I came in for a basic pedicure (about $34) and was the only customer in the salon. Even with no one else there, the service felt rushed and lacked effort. The tech was very light-handed and didn't thoroughly remove the dead skin from my heels. To make matters worse, once my pedicure was finished, I was asked to move to the drying station instead of drying in the pedicure chair. I was working during my appointment, so I had to pack up and move my laptop, devices, and other belongings for no apparent reason, despite the salon being empty. It was unnecessarily inconvenient. As my polish was drying, I noticed my heels were still rough. When I pointed it out, I was told I had chosen the basic pedicure and that I "needed a cheese grater." I disagreed. My (80 year old) longtime nail tech had never used a cheese grater and consistently leaves my heels smooth using standard tools and proper technique for my basic pedicure. What disappointed me most was that they refused to correct the issue, even though there were no other customers waiting. It would have taken just a few extra minutes to make things right. A basic pedicure should leave your feet feeling smooth, and good customer service means addressing reasonable concerns when they're brought up. Unfortunately, this salon did neither, and I won't be returning. Guest relations go a long way

However, I knew I would be in Houston this weekend, and did a search to see if any salon in the area specialized in the technique---and that's when I found Next Level. I was able to book my appointment online, and got a text message to confirm. At the salon, I met with my nail tech, and went over what I would be interested in doing as my design. My tech was very nice, and offered me a drink (I chose hot Vietnamese coffee) with everything from boba tea to soda to coffee to choose from. She got to work right away by first removing my old polish, went on with dry cuticle work, cut and reshaped my nails, and then got set with my new gel layer. I thought I would try an aura design, which required the use of an airbrush machine. I didn't realize it would take so much time, most of it due to the fact the machine had run out of charge - lol! My nail tech still did her best to be efficient. It took almost three hours, but at least I had a fresh set I was happy with. My nails now remind me of bubblegum pieces, lol! Each manicure also comes with a hand/arm massage and soak, so it was nice to wrap up the manicure with that. I also learned they offer Vietnamiese scalp massage, which is something I'd like to try in the near future.
