Kathleen's is nothing fancy, but, you are made to feel very welcome. They have COVID precautions in place, if that is a concern. The sylist acted like I was inconveniently there, wash my hair so hard I was wincing, didn't adjust the bowl at all, and washed my hair with ice cold water. When she finally slowed down and realized she was hurting me, instead of apologizing and slowing down, she got pissed and someone else will do it. I said no, it's just a little hard. After that terrible experience, we went to blow dry. Same thing. Hard brushing, and rushing to get me out. I went to Innovations 3 times to have my hair colored. For some reason, the hair color "red" is some kind difficult thing where owner and worker expound upon the difficulty and groused about having to color my hair. The first two times, my hair did not come out red - it was brown. The last time, after trying in vain to explain the color I wanted, I ended up with bright red on the roots (hot root?) with a totally different color on my ends. It was the owner of the salon who worked on my hair saying that the color was something "a floozy" would get. Obviously not going back - and can't believe I paid $80 with tip - to end up with hair that I had to immediately correct. This salon appears to be most comfortable with the "wash and set" crowd as elderly women and men appeared to be the most frequent clientele. If you are thinking about doing something as radical as getting your hair colored here, I'd rethink it.

Backstory: I am local, and I have been a customer of this salon, on and off, for about 15 years.  Over the years, I have been a client of two very good stylists: Jackie and Heather (who were not involved with the interaction below). Issue: Bait-and-switch on kids haircuts--when scheduling I was quoted a max of $35; however, I was charged $60 plus (per haircut) at closeout for a number of kids haircuts.  Thick hair was the reasoning.  If the salon's website had a disclaimer that this was a policy, or a verbal beforehand about the pricing differentials, we'd have a non issue (that said, I would have gone elsewhere).  As I mentioned above, it's the last minute bait-and-switch, and then being completely ignored by the owners to discuss my displeasure with the experience.   Bottom line: If you are someone who makes an effort to support local businesses, I would think twice about this establishment.  I feel like I was treated like a disposable suburban customer--which clearly was the case. Look around, there are plenty of other hair salons in the area that would be grateful to have your business.

I got a partial foil, wash and blow out and I found the pricing extremely fair. We chatted like we were old friends and the space was clean and inviting. I ended up rebooking because she is much closer than my long time stylist and I loved my blonde she did. She's a newer stylist I believe but for blonde highlights on thick/regular hair like mine I would DEFINITELY recommend her. I will update after my haircut next time. I was going to a wedding that night and she offered to throw curls in for free but I wasn't sure if I wanted to go straight or curly so I declined but her blow out was really good and it was nice she offered.
