As I am just visiting the area, I visited all the shops nearby. My favorite is Beau Monde Lux as they curate higher end pieces for very decent pricing through consignment. The Exchange has a daily allowance of one bag to be reviewed for store credit or cash which is nice if you want to just drop by to see what they can use and maybe find a piece you cannot live without. The outlet has more of a goodwill feel to it but still worth the stop for casual, sportwear or if you find yourself unprepared in need of a coat! read more

While no business is immune from unfair complaints, publicly attacking customers rather than responding professionally reflects poorly on this establishment. In addition, the owner has been openly vocal online about political positions. Business owners are entitled to their beliefs, however, when those views are publicly promoted in connection with the business, they become part of the brand. While I know many individuals in the area may share these positions, consumers who are mindful of where they direct their spending, particularly in today's political climate, may want to consider this context. Beyond the online presence, my in-store experiences have also been disappointing. On more than one occasion, employees have failed to greet or acknowledge me, and I have stood at the counter waiting for assistance while staff members walked by without engaging. Although many staff members appear to be high school students, which is not inherently problematic, a basic level of attentiveness and customer service is expected and doesn't go unnoticed. as I was entering the store there was a large SUV parked in front where the curb is painted red, the entire front end was over the crosswalk and fully blocking the wheelchair access. When I entered I informed the young lady who greeted me, her reply was that the owner of the vehicle worked there. I explained whether they do or don't they are blocking the wheelchair access. "Well she's only parking there for 5 mins, the owner does the same thing when loading her car." I explained I work with the special needs community and what she is doing is wrong. Her response was "well good thing nobody in a wheelchair is coming in." I declined to make an appointment for a drop off of my items. Excusing anything like that is not somewhere I am interested in doing any sort of business with. read more

Beau Monde was once a Gem! This store had its decline early 2025, was it change in management? Staffing issues? Or all of that mixed together? I'm not sure but I do hope the owner turns it around. For the benefit of the store, the staff, and the community who once loved Beau Monde. This store use to be my absolute favorite, the cutest unique clothing, great prices, and great service! Now, I walk in and I'm hardly greeted by the staff, even on the slowest of days I've visited. You're lucky if you get a smile, which I'm sure is more so reflected on their treatment rather than them personally. I was in not too long ago, with a bad taste already forming. I was standing in line when the manager was stomping around, audibly sighing , rolling her eyes, slamming stuff on counters, frantically pacing around and then proceeded to take a personal phone call, how do I know it was personal call you ask? It was on speaker and she stood right at the front of the store! I then watched her look another customer up and down. She didn't welcome them, more so judged them! That wasn't the only time I've had a bad experience with her. These poor girls! No wonder they aren't smiling. That type of management behavior causes high stress levels. I've come here so many times and have had a great experience. Today, I did not. The Assistant Manager, Tianna was extremely rude and sarcastic when speaking to me. I have never felt so unwelcomed. She scolded me for not having my bag tied correctly, which I would have happily done- no need for negativity. I was on the floor trying to tie my bag to her liking, and she told me it may work and if not they'd pass on the bag. At the same time another customer came in and asked a question and Tianna was equally as rude to her. That customer's reaction was same as mine, shocked and disappointed that someone would speak to us that way for asking a question. She turned around and left. At that point, I left too, and donated my clothes to UGM. These clothes were all name brand too- Lulu, Mother, Madewell, Alo, Free People. In conclusion, I won't be coming back. I'm pretty sure based on the responses from the owner on the other Yelp posts that gave a less than positive review, I'll be told what I did wrong, and how my experience was my fault because their policy for a tied bag is something this gal clearly couldn't get right. read more

