Here's the skinny: The service: Dr. Joseph is incredible. He has his finger on the pulse of what's brand new and most effective for your face and body goals. He is so personable and even used a special device to safely map my facial vein patterns to avoid any damage with fillers and botox. I'll be honest, I get a little nervous trying new procedures or injectables and he is super knowledgable, so I was completely put at ease. The man knows how to put filler in with zero pain too. I underwent the MOXI laser therapy and my right eye was not covered properly and I currently have keratitis due to this damage from the laser. I am a physician as well and I spoke with the medical director, Dr. Demetria. Dr. Demetria is a GI trained physician who contradicted the diagnosis of an ophthalmologist and treated me in a very disrespectful, inappropriate manner. Instead of trying to take care of the problem, or acknowledge any issues to prevent this from happening to anyone else, he tried to deflect blame and counsel me on the different causes of keratitis. He also tried to blame me for not checking in sooner. Instead of trying to get my feedback and ask for my experience to prevent this from happening to someone else, he insisted that his protocol was followed, even though he was not there during my appointment. There are risks and complications that come along with any procedure, and it is important that people are treated in a compassionate way when this occurs. Dr. Demetria runs this med spa, and was unprofessional, lacked empathy and clearly has one bottom line- that is not patient care. They tried to offer me store credit- I would never return to this spa. I will continue to escalate this matter. Look elsewhere, do not come here, I truly wish I hadn't. ***EDITED AFTER RESPONSE FROM MIKE DEMETRIA*** As a physician, you should understand the concept of an ophthalmologist colleague that was kind enough to examine and diagnose me in between his clinic patients when I was concerned about a week of progressive photophobia and blurry vision. This is why I do not have formal documentation, as I explained over the phone. As a physician, I would hope that you understand the importance of scope of practice and expertise, it is one thing that a gastroenterologist is supervising these procedures with no formal dermatologic clinical training or expertise. Furthermore, you go one step further in trying to discredit the evaluation and opinion of a board certified ophthalmologist in the diagnosis of keratitis. Mike Demetria was defensive and tried to shift blame from our initial conversation. There was no effort to understand or try to prevent this from happening to future patients. I encourage others to take caution, this is not a patient centered practice and Mike Demetrius clearly has one goal- profit at all costs. As advised, I will continue to escalate.
