Apple Pie & Strawberry Cheesecake Beavertails
    Mechelle M.

A Canadian Classic Worth Every Bite. Full disclosure: I tried BeaverTails for the first time in Toronto, and I instantly fell in love. For me, it's all about the sweet bread. If you know me, you know I enjoy bread a lot, and BeaverTails delivers in the best way possible. Let's start with the Strawberry Cheesecake. The sweet yet rich flavor gets me every time, and the graham cracker crumbs add the perfect bit of crunch to balance it all out. It's indulgent, nostalgic, and simply delicious. I also tried the Apple Pie BeaverTail, and while it was a little too sweet for me personally, it was still very good. The warm apple flavors made for a nice contrast to the Strawberry Cheesecake, which remains my top choice. The best part? BeaverTails has locations all across Canada, so even if you're not in Toronto, you can still find one in other cities and enjoy this Canadian staple. It's worth every penny and definitely worth the stop.

you can't miss this location right at the center of the complex by Niagra Falls. Parking is a bit far so you'll have to walk a bit first but it just gives you time to enjoy the colorful scenery. It's a quaint take out place; staff are very accomodating and service is fast. Menu is more of a comfort food and my fave is the bananas with nutella. you can have them slice it if you're sharing.

So yummy!! We had the beaver tail with lemon on it. It was served nice and hot! Service was friendly and quick. Just a small area to order, good to take on the go.

If you're visiting Niagara and have a sweet tooth, BeaverTails is a fun stop to consider. The treat itself is a delightful cross between an elephant ear and a waffle, offering a unique texture that pairs well with various toppings. We tried the apple pie and hazelnut versions, and both were delicious. However, be prepared for a bit of a messy experience--especially since the yellow jackets in the area are incredibly aggressive and might try to get to your treat before you do. The service is minimal but kind. Don't expect much interaction; they'll simply hand over your BeaverTail in a wrapper, and that's about it. If you're looking for a tasty snack with a bit of outdoor adventure (in the form of dodging yellow jackets), BeaverTails is worth a visit. Just be ready to enjoy it quickly before the bugs beat you to it!

These beaver tails here in Niagara Falls reminded me of the maple donuts in the donut shop. Overall this one I ordered was very sweet from the powder and the maple syrup. The bread was flat too, which is something typical for a Canadian treat. This could get messy depending on how you eat it. Honestly, I would eat this again if I ever come back!

Soooo I wanted to try a beavertail. I had read about them. When we went to explore Clifton Hill we saw they had a beavertails sign! I was excited and we decided to pop on over to check it out!! I didn't know what to expect... as we entered the store was quiet but we must has attracted more people. There are a variety of flavors to try, but my husband said we're in Canada let's go for the maple flavored one and the classic which had cinnamon and sugar. The beavertails are warm and lite. They are like a donut but flat and long. The classic reminded me of a churro but a soft bite to it! The maple flavored was actually quite delicious. I was skeptical it was going to be overly sweet but it wasn't. The store is quite small. So you kinda order, grab and go. There is a little stand by the window but we took ours to go so we could continue exploring. I recommend a beavertail! Enjoy!!

Quick treat. Stopped by here to grab a "Classic" (cinnamon and sugar) after dinner and service was QUICK! The pastry was warm and the perfect dessert for a chilly evening. With crispy edges and a warm chewy center, the cinnamon was warm and the perfect accompaniment to the sweetness of the sugar. By the time I snapped a few photos of the menu and restaurant my order was already done. Great food, great experience and tons of options. Highly recommend the classic though.

We loved this place! We were traveling and found this place which is nothing like any "donut" place we've ever been to. It's located on the main strip and didn't have close parking, there also was not any seating space inside, so just be aware of that prior to visiting. We went first thing after they opened and was able to walk right in. We ordered three different BeaverTails and a small beaver bites. We loved all of the beavertails, but probably could have done without the bites. The beavertails were made right as we ordered and you could definitely tell! The dough had a nice crisp and wasn't soggy at all from the toppings. Grab a big handful of napkins because you WILL need them! I would definitely travel again just to go to this place!

Warm, fresh beaver tails! I'm glad I shared with my friends because even one is pretty generous in size - almost like a real beaver tail! It's basically a cinnamon flatbread, but it's delicious, especially with a scoop of cookie monster ice cream. The only downside is there's no seating at this location. So, you're left either standing outside on the street, or like us, eating quickly inside by the window.

Beaver tails!!! No, you won't be eating an animal, but gosh this is by far tied for my favorite Canadian dessert, right up there with the Canadian butter cake. My fiancé loves the Nutella banana one and my favorite was the avalanche. But they have a huge menu so you're sure to find one that is perfect for your pallet.

This place on the Canada side of Niagara was okay but honestly a bit disappointing. We got the classic poutine which was fine, but I'm sure we could have gotten better elsewhere on that side of the border. The beaver tails themselves are basically flat churros. You can put all different kinds of toppings on them or have them mixed in as pieces in iced cream, but at the end of the day these are churros. They're fine but I don't think I would go again.

