bring Kendall in to fix the same equipment. She told me I was not a trained technician and proceeded to berated me for not calling them on a Sunday. I apparently was supposed to know they had 24/7 phone service!? The fact that I opened my heater door in an effort to get it working and not freeze affected their business. I understand that companies have their policies for their reasons, and I tried explaining that I was just trying to stay warm and was intending to buy a new AC/Heater set from them in the spring. But she continued in a rude tone, chastising me for not calling them on Sunday. Needless to say, I will NEVER USE KENDALL again. I found an incredibly helpful and responsive HVAC company elsewhere. I contacted Kuhn based on a recommendation from another plumbing company as their plumber had…read moreretired. I was looking at replacing 3 bathroom faucet cartridges, as I had one leaking and felt it was best to replace all 3 at once with one plumber visit. At first contact they requested I sent an email photo of the brand and they would have a plumber investigate and contact me with the replacement cartridges needed. I never heard back. I took a photo and put it in ChatGPT to find their recommendation and purchased them from Home Depot. I reconnected Kuhn and set up a time for a service call. The plumber came and after 30 minutes he informed me that the replacement cartridges I had brought were incorrect. He told me that the company will research the manufacturer and call me back with the product and costs. As I have a leaking faucet, how long would the turnaround be. His response was "we are not very good on that and it usually takes 2 to 3 months". I explained that my faucet is leaking and that is unacceptable. He said he will talk with his supervisor, but gave no guarantee or sense of urgency. I was charged a total of $263,25. The rate was $195 per hour. He was here a total of 45 minutes and charged me for travel time back to the shop. When I was quoted the price I was told it was for labor only and was not informed that it also included travel time, Overall, very disappointed that Kuhn felt it was acceptable to have a leaking faucet for 3 months, did nothing to fix the issue and have deceptive pricing.

I didn't really know why my storm drain was backing up and bubbling over from the recent heavy rains. So I called IU, and the owner was here in just a few minutes. Checked with his crew and brought them back within 30 minutes. After a rigorous, detailed effort, they diagnosed my problem within an hour. They could have started fixing the problem there, but they recognized a different issue in that my drain pipe had been cross-bored by my gas line. Although some less experienced companies would have just dived in and possibly severed the gas line (thus costing unnecessary damage, time, and money), they paused until we heard back from Nicor, who ultimately resolved the issue.
