10-4-2023 Drove 70 miles from Grants Pass to Beckie's (one-way) for lunch / dinner. No SPECIALS today! Menu had meatloaf on it, which is what I came there for; when I ordered, was told it was not available. The dinner menu was very limited. Chose their WINNER CHICKEN DINNER for $20.00. Upon receiving it I asked if a dinner roll or bread came with it and was told no roll / bread comes with this dinner meal, but they could make me some toast - I agreed to that. After quite sometime to be served, I was very disappointed, as the chicken was not cooked enough to be done. Had my wife try it & she agreed - very chewy, like bubblegum, and not done at all. Waitress was 'sorry' and said she'd let the cook know and that was the end of story! When the bill came, I was charged an additional $3.00 for an order of toast. Not pleased at all with this $23.00 dinner and offered no compensation at all. Have ate at Beckie's over the past 30 years, traveling to Diamond Lake and Crater Lake and this was my worst experience at Beckie's ever! Would not recommend and don't plan on returning ever to this establishment. In addition, my wife ordered the Fish & Chips (COD) for $16.00. - which I ate part of, as my chicken was not done. Considering the lack of choices around, this was surprisingly good! Casual food like fish & chips and burgers, but all above average flavor, plenty big, and pretty quick. Several outdoor picnic tables scattered in addition to the indoor tables. As a bonus outdoors, we got a bottle of beer for a very reasonable price from the camping store across the street (or BYO). This isn't the Beckie's cafe we remembered when we were here three years ago. It turns out the business was sold and although it carries the name the menu is not nearly as robust. Many selections are no longer available, such as vegetarian choices, and hearty dinners, which the original Beckie's had. The original menus were still on Yelp when we checked before going there, so, I am posting their current menu. The new menu is mainly a fast food menu, not like before. We ordered pie and coffee, but it didn't have the homemade flavor as before. If you're hungry and are looking for a quick meal, I guess this fills the bill. read more

Don't go here if you want fast service or have a dietary restriction! We waited 30 min to get seated and another 40min to get food. Server basically refused to provide allergen information, saying the kitchen is too busy to check it. This is illegal, but we were trying to be understanding. Server recommended fried wings, saying it shouldn't contain milk or soy. After taking a bite, I immediately had an allergic reaction and had trouble breathing. Server denied that it had any milk or soy in the fryer, but never mentioned what's in the batter or possible contamination. She said she will check with the kitchen, but avoided talking to us the whole night, even after we paid in full. This cafe is using "they are too busy" as an excuse to not provide adequate service, which basically ruined our evening plans after I had an allergic reaction to their food. read more

After an adventure at Crater Lake there aren't a lot of options for food in the area (pretty remote), but really that's ok when you have a choice like Beckie's Cafe. Rustic log cabin style restaurant with a couple of rooms for seating. Note, we had a big party (8) and they were unable to seat us all together. It looked like the other room would have accommodated us, but we were hungry and didn't mind getting split across 2 booths. We were all pretty starving as we arrived at around 2:00 and hadn't eaten since early that morning. The menu has a great selection of burgers, sandwiches, entrees (both beef and chicken). I went with the Fire On The Mountain burger, that comes topped with: onion ring, pickled jalapeno, pepper jack cheese and spicy chipotle mayo. Yes, I had to customize and get the Chipotle mayo on the side, really glad I did, it had more of a mayo then chipotle taste. The burger itself, was really good and didn't need the chipotle mayo. Fries were also really fresh and tasty. We closed it off with one of the signature berry pies that we had been hearing about for about an hour before we arrived at Beckie's. It certainly didn't disappoint! We were stuffed, but we needed to try (share) one to taste what all the fuss was about. I'm not typically a pie person, but this one was really good and worth the extra stuffing we went through to polish it off. Checked their website for hours & it said current hours 8am-9pm everyday. Wanted to make sure before we made the 22 mile round trip so called # on their website. Was told same hrs. Got there at 8pm on 8/22/23. Walked in & they said kitchen just closed. I told them about what website said & phone call. They didn't care. Not apologetic about it at all. Stopped in for dinner at around 5:15pm. Ten minute wait for a table for two, they were doing a very good business. While service was a little slow, it was not unreasonable for the full house. I had the Winners Chicken Dinner and my grandson had the House Burger. The Chicken dinner came with a dinner salad that was full of yummy suprises. The dinner itself was piping hot and the seasoning on the chicken was delicious. I was very impressed with the grilled squash and onions as a side vegtable. My grandson really enjoyed his burger that was juicy and full of flavor. All the fixings on the burger were fresh and crisp. The french fries were cooked perfect and well seasoned. Was very disappointed . Was told it was a good place to eat and it was absolutely terrible . My Husband had tHe Wood Chuck and I had the Abbot Burger both were Cold as Ice the fries were cold and the cheese on both were hard not even melted. The burger pattys were probably frozen so they were cooked well and gross. They had a special that the server did not even let us know about so we did even Get a chance to see if we woud enjoy. Crater Lake staff recommended we eat here since they had limited dining hours. The lady who worked here was nice, but they have a very limited mostly fried menu now during COVID and when they messed up my burger (I ordered the Shroom Burger), although she apologized and said she would correct it, she just took the egg and bacon off the top (she gave me a Hunter Burger by mistake) and put mushrooms on top -- the burger still had the gross chipotle mayonnaise for the Hunter Burger at the bottom -- she didn't bother to make me a new burger and I'm grossed out that she took the burger that I bit into back into the kitchen. The fries were also cold when I got the container back. Due to this, we didn't go back here the rest of our stay. The pecan pie did taste good. I recommend you try the Chuck Wagon across the street which is even more delicious, better quality and hard to mess up. Or even consider driving to Diamond Lake Resort for your meals which is similar distance in a different direction and better quality. The restaurant is closed for indoor dining. After an eight hour hike around Crater Lake, this place was great for dinner. They currently do not have indoor seating but they do have four picnic tables outdoors. This staff person was super nice. I got a shroom burger and added a fried egg. My fiance got the fire on the mountain burger. These burgers were great! It's a well made burger. The pies are really good too! We got a slice of the apple pie and the crust was perfect, the applies were spiced and baked to the perfect degree. read more

