I have been going to see Melissa for bikini and brow waxing for about two years. I first decided to make an appointment because of the stellar reviews and because her previous Kensington location was walking distance from my house. Although she has since moved, I would not think of going anywhere else at this point because Melissa really is the "bee's knees" (sorry, I had to). Melissa is professional, personable and fun to talk to, which makes the experience of someone peering up your downside far less awkward. She is also just very good at waxing: very little pain/redness and absolutely smooth. She checks in during the entire process to make sure that you are comfortable. I am not over-selling when I tell you that she has consistently given me the best waxes I have ever had. She will also make sure that the wax is aesthetically perfect: even on both sides, every stray hair gone and every rogue one put back in its place. She is meticulously clean and careful, which I appreciate immeasurably during COVID times. The prices are lower than or comparable to other Philly beauty studios that I've frequented. I should mention that I also always request "a la carte" additions to my waxes, so that they are somewhere in-between bikini/full Brazilians. In the spirit of avoiding the exhaustive pricing list many other salons utilize, Melissa has never once up-charged me for my hybrid bush-- and she definitely could. I don't often write reviews but Melissa really is an all-star who cares so much about her clients. I happened to be the only scheduled appointment today and Melissa opened up the studio and came in anyway. That is dedication! The past ten months have been particularly hard on small businesses, and I am very glad that Maebee's has persevered. Besides Melissa's tenacity, I imagine that this is also because many, many other people feel the same way that I do: Maebee's is where it's at! If you need a wax (or facial/make-up once COVID restrictions relax), do yourself a favor and come to this place!!

But I love that they didn't spend any time talking to each other in another language ( I have always thought that to be very rude, and was glad that it didn't occur). I got a pedicure this morning. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't that great. My feet barely soaked before she began the process. The person that did my pedicure did a great job with cleaning the actual toenails up. The polish job was pretty good also. But she failed to really exfoliate my feet. I feel like she just "went through the motions" of giving a pedicure, because it looked like she was doing an awesome job, but to be honest, I've done better at home. In addition to that, I think my pedicure was rushed because more people began to arrive as the morning progressed. Perhaps her focus shifted from actually doing a good job on my pedicure ( the whole process, not just the polish) to moving quickly in order to accomodate the pickup in business. I don't want to say the experience was terrible because it wasn't. The pedicure cost me $20 and I tipped a few dollars extra, but I don't think the tip was well earned. Abigail is very sweet and soft spoken. The entire facial was relaxing , even while getting extractions done. She massaged my shoulders, arms , hands & scalp. AMAZING. Plus the actual facial itself was fantastic for me and my skin. I went to my previous esthetician for 5 years. She has semi retired. I was in a panic. No more worries, I found Abigail.
