UPDATE: Raven is trying to get my review taken down across all review sites. This is likely why she…read morehas such a high rating on most platforms. Seems like she may remove negative reviews (attached). Here are the facts: - The morning of I told the artist to keep the same look as the trial and was surprised she didn't. Only adjustment was swapping the gloss to satin light pink lipstick. - The artist didn't do the same eye look. Part of which I could live with (the shadow change since we were thinking about doing that. But sad it wasn't something I consented to) but the eyelashes change I could not live with. So I had the artist fix the lashes to what we had during the trial and she admitted she didn't know which ones she used during the trial. I have texts saying I want to keep the same eyelashes (attached). The bridesmaid hairstylist also commented after the fact that this is why wedding makeup artists are suppose to take notes to avoid mishaps like this (heard from my bridesmaids). - We were an hour late to my photos due to the artists mistake and time needed to fix it. Raven says it's my fault we were late since I asked the artist to fix her mistake. So if an artist does a bad job, I am suppose to say nothing? - During the outfit change I only wanted the artist to add my Tikka (indian hair jewlery) to my hair and touch up existing makeup. Without my consent she darkened my lipstick which gave me a heavy makeup look I did not want. All my inspo was light pink, even the indian inspo was light pink. We didn't have time to fix it since we were already behind so I left it as is which the artist took as accepting the change. She should have communicated before hand, but didn't. And did a drastic change when every second counted. Definitely think she saw my indian outfit and thought that I needed heavy makeup. My outfit was also a pastel/dusty green. It would have been beautiful with light pink. - Raven says me asking to fix my makeup in the morning is my fault, but also just letting go the unwanted makeup change in the afternoon also my fault. So if I say something I am at fault, if I don't I am also at fault. Make that make sense. - Her contract is scary says that the artist has final say on the look, not the client (attached). So my opinion doesn't matter. Which makes sense why the artist did her own thing on my wedding day. She knew she couldn't get in trouble. This alone is reason enough for you to not book, you don't get a say in how you look. - I put out my review to warn other brides that while Raven says she cares about brides on their wedding day, she clearly does not. If the trial didn't matter I need money back ($600) for that since it was pointless and she wasted an hour of my video and photos time ($500 total). There is another review below that had similar issues with Raven and her team. Seems like this is an ongoing problem of hers. -- Original -- I would not hire Raven Reed or her team. I had my trial done and wanted to keep the same look for my wedding and my makeup artist went rogue on my wedding day and did a completely different look. I asked her to fix it which put us an hour behind schedule and Raven and team blamed me for being behind schedule when the makeup artist didn't do the correct look so I needed them to fix it. I had an outfit change later to an Indian lehenga and the makeup artist without asking changed my make up to be dark. This is not what I wanted for my wedding day. We were already behind so I didn't say anything. It felt racist that because I am Indian she assumed I wanted a darker/heavier makeup look when all my inspo was light/fresh to a soft glam look. I did not ask for a makeup change nor wanted one. The makeup artist made changes to my look based on what she thought looked better not what I thought looked better. By the back and forth from Raven, she already made up her opinion before reading my email and honestly doesn't care. She says she doesn't want brides to feel this way but doesn't take accountability and uses language like, "I'm sorry you feel that way". Reframing it to be a you issue and not a her issue. The refund she speaks about is inly $200 for the 1 hour I paid for extended touchups. I want the cost of my trial refunded since that was pointless since the makeup artist did her own thing and she refuses to refund that. Also, your makeup artist will change a few months before your wedding and their is nothing you can do. She swapped my artist a few months before my wedding and I had no choice per her contract to except the change. So this is a warning, if you don't want to be surprised on your wedding day do not book Raven or her team! This is not a luxury service, this is a scam.

