Once I saw Beaver Brewing Company featured as one of the best nano breweries in Food and Wine magazine, it shot to the top of my list of things to do. I knew I had my Friday free and was planning on a few beers anyway. Once the decision was made, I saw on Facebook that they were releasing 3 new beers that day as part of a bartender challenge (each bartender was given the chance to brew their own beer). It was as if they knew I was coming. And I knew there was no turning back. With the new Adele CD cued up in my car, I made the 45 minute drive in order to arrive shortly after their scheduled opening at 4pm. I easily found street parking and entered the taproom. There are several tables but I took a seat at the bar. The bartender Nate and owner Dan are more than happy to talk beer, theirs or otherwise. I enthusiastically ordered a flight (5 samples of my choice) that included the 3 beers of the bartender challenge along with the Brown Note (an English brown) and Chamomile Wheat. Bartender Jason created an Irish ale called Horny Sheepherder that tastes much like an Irish red but was called an ale because it doesn't really have that reddish coloring. Don't worry, it didn't affect the taste. Bartender Tyler came up with Not Your Stepfather's Birch Beer using all natural ingredients. It sounded like they weren't sure how it would turn out but let me assure you, it turned out just fine. Bartender Nate it seems has a bit more experience resulting in my favorite of the three, his Chocolate Hazelnut Porter he dubbed Chocolate Haze. And I decided this before he offered me a piece of hazelnut pie. They also have a small menu but you can also bring in food (there's a pizza place next door). Sadly, most of Beaver Falls is a barren wasteland. Fortunately, Beaver Brewing Company is a shining beacon. I did deducted one star for the rather out of the way location and limited hours. But if you like craft brews, find the time to follow the light to this local brewery with some great beer.

My wife asked me if I heard of this place and I said yes, she said we got to go there. That was music to my ears. We stopped looked around and they have a small bar where everyone is gathered around. They have a long bar that was vacant. We got a flight of beers, ipa, jalapeño, Irish ted and a lager. The jalapeño beer was awesome. We got a four pack to go. I asked who was the owner how long they been here and he said 8 years. The one owner said that this was his last day. Found out that they sold the brewery to new owners. They will stick around as the new owners get going. But the name will change in due time. I'm happy we got to check it out under the original ownership. The one thing is inside everything is quite older. It could use some modernization. We will come back once the name changes and we have another Brewery to mark off our checklist.

The brewery itself is spacious and the concept made me feel like we were hanging out in a friend's basement gameroom/bar. That's a good thing. Definitely has a vintage vibe happening. We met with and were served by one of the Petrucci brothers and we got to talk with him at length about the brewery, their pours, the area, etc. Super, super friendly and nice guy. Now let's talk about the pours. I have to tell all of you that the beers are spectacular. We loved each one that we tried. If you're up for adventure, this is worth a drive from Pittsburgh. Looking forward to the next time we have to make our way out to Beaver County.

Whatever you decide for the day, the staff and owners are happy to make suggestions or help out. There's even some cans you can grab to enjoy the drafts even after you leave. If you are hungry, make sure to look for the food truck schedule or you can always grab something on the way in. There's even a few spots within walking distance you can check out. There's always something special going on including bingo, music nights, and theme nights to keep it interesting. Whether you are a first timer or a regular (or a regular who just can't make it as often as he'd like), Bullseye Brewing Company is a fantastic stop for everyone. Don't forget the kiddos or your four legged friends either. Everyone will have a good time.

3 - Good choice if you're in the area. Skip to the end to see my rating scale…read more The three things I look for in a brewery are an inviting outdoor space, accessibility to some good grub, and (of course) some quality beers. Big bonus if a place is dog friendly. Bullseye can provide all three if they happen to have a food truck scheduled when you're there. The bartender was friendly without being up-in-your-face happy. So she was really good. She understood beer menu and was able to make good suggestions. The overall atmosphere of the place is very relaxed and they have a big back room where a birthday party was going on. There is a small deck out front, but it wasn't the best weather when we were there and it overlooks as strip mall. So the outdoor space isn't particularly inviting, but it IS available and might be nice if the weather cooperates. But overall Bullseye gives off a good brewery vibe. We got a couple of flights that were OK. Not a lot of options for the Mrs in the way of Hefs or Blondes, but we were able to find a sour she could get through. I was able to find one or two out of my flight that I'd get again in a pint, so the beers themselves are OK. I wouldn't go super far out of my way to visit again, but if I ever find myself back in New Brighton, I'd be happy to stop back in. My rating scale: 1 - Just don't 2 - You'll survive, but there are better choices close by 3 - Good choice if you're in the area 4 - I'd drive 30 minutes out of my way just to come here 5 - I'd try to convince my wife to drive an hour just to come here
