Angela was pretty booked for color, so I scheduled a haircut with her first to get in a bit sooner and see if she would be a good fit for me. Before my appt, I also sent photos of my Inspiration haircolors/styles via text and in turn, she had me send her current pics of my hair and a summary of my color history. What I loved and appreciated was Angela's honesty and frankness. She didn't sugar coat anything and based on photos alone questioned if my hair was even healthy enough to withstand another bleach transformation to achieve the look of my inspiration pics. On the day of my haircut appt- she assessed the damage and confirmed my hair wasn't healthy enough at that time to get the results I was looking for with color and it would probably break if I bleached it again this soon. Not what I wanted to hear- but it is what it is...and I had consulted with another stylist prior at a different salon who essentially said the same thing. Angela spent a long time with me listening to my hair goals and examining my hair and we came up with a game plan focused on improving the health of my hair in preparation for my Inspiration pics. Loved the haircut and the vibes w/ Angela and the salon so I excitedly scheduled an appt a month out for the color. What Angela did was amazing! The brassiness/orange/warm tones disappeared, my grays were gone, and with a B3 treatment felt soft, healthy and had amazing shine. I was so impressed I booked her for the same thing again! I am beyond thrilled to have found a new salon and stylist with Angela at Shenanigans. She is super kind, professional, on time, upfront and talented. Shenanigans is right off the 91 frwy in a small strip mall with a mexican restaurant and Farmer Boys restaurant. The salon is clean, huge, and with alot of natural lighting. The other stylists and staff were all very professional, welcoming and friendly as well. The three employees there all looked and sounded like they were between 18 and 20. My hair is fairly straight and above shoulder length. I let the "stylist" that worked on me (I think her name Alexis) know that I just wanted a bouncy bob style and had a hard time using a roll brush and blow dryer on myself. First red flag, hair wash. I've never had my hair washed where I didn't feel fingers rubbing my scalp and scrubbing my hair. This "stylist" was so ginger with the wash that on hindsight, I should have walked out; this person is obviously brand new at this that I should have suspected she'd likely be just as timid completing the blowout. And that was the case. She lightly brushed my hair, slightly curled the bottom front two sides, put a few rollers at the top middle of my head, which I thought was really odd. No place have I ever gone that a stylist used rollers; always roll brush and blow dryer or curling iron. Weird. Anyway, she removed the curlers, which produced nothing. Maybe if she'd used one of the gazillions of products they display all over the counter in front of you, there might have been an affect from the curlers. I really don't recall her using any kind of gel, spray, anything on my hair and I walked out looking no better than when I'd arrived. Flat. I wish I had her photo my hair on my phone. Anyway, a complete waste of time and money (my daughter's) and just think, my regular stylist only charges $6 more and I leave there looking like I'd just been to a salon. And my hair will look just as good days afterward. Big difference between an experienced stylist and one who has no noticeable experience.
