Please beware of this store! I've been shopping here for almost a year and never felt more uncomfortable. Today, when I first came into the store I started to look at lashes. When I look to my left and one of the workers was literally so close to me basically monitoring me trying to see over my shoulder and to possibly put his hands on me. All for 5 dollar lashes that I've bought dozens of times before. And then when I noticed he quickly resided back to his spot. I already felt some type of way before because they make you check your bag. But this is so ridiculous to make your customer feel like a criminal right when you enter the store. I have never been the type of person to write reviews online but this warning needs to be shared. Today I went to Beauty 35 to pickup a bottle of manic panic classic voltage hair dye in hot hot pink. I had 3 bottles of this dye at home that were purchased from the official manic panic website just wanted an extra one for security. Upon closer inspection once I got home I realized that the bottle I purchased in the beauty supply was FAKE. There were blatant variations to the label that looked nothing like the 100% authentic bottles I bought online. Everything from the ingredients to the actual color of the dye was different, I mean just look at the pictures and compare for yourself. (the larger bottle is the authentic one and the smaller bottle is the fake purchased today) I've shopped here for years and now I wonder what other fake products I've purchased from here without knowing.... As a black woman I would like to warn my brothers and sisters DO NOT BUY PRODUCTS HERE. Things like bonnets, beads, combs may be safer to purchase but who knows what they could be doing to those too. This store already gives off extremely racist vibes but the fake products are just the icing on the cake. Not to mention how filthy the store is....I will no longer be giving beauty 35 another DIME and I suggest others dont either unless you're extremely desperate. Its really sad how these beauty supply stores take advantage of and exploit our black dollars. A beauty supply store is always necessary but this store is expensive! You can definitely tell the difference between this area and the one in other areas in Brooklyn like Bed-stuy and East NY. I needed other flexi-rods for my hair along with a Denman brush and my satin hair cap but I wasn't feeling the prices. Only because it was very late during the day and I also needed to do other errands afterwards, I walked to the cashier in hesitance. I kept thinking I can get these things cheaper but I ended up surrendering my credit card to purchase the items. Sigh... Overall, the store is very well stocked and any consumers should be able to get they need as they carry a lot of different brands. Service was good; no complaints in that department. read more

Standard beauty supply shop, but the service here was awful. I walked in when there was nobody else in there and wanted to buy hair extensions. The girl at the counter offered to help me, but then as soon as another customer walked in, she was helped first! What in the world?! So I just awkwardly walk around, and when I found some other employees, they just told me to go back up to the front desk where I was originally ignored! They do have all the beauty supplies you could ever want though which is why it's 2 stars instead of 1. Just make sure you check all the expiration dates before purchasing, it's non-refundable merchandise and you should be careful about what you put on your skin/hair. read more

As you walk in the workers watch you as if your going to steal. I don't let that bother me anymore in life but at times it's annoying. I asked a worker for help and he was leaning on his phone. I asked if they carried a certain type of hair. WITHOUT looking up from his phone he said "Yeah that way" and pointed in the direction. I walked that direction and there were two opposite walls with A LOT of hair. So I asked again where and he sounded annoyed with his response and said "Right there on the left wall." Meanwhile he never just came to point it out so I still had to semi look for it on my own. I found the hair, paid for it and left. Reading the reviews from past years I see nothing has changed. You would think they would care to read the reviews and seek to improve their customer service. With the exception of the young ladies behind the counters at the front and one of the men who was kind, everyone else has been rude and treat the black people like they are criminals. No matter how many times I have gone to that store to spend my hard earned money, I am literally watched like a hawk and treated as if I'm going to steal a cheap $1.99 hair clip or hair product. The oldest man in the store and the other man who I think might be one of his sons are extremely rude and make me feel very uncomfortable. Just the other week my mom told me that her and a couple of her friends were there to purchase items and the older man followed them out of the store as if he was checking to see that they didn't take anything with them. Another time she returned an item the very next day. The older man at first did not want to accept it, and then proceeded to thoroughly inspect the item in front of her. I really wish black people would take a stand and stop giving them business. They continue to mistreat us because we still are giving them business regardless. Either install cameras or take some training to learn how to properly observe customers in the store. I refuse to go back. No idea what happened here. What was once a favorite is definitely a favorite no more. I walked in looking for a direct temp dye and it wasn't on the shelf. It was a million people in the store but the derelict who was supposed to be assisting people was having a casual conversation. I walked past him to another worker and asked for help. The derelict guy had the nerve to ask me what I needed when I found someone else to assist. I needed help ‍‍ So I walk to the aisle to see if they could check the back for my color & was told they don't have it. He tried to walk me to the box dyes and I said I don't use box dyes. He said that's your problem. I said "what did you say?" He repeated what he said and I walked off while he continued talking about shipment. This beauty supply store is within walking distance to my job. I only visit the place when I'm in a pinch and absolutely need a specific product. My least favorite quality about the place is how all employees watch you like a hawk the moment you walk in. While I understand the need for security and how important it is to stop theft, you can't make your clients feel uncomfortable by having an employee following you down the isle or when you see an employees head dart in and out of an isle your in. Also absolutely no returns and very strict rules while opening things and trying things on. Customers need to feel good when coming into a business, when you feel good you spend more. When you feel like an automatic criminal, its not worth the hassle with so many other options around New York City. read more