Don't let the quaintness fool you. This cafe could range from 2-5 stars depending on who you are. If you are a rich Californian driving up here with the kids to spend a day skiing or visiting Crater Lake then yes, it's 5-stars and a good place to stop because throwing down over $100 for a family of four to eat is nothing. It's chump change. But what do you get for this? A Kid's-meal size meal. When I was given the hamburger I wondered why it was so small for $15 and I had to pay extra for fries. I am not the client they envision for their business model. I'm a middle-class working stiff. At least make the fries included with the meal like 99% of all restaurants and not have the hamburger the diameter and thickness of a basic McDonald's burger. Beckies cafe is a must eat if you are going to crater lake every dish was mouth watering and the staff is so kind. Ample siting area and multiple windows to pick up your food so you don't have to walk around. Though the real stars of the show are them pies!!!! The cafe opened for indoor dining the last week of October and also under the new ownership of Aramark, also the concessionaire at Crater Lake NP. The corporation bought the entire Union Creek Resort. The menu is smaller and disposable service ware is still in use, temporarily, but the food is still good and the large, thick slice of apple pie was excellent. I ordered the rueben sandwich (special of the day) with french fries. The sandwich wasn't huge but had enough meat and sourkraut between toasted slices of rye bread. The fries were average. Some of the same staff are on hand, but like many restaurants, more employees are wanted. read more

Love this place. Food is really good. Surprisingly good for such a small out of the way place. Friendly service you would expect in a small town Oregon family business. Not far from Crater Lake which is why we were in area. Eaten here twice now and found it consistently good Limited seating inside. Some outside tables but getting cold this time of year. Came here because we were told they have amazing pies. After eating lunch we decided to skip on the pie. We thought we found a place with home-style cooking, but we were wrong. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich and received the same deep-fried, previously frozen piece of chicken that my daughter did in her kids meal. Definitely not hand breaded. Make sure you wait OUTSIDE to be seated. We watched the hostess get very upset, snicker, and make side comments to other staff and guests about people that didn't do so. Since the hostess stand was frequently vacant and the sign wasn't clear to stay outside, many people did not know to do so. I watched one customer walk in pass the hostess stand. The hostess asked what she was doing and told her there was a list. The lady explained that she was meeting others there and she spotted them. The hostess was still flabbergasted and upset that she didn't stop at the hostess stand to let her know. We watched another lady leave because the hostess told her she wrongly stepped inside to place a to-go order and there was a list. Unfortunately due to Covid the indoor restaurant was closed. My review is purely based on their pies. And I gotta say, the pies are well worth the visit. We had the Blueberry (which they sell out quickly), they Boysenberry, Apple, Pecan, Chocolate, and Banana Cream pie. All were fantastic. My favorite was definitely the Pecan, however we wife and boys loved all the berry pies. One thing to consider is that if you want to get a whole pie you need to pre-order. So if you are on your way to Crater Lake, stop by here to try some slices, pick your favorite, then pre-order your whole pie. You can also order to pick up your pie another day. Also, they do sell out quickly so be aware of this when planning your visit. read more

Stopped by for take-out since the indoor seating area is closed. They have a walk-up window for ordering, and the waiting area is in a lovely area full of large trees with the sounds of a nearby stream (when there is no traffic on the road). The menus are clearly visible outside so you can decide what you want before getting to the window. This was worth the drive from the Crater Lake Lodge for dinner (and better food)! We tried the BLT (crunchy thick bacon, excellent sandwich), Reuben (very tasty), and regular cheeseburger (also tasty), and would happily eat any of these again. Jalapeno poppers were super hot (temperature, not spicy) and stuffed full of cheesy filling, everything we hoped for. Onion rings were crunchy and well-cooked and came with ranch dressing for dipping. Fries were just boring shoestring fries; I'm glad I did the upgrade for the onion rings. We also lucked out that there was a whole blackberry pie available, and it was still warm! The pie came in a nice metal tin too, which I am considering to be a bonus souvenir. As noted by other reviewers, take-out is served in styrofoam clamshell boxes, which was disappointing since those are not recyclable. I would say three stars for the pie, five for the sandwiches, and five for the friendly person who served us. read more

This is a must stop if you are hungry and want Good home style cooking. We were camp about 12 miles away and eat here about 4 times in our 12 day stay. We had something different very time we stopped here and everything was Great tasting. BUT if you are not real hungry and you have a sweet teeth you MUST have one of many homemade pies. The last night we were there we were able to have their huckleberry pie with ice cream. It was the Best I have every had. When we are back in the area, we will be back. . . NO if we close by we will drive here to have a meal. read more

Menu meal combinations are fixed. There was no one or two eggs and toast or a single pancake on the menu. So my wife ordered biscuits and gravy after being told the biscuits are home made. The biscuits were dry and my wife didn't want to burn the calories on them so she asked the waitress if she could just get a pancake. The waitress said they couldn't do that. So we asked if there was a manager and the waitress said she didn't know but she would check. A while later the manager did come over and told us he would have made us a pancake but by then everyone had finished their meal and we were ready to go. So for us, the two biggest issues are the fixed menu combinations and the unhelpful waitress. We also think the chef needs to get a new biscuit recipe. We won't be back. read more
