Best ever dinner with show in Portugal. This dinner show restaurant is own by a famous Michelin star Portuguese chef José Avillez. The food is amazing with a lot of textures. We have total sixteen courses. Each course has different feelings and very creative. The Show: The show has four persons team. Most of them can dance and sing except one is very good dancer. The show was divided into segments. Begin with cabaret, fado, modern and mixed. The show is a plus to the dinner. Great performance. Some dance puppets dance. The dinner is amazing. We started surprising compliment dish - Minha Rose. The trick is to find out one paddle is eatable. Then follow by four courses of appetizers. I like the most is the taco and control candy four-gras. The main course includes flower paddle ceviche and OX tail are great item to have. They close with many appetizers such as strawberry lipsticks and more. Fantastic dinner experience. Find it hidden away in the back of two other restaurants. The cabaret has a small audience making this a lovely intimate experience. Once you are seated the tasting begins. It's mostly in English with some Portuguese introductions and songs. Some of the reviewers noted that this show was really more for men and some customers expressed moments of jealousy. The show is slightly different every night and we felt none of those things. If anything we were disappointed at how tame it was. The tasting menu was delicious. Every item creatively presented and quite delicious. Check out the pictures but they do not do it justice either. We got the wine pairing which was also really nicely done. We tried some uncommon Portuguese wines that so far (after a week in the country) we have not had a chance to try. If nothing else, the wine somm (gentleman with the 3' braided dreadlocks) made the wine and evening experience unforgettable. Lots of great conversation. Amazing experience from start-to-finish! From the moment we arrived, we were treated to a special event. We entered through a hidden door and were whisked into a dimly lit room, and treated to delicious food and an entertaining show. The service was fantastic! The Beco staff really worked together as a team by providing delicious food, sharing the ingredients without interrupting the show, taking drink orders, and seamlessly clearing and placing orders on the table. The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and worked well together. The food was Michelin star quality (from a Michelin star chef), provided more than enough to be filling, and was very reasonably priced. Moreover, it played on the cabaret theme by being presented in an innovative and creative way aligned with the theme (I don't want to give it away, but we were extremely impressed with the creativity of the dishes). Finally, the show was phenomenal! The team was extremely talented, funny, and kept the crowd engaged and entertained. Between the music, dancing, and showmanship, we felt that we walked away with an amazing night out and great value! We highly recommend Beco Cabaret Gourmet! One final recommendation - Beco is a little difficult to find. It is located in the back of the Avillez restaurant next door to the address. Magnificent, BEST meal and experience of my two week vacation. I purchased tickets ($250 Euros) a couple months in advance hoping to try Portugal celebrity chef Jose Avillez menus. This is his newest venture. 14 course tasting dinner and live entertainment. A tidbit: The chefs' great great grandfather opened the most elegant of clubs back in the 1900's, and BECO is inspired by its glamour and sophistication. Beyond my expectations from the very beginning. As we make our way into the address given on site, it is in the very back of Bairro do Avillez, behind a hidden secret curio cabinet cupboard. Think of it like a 1920's speakeasy. Glamorous venue, dimly lit. Unbeknownst to us, we are greeted by the hilariously rude (an act) master of ceremonies posing also as the maître de. He looks me up and down and looks at us with disdain (only because he turns 4 guests in front of us without advanced tickets away with a "shhhhaaaa". I mention we have a reservation, and he retorts with a snarl. Oh do you? I am loving this. His act is on par! We are then sat at a table close enough to the stage and in front of a faux dressing/powder room stage. About 20 tables in total, and only one reservation per evening, promptly at 8:30M, don't be late. André, our server from India, was helpful and very nice! They do not reveal the tasting menu ahead of time, so prepared to be surprised. If you any allergens or dietary restrictions, let your server know ahead of time, and they are very accommodating. I am allergic to capsacin (the seeds inside peppers). My only upset was that I wish I had requested a table closer to the stage, I was stuffed in the corner by the ladies powder room stage, and hard to see in front of the table in front of, I was dodging and sitting up in my seat often. (I'm 5'3). Our dining experience: The show, in between courses: Talented actors, engaging, and even stopping at our respective tables here and there. A bit risqué, but I loved every second of it. The show does not distract from the food, it's all part of the experience! 1. A beautiful centerpiece of a rose, and soft delicate apple inside! 2. Sunroot and mustard seeds. Crunchy thin root chip with exquisite filling. 4. Olive oil "ravioli", if you've seen molecular gastronomy, this is something fun. One gulp, and "squish" explosion in your mouth. 5. Foie gras with cotton candy and lyo raspberry. Super fun play with the candy! 6. Coastal prawn ceviche and flowers with yuzu honey, tigers' milk snow and lyo corn. Ceviche was born here. 7. LT yolk, artichokes, parm, and truffle. Every texture in the book. Plus shaved truffles. Yes please. 8. Tagliatelle with giant prawn, fennel, and caviar. Pretty dish, the seafood was perfectly cooked and firm to the bite. I didn't love the pasta. 9. Snapper (they served oxtail, but I'm allergic to hot peppers, so this dish was changed out), this was tasty enough, but I hear the oxtail was out of this world. 10. Mon Chēri, a frozen treat of what appeared to look like a cherry, but it was not. But, it was good! 11. Strawberry, chantilly cream, basil ice cream with a tuile basket on top. I think the chantilly was frozen with nitrogen, and the basil ice cream was super refreshing. 12. Diamonds are a girls best friend. Very cutesy, I think it was lemon sorbet in the shape of diamonds. 13. Lipsticks made of a fruit sorbet. Also, classy and creative. 14. Chocolate Pearl, served in a clamshell. Cute, but just a piece of chocolate. NOTE: drinks are not included in the price. A few of them tasty, but a few of them not as good. Spent an additional $45 EUROS on 3 drinks and water. read more

Beco Cabaret Gourmet was the best dining experience my wife and I have ever had. We are from the US and it was our first time in Portugal. I purchased our tickets in advance on their website which can be a little tricky to navigate. I suggest doing it on a desktop computer and switching to English version if you are in the US. Two dining tickets includes all food and the show, drinks are separate. Two tickets was $250 Euro but man it was so worth it. They served us 15 wonderful courses and had so many little surprises along the way. This place understands attention to detail and the service was amazing. Here are my pro tips: 1. Book in advance 2. Arrive at least 15-20 minutes early because it is located within another restaurant and can be a little hard to find. Go all the way to the back of the main restaurant and ask for the Beco Cabaret. You don't want to be late. 3. Order the cocktails, their pricey but delicious. 4. Ask for a table near the front by the stage 5. Go hungry because you will eat sooo much awesome food. I love the outstanding experience here: the staff is a mix of servers and actors, all devoted to entertaining! Dinner was a dozen courses spread out over hours of cabaret performances. The menu is overseen by Jose Avillez - I won't give away the many surprises - they were all delicious and unique - and the execution by the chef and kitchen was exquisite. Just had so much fun at beco. Came with my GF on our vacation and it was amazing. Amazing food by a Michelin Star chef, fun show by the performers at Beco, and just wonderful friendly service by the waitstaff. Can't recommend this more.