Raven was an absolute pleasure to work with. I don't normally wear much makeup, and she created a…read morelook that perfectly elevated my natural features while still feeling completely like me. I looked beautiful, and when I see photos from the day, I still see myself -- just the best version of me. Raven also did hair and makeup for our sisters and moms, and she brought two other artists to round out her team. They were all incredible -- full of good energy, laughter, and calm. The morning felt joyful and relaxed, and I didn't feel a single ounce of stress once I sat in her chair. On top of her talent, Raven was professional and organized. My coordinator commented on how great her communication was, and my photographer was impressed with how punctual and efficient she and her team were. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!

I got married in New York City this past May and my wedding party and I loved, loved, loved the…read morewonderful person who did our makeup that day. We loved her so much, my matron of honor considered flying her out to do our makeup for the reception we were having in California later that year. (Then the reality of the cost set in.) Luckily, fate led me to Vanessa Artistry / Beauty Mark Ink. Vanessa came to my house with everything ready to go--makeup, lighting and everything needed to glam us up. She was a professional perfectionist, ensuring me and my gals looked and felt our very best. We are a bunch of middle-aged women; youth was not on our side, but this pro did wonders for us! I'll admit, I was a little nervous wondering if anyone was going to be able to live up to the wonderful artist who did our makeup back in May, but my fear was for not. Vanessa was wonderful! A true artist!

This review for my August 2017 wedding is long overdue! What…read moreamazing service! From beginning to end, I had a great experience with Andrea and Vanessa. I thoroughly did my research and contacted about 15 hair and makeup artists and had a methodical spreadsheet approach on cost, what each business offered, and if they had airbrush makeup, since my friends who have gotten married before highly recommended it. Keep in mind, I am not really into makeup on a day to day basis, and I have a headful of frizzy curls that I can't manage on a daily basis. I was also nervous about my face being too overdone or not looking like myself. Vanessa and Andrea were quick to respond to emails from day one. They were flexible in dates for my hair & makeup trial, and were able to accommodate me in the bedroom of my 1 bedroom condo. I loved the way the trial went- the airbrush makeup looked flawless and my hair was awesome! PRO TIP: Schedule your hair & makeup THE SAME DAY as when you go wedding dress shopping- it REALLY helps put the entire look together and visualize how everything will look on your wedding day. MAKE SURE to add buffer time from your hair & make up appointment to getting to your dress appointment. After the trial, I wrote them notes about what I did and didn't like afterwards, and they easily accommodated me. They recommended for a fuller look that I get extensions, and Andrea came by my house once again to make sure she ordered the right color. Vanessa went into a lot of detail as to what was included in the VIP service, which is what I ended up investing in. That includes them coming to the venue and doing a touch up. Fast forward to the wedding day- they arrived on time, and they really helped set the tone of the entire day. They were mellow, easy to get along with, and my bridesmaids, mother in law and sister in law all felt at ease with them. 2 of my bridesmaids also had curly hair, and they looked absolutely BEAUTIFUL with their hair and makeup done. Everyone looked gorgeous and at the sametime, themselves. ONE MORE PRO TIP: In addition to how much Vanessa estimates for your hair & makeup, add in an extra half hour on top of that to put your dress, shoes, and jewelry on when putting your wedding timeline together. With all the hecticness, that extra half hour really was needed! I am so glad I invested in the VIP service- Vanessa and Andrea had set up in the Japanese Tea House which I had rented extra at the Piedmont Community Hall. It was a perfect setup for them. Before and after the ceremony they were on standby to touch up makeup. After shedding a few tears, this was much needed! It set up me up for my makeup & hair to last the entire night. Andrea even got off some sticky glitter that mysteriously appeared on my husband- lol! The hair and makeup was a true investment, and to be quite honest, more than I had budgeted to spend. But when I look back at my wedding pictures and videography, I am SO glad I chose Beauty Mark. I felt so beautiful and flawless on one of the biggest days of my life, which is so important on your wedding day! I would happily recommend them to any bride. They truly added to my amazing day.