Killaloe Sunrise - think churro with lemon
    Jennifer C.

The perfect little afternoon sweet snack! I got the Killaloe Sunrise (cinnamon, sugar, and lemon) and was pleasantly surprised! It reminded me of a churro with lemon, which doesn't sound all that great, but somehow works! It is a bit small for the price, but a nice treat.

Top tier . What I was most excited about this place is that they have vegan options . That made me so happy . So I got the classic . And literally it was hot and fresh out the fryer . I loved that you don't get left over fried dough sitting in grease . It was fresh delicious and not too sweet . The workers here were very nice as well . They don't have a sitting area but you can take it to go . Super good and delicious

My son had the Niagara Falls Crepe and said it was the BEST he has ever had. Honestly, I had to look up what a galette was. I had the bacon, Brie, galette, as per recommended by the waitress. My husband had the spinach , egg , galette. It was very good as well! Definitely recommend this French cafe, everything is made to order.

Early afternoon not long before they closed to break and then begin dinner service prep. We were the last brunch patrons of the day. Only critique might be on their ventilation system. It was a bit smoky in the dining area. Most likely coming from the kitchen. No burnt smell, just a bit of haze. Atmosphere was quiet (of course. There were only a few tables eating at that time) and cozy. Decor is very Parisienne. My wife has been to Paris and she recalled cafés just like this one. Stacy was our server. She was very nice and very friendly. Exceptionally knowledgeable about the dishes and the story of the café. There was a sense of pride when she spoke of the café that did not go unnoticed. Food was delivered in good time. What was supposed to be hot was hot & cold, cold. We had: Thalassa (Galette) La Baraka (Crepe) La Complete (Galette) Cappuccino (2) Beer (local, Sleeman Original Lager) Bread with Butter & Strawberry Jam Suffice to say that EVERYTHING was delicious. That's, actually, an understatement. One bite of his La Complete and my brother in law said, "Dude, you gotta taste this!! And he was right..amazing." My dish was the Thalassa, because I adore smoked salmon. It was fresh, bright and it was my first time having caviar. I thought that I would love it and I did. Then, my wife's dish, the sweet La Baraka. O M G! Nothing like it. Sweet but not too sweet and come to find out from Stacy that all the components are made from scratch. The salted butter caramel & the Chantilly. Idk how it's made but I'm going to learn how to make that Chantilly. Soooo good! Also, the Cappuccino here is outstanding. My wife made the mistake of letting me try some. She had to order another! Delectable. The bread, of course, is House-made, as you'd expect. This was the kind of experience I look for, especially, when I travel. I would love to eat here again before we leave in a few days. We'll see.... There are many more experiences to have. MOST DEFINITELY RECOMMEND. 5/5

I kept reading the hype about Sweet Jesus so on my last visit through Niagara Falls, the hubby and…read moreI decided to stop and get a sweet treat. Our consensus was that this place is definitely over-hyped. Neither of us was a fan of the ice cream here, and it's one of our favorite desserts. It has a weird consistency that doesn't even taste all that creamy, and the plain vanilla has zero flavor. The ice cream had a very light and fluffy texture that was unappealing, sort of like Cool Whip versus real whipped cream. I prefer my ice cream very thick and creamy. The flavor comes from the toppings, which were also a little bit boring. There are lots of weird sounding flavor combinations that they call "cone builds" that have sauces and toppings that are over the top, but we opted for a cone with cookie crumbs and cookie dough for me, and Oreo for him. The cookie crumbs were very stale and the cookie dough just tasted like regular old cookie dough topping, nothing special. I also thought the ice cream shop was very dirty. It didn't seem very clean or sanitary and if that sort of thing bothers you'd I'd recommend skipping this place. The toppings were falling all over the counter, which was an absolutely gross mess, and our cones were given to us already dripping and sticky (yuck). The prices are high but then again, that's to be expected since this location is right on the main tourist drag in Niagara Falls. It's right at the end of the street by the falls, so you can walk over and eat your ice cream and look at the water. We paid like $22 CAD for two mediocre ice cream cones. This is a one and done place for me for sure.

A Bit of a Letdown This Time Around…read more We've had Sweet Jesus before--mostly at mall locations--and we've usually really enjoyed it. But this time around on Clifton Hill, it just didn't wow us. We went with milkshakes: I got the Birthday Cake, and my wife got the Mango. Hers was okay, but my Birthday Cake shake was super underwhelming. It was way too liquid-y, the cake bits had an odd texture, and the overall flavour was just bland. Normally Sweet Jesus is known for bold, indulgent treats, but this one fell flat. Also the cardboard straws are TERRIBLE. Broke a couple just trying to get them through the plastic lid. The location didn't help either--Clifton Hill has gotten way more crowded than it used to be, and this spot became chaotic pretty fast. Might've just been an off visit, but based on this experience, we'd probably stick to the mall locations next time.
