When it's the only option in town, it's wonderful when it's as nice as Beckie's. After busy days of travel and exploring, we didn't feel like cooking at our campsite so we hit Beckie's two nights in a row. The food is great, the service was excellent even though we were showing up near closing time, and as I recall the playlist was fire, too. Beckie's is basically a right of passage on the way to Crater lake! We stopped in for a slice of pie on the way home from our day of adventurers. They have tons of flavors that you can buy either by the slice or a whole pie. We ordered a slice of very berry and chocolate peanut butter to go and ate them on the picnic tables outside. They were both divine. The chocolate peanut butter was light and fluffy (not as rich as I expected, in a good way. It was perfect). The very berry was the perfect sweetness and mix of berries. $9 for a slice, but it was part of the experience. We didn't eat any of the food, but the onion rings and fries looked and smelled amazing. For 2:30 pm on a Sunday, they were surprisingly busy! Would definitely recommend the pit stop. read more

After a visit to Crater Lake, we planned to dine at the Prospect Cafe, passed the cute Beckie's sign, and flipped a U-ie. Meatloaf was good, the veggies, mashed potatoes and gravy even better. The warm Pecan Pie with vanilla ice cream put the exclamation point on a great meal. Prices are tourist rate as they're located across from a lodge and near Crater Lake. I had read about this magical place in the "That Oregon Life" newsletter and hyped it up on a recent Girl Scout trip to Crater Lake. The girls had saved their snack money to try some pie. When we came in the hostess was very friendly and accommodating of our group, despite a number of tables being occupied. We arrived mid afternoon and while they didn't have all the pies on the menu available we were able to try a variety of fruit and cream pies. As far as the pies go they weren't homemade quality and whatever cream they use it's not dairy (I'm would know as I am sensitive to dairy) but it is an enchanting spot in the middle of the woods so I 100% make time to stop again or look into staying in the adjacent cabins. read more

AMAZING local diner on our road trip to Bend. We happened to hit Beckie's for breakfast and all we were looking for were two eggs and some home fries. We were completely thrilled to get our eggs, a western cheddar omelet and very berry pie. The sausages with the side of eggs were local patties that tasted amazing. The ham in my omelet was sooo good, it was easily the best omelet western omelet I had ever eaten in my lifetime of visiting diners in NJ. We haven't tried the pie yet, but it looks dope, and hopefully our family in Bend will enjoy it for dessert tonight. I finally stopped here after years of driving past it. I had the fire on the mountain burger and split it. They actually cut it in half and brought it out on separate plates. That was unexpected. We each had a piece of pie, I had the boysenberry and the other was blackberry. Both were great, but the blackberry was slightly better. I normally don't like pie, but this one was great! Ooooo baby I came here with my two buddies and I was wearing some new clothes and I look kinda snazzy in my new clothes and so do my buddies oh yeah kinda feeling like superstars on a red carpet oh yeah especially with some good pie in my belly unstoppable. Went for the pie and it was super super yummy had to take some home for breakfast in the morning too. I got coconut crème which is one of my favorites it was big (hint I'm taking it home for breakfast because I couldn't finish it). My buddy got boysenberry and I think that one was the best especially with the ice cream. 1) Do not order the Hunter's Burger, the sandwich is so loaded down with bacon, fried egg, special sauce, etc., that you cannot taste any difference in the meat quality, so a total waste of the $10 extra I paid. 2) The kitchen was SLOOOOOOOW. It took 45 minutes from ordering to receiving my burger and fries. 3) The burger was raw and I had to send it back. The fries which were hot and tasty when I received the raw burger but were cold and boring when I got my recooked burger back. 4) The waitress did not offer to leave the fries for me to eat while I waited for the burger to be recooked, nor did she give me fresh fries when I finally got my burger. read more

We got the pancakes, breakfast sandwich with ham, biscuits and gravy, and cinnamon roll. We stayed at Union Creek campground and didn't realize we brought the wrong pan and couldn't cook so we were super happy Beckie's was so close. My husband got the veggie sandwich and I got the chicken strips/tenders with fries. The amount of chicken was way more than I expected!! When I first picked one up with my fork I was surprised how skinny it was. I was expecting it to be dry and not very good but it to my surprise it was super juicy and so good!! I can't say much on the fries cause I was more focused on eating the chicken. The different sauces were also yummy. I liked the honey mustard most. We stayed nearby and this was really the only restaurant in the area. The meal was fine, but with a lot of almost comedic problems. They were out of blue cheese crumbles so a cobb salad couldnt be made. Apparently only one deep fryer was functioning, so our appetizers came out slowly and one at a time. The patty melt and ham sandwich came out burnt and had to be redone. The sourdough club came out on white bread. They brought us three burgers when we only ordered two. We got chicken wings and there was clearly something in there that was not a chicken wing, and our buffalo sauce never came. Our onion rings had something in it that was certainly not an onion. Overall, the food was acceptable. We got some pie to go, with ice cream packed separately to make it a la mode later. The pie was also just acceptable. I would not get it again. Small historic cafe/diner in Union Creek, OR, just up the road from Prospect. They have pretty short hours during the week (11-6) so be sure to arrive by 5:30 if you want dinner. I had read about the legendary cinnamon rolls at Beckie's so we made sure to stop for breakfast on a cold rainy day. Hubby had the Beckie's breakfast (eggs, toast, bacon, hash browns) which was huge and delicious. He also had hot chocolate with whipped cream. I accepted the challenge of tackling likely the biggest cinnamon roll I've ever seen. I made it through about three quarters of it before giving up! The cream cheese frosting was sublime and the roll itself was flakier rather than denser which made it easier to eat. The atmosphere was homey and the service was prompt and friendly. We also got slices of blueberry pie to go and it was excellent- light flaky crust and plenty of blueberries! Glad we stopped even if we did fall into a "food coma" later! read more

