We arrived w/ no clear sense of where to go or begin. There were tented areas, but then little shacks w/ awnings, pockets of people standing in a field, others across the street. Do I pay for this outside? Do I go inside? Are there tickets? The market (which had really nice things) was impossible to shop. Some things were outside, other things inside, w/ a line of people waiting to pay starting at the tented outside register area, backed up, weaving all the way thru the market isles to the front door. You had to squeeze between the line of people waiting to pay & the shelves of food to shop, making it hard to look at anything, much less grab anything. I know this sounds like a good problem to have, but not when chaos is driving the experience more than demand. Exhausted from wondering the outside trying to figure out what all there was to do & where to go, then braving the market, I decided to skip apple picking which was the main reason I was there! That process appeared even less clear, so no regrets. I do love the things purchased at the market, including apple cider donuts, frozen pastas, & Reading Soda Works bottles- just think I'll return to shop on a day when nothing is going on.

The Festival runs on Feb. 26-28 & March 5-7 between 9am - 4pm. Essentially, you can create Your Own Whoopie Pie for $4 each, 4 or more at $3.50 each, and 12 or more $3 each. Here's how it works - make your customized selections of one of 12 cookies, one of 11 frostings, and one of 7 toppings, and Brecknock will build your pie. I went full Elvis mode and selected banana cookies, peanut butter frosting, and chocolate chip toppings around the circumference. We had a great time at Brecknock -making our Whoopie pies, playing a whoopie pie trivia game, and picking up a few odds and ends for us and friends. PRO TIP Hats off to Brecknock for their generosity and hospitality. They had free samples everywhere- whoopie pie wedges, pretzels, popcorn, and all sorts of goodies. It worked on us, because after sampling some honey mustard pretzels, we couldn't grab a bag fast enough.

I visited the farm on a Wednesday afternoon for raspberry picking. The staff was helpful and since…read moreI was a first timer, they explained the location of crops and current availability of fruit. You can either bring your own basket or buy some containers there. They grow strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and more, it's impressive what they grow. I thought it was solely a berry farm but they've got everything! I picked my berries and they're plump, ripe and delicious! The only downside for me was darn mother nature not having everything ripe at the same time. It was painful walking by the blueberries knowing it was not yet season for them. It goes without saying that this is a good place to bring the kids, Its a nice outdoor activity on a summer day. Maybe picking their own green beans will make them want to eat some. This is a cash only location so make sure you bring it with you because there is no ATM on sight. The prices were very good. All in all, I would definitely return for another type of picking, and I'd recommend it to others. Just make sure you check the website for the availability of the fruit or veggies you want that day.

It is the very good quality and taste of berries I enjoyed as well as personal touch by the owner of the farm. They still have some strawberry left, it is sweet and very fragrant, it is almost like in a famouse Swedish movie " Strawberry Patch", also in the movie is a wild strawberry. We enjoyed our red and black raspberries which are abundant and delicious this year. If you are a bluberry fan, you should come next week for the delicious treat! Bluberry is almost ready; sweat and sour, big and appetizing. The rain did not spoil our experience and a beautiful rainbow was like a prize we received from God. Come to Lititz to enjoy the farm and plenty of wonderful berries. I also collected some berry leaves to make my teas.

Fresh garland wreaths, roping, Christmas accessories and railroad gifts are also for sale in the barn, "Christmas Junction". Dave and Lynn Beck are good family friends so even though there are 3 or 4 other tree farms close by, we always go to Beck's. It is a tradition to go after church on a Sunday afternoon and pick our tree. Um, most people drive home with their tree tied to the roof of their car. My family is NOT like most people. Dad feels it's much easier to uh, drive our John Deere tractor/wagon here and load it up in the wagon so we can forgo the hassle of tying it to our car. It's been a little different since my brother and I left the nest as the tree is usually up when we get home from Penn State or DC, respectively. When I moved to DC and bought a fresh tree 2 years ago, I was astounded by the $50 price tag. A 4-5 foot tree for $50!? Not the case at Beck's. I believe the price is between $40-45 for a 6 or 7 foot tree which is amazing. Beck's also has a huge pile of garland behind the barn that patrons are free to take as much as they want. Mom usually takes a few pieces to assemble mini trees that she puts on our front porch as decorations. Go to Beck's for your Christmas trees. It's worth it.