This place is amazing! I got lost in the store like a kid in a candy store. They have everything i need; from a better brand like Paul Mitchell, Deva Curl, Carroll's Daughter, Moroccan Oil, Miss Jessie's, etc to regular products like Tresemme, Aveeno, Pantene. I loved their selections. They have make up products, hair, wigs, hair dyes and jewelleries (esp. loved the tiaras) in a good deal compared to other stores. Last time, when i went there, one of the workers recommended me to use a 'Shea Moisture Cocunut and Hisbiscus Soap' for my blemishes and dryness. I couldn't believe a face soap can be this good to me. My skin feels softer and blemishes are lighter than before. I absolutely loved it. Plus, the people who worked there were very friendly and knowledgeable in what they were selling! They helped me with the extension hair and the hair dye as i was very indecisive of which one to get. I was so surprise to find a store like this.Because I could find everything that I need it for my hair problem. They have everything but I mean everything.I was looking for some hair extensions clips and it was very hard for me to find the same color as my hair......I'm amazed that I was able to find it in Beauty 35 in Brooklyn.Now I will definitely will be back,I love the service they provide and the attention they give you. Besides that they have every product like: Moroccan Oil the all line of it,Joico,Salerm,Alter-ego etc.and this is just to mention a few of them. DO NOT spend your hard earned money in #Beauty35 on Fulton st (Fulton Mall). I was just in there and the short middle eastern dude was very nasty to a black couple. A older woman was simply trying to buy a wig. She said she was going to buy it and was only touching the hair while it was still in the package. This little person SNATCHED the package out of her hands and yelled "you pay first!" Now there I was with a $100 wig in my hands seriously considering buying it when this happened. I told him that he was "very rude and that's not how you should treat customers. You entire clientele are people of color." He didn't seem to care at all about the fact that I put the wig down and said I would never come back. Maybe if more people stood up to this blatant racism he'd care more. THIS PLACE IS RACIST AND THEY DISCRIMINATE!!!!! If I could give 0 or negative stars I would!! I purchased 6 items and was charged for 7. I left the register to let the next customer pay for their items and to check that I had the correct charge. And noticed I was charged for an additional item. I turned back and the cashier vanished. I told a different cashier and he asked who rang me up. I told him there was a woman standing there, but she's gone now. He called some other guy over. They spoke in their language and the guy that was called over took my receipt. Thinking that he was going to give my money back, but instead he goes to the security camera and checks to see if I stole something. Like what kind of business is this!! I spent $60 and they want to say that I'm stealing!! When I confronted the man he was looking at me as I was a monster. The cashier reappeared again and acted like nothing is wrong. She new that she messed up when she rang me up. They have horrible customer service, they are racist and think everyone steals. THE WORST PLACE EVER!! I would NEVER go back there!! read more

For those who live in the Brooklyn area, you need to check out this Beauty supply store. It has everything from high end to low end and everything in between. I was on my way home when I saw this place and decided to go in with my daughter. I was on the hunt for Dominican Magic and well as the Alter Ego hair dye. My daughter was looking for the Pravana hair colors and Macadamia deep repair mask that is raved about in YouTube. We found everything and everyone that works there are super nice and were able to help us out making decisions and gladly answered all of our questions without trouble. I spent way too much money on an overpriced wig which was suppose to be 360 lace wig 22 inches and turned out to be 16 inches and the lace frontal barely had any lace space. This was the worst wig I have ever bought and I feel very taken advantage of. The store seller knew it was not 22 inches and not a full 360 frontal and she lied just to make a sale. I went to another beauty supply store to buy more hair to add since the already very thin wig had thinned out even more with every wash and the seller at that other beauty supply store told me my wig was only 16 inches and gave me an 18 inch bundle to measure and it was definitely shorter than the 18 inches. I'm extremely upset because I paid $220.00 for this horrible rip off of a wig and they did not want to give me my money back. You can even see the separation between the wig and the frontal! Its well organized so I can find my products on my own, but even if I couldn't I wouldn't hesitate to ask for assistant.