This place was booooooomb. My party and I stopped by after a full day at Crater Lake. I had been road tripping in the area for a few days, and Beckie's was the first place that offered *vegetarian* (Beyond) burgers so I knew I had to try one. It was really good. I got the Fire on the Mountain and it hit all the right notes. The one area of improvement would be that the fire could have been more fire-y. I ended up adding more hot sauce to get a bit more of a kick. Fries were on point too. From what it's worth, the rest of my party enjoyed their respective meals as well (chicken wings, buffalo wing salad, and the soup of the day which was a hamburger/vegetable soup). I also tried the peach and very berry pies as well. Both were pretty good! I'm not a big pie person, so my enthusiasm is a bit muted, but since these were recommended by our server (and the peach was in season) I wanted to try it out. I bookmarked Beckie's after reading an article on National Geographic about their Huckleberry pie! Sadly, it isn't in season right now, so we settled on next best: a huckleberry cream soda and a coconut cream pie. The cream soda resembled a watered down pepto bismol, but went great with our mains. I forced my boo to pick something since I always get the "I dunno". He got the fire on the mountain burger (something I would never have gravitated to), and it was great! Somehow, all those condiments worked in perfect synergy with each other. I ordered the tuna melt with onion rings and it hit the spot. The coconut cream pie we got to-go didn't hold up that well when we dug into it a few hours later. The crust was a bit soggy and the coconut cream too dense for our liking. Very coconut-y though. Nathan was our server and he was at the top of his game! The bouncer/host at the front was very strict. I wanted to use the bathroom to wash my hands and was told I could only do that once I was seated inside. Otherwise, there was an outhouse in back. I can't fault the dude. I'm sure he was just enforcing the social distancing rules, and I appreciate that. Only four tables available inside right now due to COVID-19 restrictions. You can order at their take out window and it's first come, first served seating outside at their picnic tables. That option seemed to have a faster turnover than inside. The service is slower than any restaurant I have ever been too, and I am from Nee Orleans. I was so excited to bring my son to have the best pie, and I promised to bring pie back to my neighbors. I was ignored for 30 minutes as I stood at the counter waiting to order pie. I mean, completely ignored. I had to speak up and ask the bus boy if I could order some pie. Surly attitude- I got a slice to eat in the car, it was awful. I had to throw it in the garbage. Now I was upset that I bought a whole pie home with me, but it was hot and seemed like it was made fresh. I was hoping it was going to be great. I was shocked at how bad the whole pie was - awful crust and the filling was terrible. Honestly it was inedible. Obviously not the same bakers from years ago when I thought the huckleberry pie was one of the best I have ever had. This was one of the worst pies I have ever had, and I am embarrassed that I cut it and brought it to my elderly neighbors who threw it in the garbage. I told them to be honest with me and they called me and told me it was awful. What a waste of money. Same owners I believe on the barbecue place on the same property. They double charged us today. What a great disappointment. BUT...Crater Lake is so beautiful- just don't stop at Beckie's on the way there or the way back. It is such a waste of time and money. Beckie's Cafe is one of the few restaurants in the area on the way to Crater Lake. It's a small cozy restaurant and has pretty good food and service. I stayed at the lodge across from it so I came here twice for dinner. I had the mushroom burger, which was pretty good. It also came with onions and shoestring fries, which were obviously the frozen kind, but was still satisfying. Fridays are their clam chowder day so I ordered a bowl upon recommendation from the server. It was a hearty chowder with plenty of clam meat, bacon, and potatoes. I also got a slice of their homemade peanut butter pie. It was light and creamy. I enjoyed eating it. Plenty of parking. It's about 25 minute drive to Crater Lake. Hours are 8-8. read more

The food was fairly good. The pie slices huge and great. The service wasn't good or great. I don't know if it's because they know people will just keep coming here because there isn't much else in the area but the staff was walking a pretty fine line between unfriendly and outright rude. A few people came in within 10 min or so because there was a very serious wreck up the highway and no cell service so they needed the business phone to call 911. We heard the locals really talk this place up so we had to try it. It's a little road side spot with a lot of woodsy flair. We both got soup and sails and shared a piece of blueberry pic with vanilla ice cream. The soup was hot and the salad was just a plain old salad, nothing to rave about. The pie was good and the ice cream was better. Our waitress was a gravel throated grump of a woman with "0" personality! Wen we got the bill I told my Sara, "What the heck are they smoking?" She laughed and I said "the waitress must be a chain smoker with that voice." I don't recommend this spot. It's a $$ trap for tourists passing through. I stand corrected about hour waitress. I was told she didn't smoke but had some health issues causing her voice to sound the way it does. Sorry for the inference. Great place to stop by after exploring Crater Lake. It is a bit far from Crater Lake, but if you plan to head west towards Prospect then you should stop by! The pies are delicious with a flaky crust and many fillings to choose from. The burgers and fried sampler were amazing as well.
