Came with my boyfriend on a Saturday morning (I recommend coming early / around 9am or so, because it gets more crowded as you get to 10 or 11am - definitely check their hours in advance), and had such a lovely time. Great place to bring kids too - saw a good number of families around. Atmosphere: Everybody is expected to wear a mask while you're apple picking, and when you're at the farmer's market. There were clear signs marked for where the apples were best for picking (some sections had already been picked completely when we went). They also had vats out of apples that were done picking for the season, but that you could add to your bag. Pricing is available on their website, but you pre-pay for a size (we chose the 10-lb bag for $20), and then go on your way! Food/Apples: We picked a ton of evercrisp and found them very fresh - slightly tart, but also very sweet. They also allow you to try 2 apple samples before you go out to pick them yourselves. I loved their farmer's market - especially getting their own peanut butter (I was intrigued by the espresso peanut butter, so I grabbed a container of that)! Everything we tried from their market (pear cider, chocolate milk) was delicious. Overall: 5/5 - Highly recommend (and if you go earlier, there are generally less people). Do I pay for this outside? Do I go inside? Are there tickets? The market (which had really nice things) was impossible to shop. Some things were outside, other things inside, w/ a line of people waiting to pay starting at the tented outside register area, backed up, weaving all the way thru the market isles to the front door. You had to squeeze between the line of people waiting to pay & the shelves of food to shop, making it hard to look at anything, much less grab anything. I know this sounds like a good problem to have, but not when chaos is driving the experience more than demand. Exhausted from wondering the outside trying to figure out what all there was to do & where to go, then braving the market, I decided to skip apple picking which was the main reason I was there! That process appeared even less clear, so no regrets. I do love the things purchased at the market, including apple cider donuts, frozen pastas, & Reading Soda Works bottles- just think I'll return to shop on a day when nothing is going on.

We had a great time at Brecknock -making our Whoopie pies, playing a whoopie pie trivia game, and picking up a few odds and ends for us and friends. Dad feels it's much easier to uh, drive our John Deere tractor/wagon here and load it up in the wagon so we can forgo the hassle of tying it to our car. It's been a little different since my brother and I left the nest as the tree is usually up when we get home from Penn State or DC, respectively. When I moved to DC and bought a fresh tree 2 years ago, I was astounded by the $50 price tag. A 4-5 foot tree for $50!? Not the case at Beck's. I believe the price is between $40-45 for a 6 or 7 foot tree which is amazing. Beck's also has a huge pile of garland behind the barn that patrons are free to take as much as they want. Mom usually takes a few pieces to assemble mini trees that she puts on our front porch as decorations. Go to Beck's for your Christmas trees. It's worth it.
