Killed about 10 hornets inside our cabin. Three or four a day. Don't know how they were getting in. Charged us for 3 dozen shiners and we only bought one. Tried to bill us for 4 nights when we were only there for 3. Nope. Won't be back.

Kayaks, Paddleboats and Canoes are available for free use. The resort is located in the Chippewa National Forest on an undeveloped lake. Beautiful. The lodge is old school, replete with Ms. Pac-man and a host of other video games, pool table etc. Activities are family friendly The Minuses: The nights can be cold and there is no heat. Protip: they provide linens but you should bring extra. Overall, it was a great value and a lot of fun for our family. We enjoyed the cabin, the resort on whole, took full advantage of the kayaking and paddle boating. The air was sweet and the night sky simply amazing. The other reviewer was right - this isn't the 4 Seasons - if you are looking for a spa experience - I suggest somewhere that doesn't advertise "welcome fishermen!." However, if you are looking for a place to take your family that is fun, relaxing and welcoming - you've found it.

Our catch included Perch, Rock Bass and Northern Pike. A few of them were in the 20' to 24" range - real nice fish. The cabins at the resort are clean, roomy and well stocked with kitchen utensils and such. We were fortunate to get one of the themed cabins, which was cool. The ice fishing houses that are available for rent at the resort are big enough to accommodate groups of 4 to 8, and Brad, who runs the resort does a great job of ensuring that they are positioned in prime locations, resulting in high catch counts. After a full day of fishing, we would bring our catch back to the fish cleaning shed where Mike cleaned and filleted fish like a surgeon for a very reasonable fee. All in all, it was a great experience at a great resort with an amazing host, and I am already planning my next visit to the Iowana Beach Resort.

Chad and crew are all great, booking for our tent and buying ice road passes in person in the winter are very smooth processes. They have a clean hot shower available year round (only one since their cabins have bathrooms), and washer/dryer. The food at the bar is fantastic, we always get the jalapeño raspberry wings and a split basket of deep fried cauliflower and green beans. Safety is their priority so I know my truck won't be taking a swim in the winter on the ice road. In the summer their dock hands are incredibly helpful and make a day go fishing so much easier (don't forget to tip the kids, they are great workers!). Last, but absolutely not least, they have the best rolled ice cream I've ever had!! The flavors range from chocolatey goodness to gooey peanut butter, but also cover s'mores and fruit flavors as well. Overall I'd 10/10 recommend The Pines for winter and summer fishing!

The clean, VERY WELL maintained cabin included a warming fireplace, crispy clean bedding, all required utensils and virtually instant hot water in the shower and kitchen. The grounds provided space for casual walks (escorted by hummingbirds and chipmunks). Fishing was good and the lake scenic thanks in great part to limited development. As important as anything, Loon Point's owner/operators were not only visible, but helpful as well. Loon Point provides lots of lessons for owner/operators of "Mom and Pop" destinations who believe they'll stay in business by doing the "same old thing." It's just not gonna happen.