This used to be such a good business but over the last couple of years it has become nearly unrecognizable. For years I brought my clothes to them for resale and used the store credit to purchase others. They offered a fair price for my lightly used clothes. The last time I took clothes there I had 2 pairs of name brand dress pants, one pair with the tags still on. There were also other clothes with them and some of the others were never worn. When they called me with the offer (which was the next day, slower than usual) they offered $5 for the whole bag. I told them no, picked back up my bag of clothes and put them in the trunk of my car where I forgot about them for a few months. By the time I went back through the bag both pairs of name brand pants were missing. I never bothered to contacted the store, it had been so long at that point since it happened I felt it was pointless. But I was so upset I never went into one of their stores again. In the time since then I've seen others share similar experiences on social media as well hearing firsthand from friends. I know at least half a dozen others who had the same thing happen, when they decline the lowball offer and got their bag back it is missing items. One of my friends went back to the store the next day and the employees told her it's not possible that she didn't get all her clothes back. I could understand an occasional accident like that happening but I'm hearing the same thing shared by others in our community. If these problems weren't bad enough the owner (Brooke Miller) is the most arrogant, rude business owner I've encountered in a long time. She is regularly on social media looking for people "bad mouthing" her business and aggressively and rudely responds to every single negative comment about her business. When I commented on a recent social media post with what happened to me her response to me was obvious that she hadn't even read my (short) description of my experience. She aggressively engaged with every person who said something negative (and there were a lot) until the post was shut down. I've seen her do the same thing MULTIPLE times on Facebook for months now. It seems like she spends more time attacking people online who had something negative to say than she does actually trying to fix the problems people are complaining about. It's to the point that it doesn't even matter anymore what the complaints are, there are so many people who have now had a bad experience that something has to be wrong with how the stores are being run. I've been to the Beau Monde Exchange a handful of times in the last month since moving here from Hawaii. I love the clothes, prices & staff!! Everytime I go in I leave some a new awesome piece of clothing! I recently went to the beau monde exchange event that took place in Hayden. I spent $30 ($20 for early admission, $10 to fill a bag) & left with 36 pieces of clothing, 3 bags & a pair of earrings. SOOOOO WORTH IT! Very rarely do I experience a certain level of customer service that compels a review, but Beu Monde's lack of proper management, inconsistent pricing, and inability to appeal to customers defines this store as something it will always be; a wannabe Goodwill. When entering Beu Monde, I was pleased to hear that there was a store wide sale going on with the majority of the store being 15% off or more. Although it took 30+ minutes to get into a changing room to try on the one shirt I could find from their abysmal male selection, a deal is a deal. However, my family found a few articles of clothing that in the end amounted to a decently large order. NOW THIS IS WHERE THINGS GET INTERESTING! Along with the 15% off coming from the sale, management placed a sign saying an additional 20% off would be taken off if a review was written on yelp. One of the members of our family then wrote a short, basic review on the store. We just wanted the money. However, upon checking out we realized that we did not get the discount as promised even though we had already checked out. Although the two employees working at the register were eager to help us out and understood the problem at hand, their manager Hanna came in on her broomstick to ruin the day. She expressed to us that the amount we were saving was "too large" and they could not afford to give us both discounts. Although the charges were already made onto my account, Hanna said that there was little to no compensation that could be given. On top of this, Hanna was rude to her fellow employees, getting angry that they even brought up the idea of a refund (as if those words had never been spoken in the store). Maybe if the store had better management, the $60 wouldn't mean so much to you guys. Although I went into Beu Monde with the hopes of getting a few cheap pieces of good second hand clothing, I left being $60 in the hole. People like Hanna remind me of why certain businesses fade into obscurity. Bad management will forever lessen employee retention, loyal customers, and eventual profits. While my below comment used to hold true, I've been forced to update my review to a single star due to the owner vehemently ignoring the mandatory mask mandate in Kootenai County. Against the interests of her employees, patrons, and community, she is blatantly violating the mandatory mask mandate and putting everyone at risk. So, a year ago I wrote of my disappointment in Beau Monde and after being told "animal print is out" lo and behold! The store is full of it!!!I Love a good TOLD YOU SO...Shopping with a friend, we were able to find lots of boho chic style for her and some leopard for me! The low ball trade in value can still use some improvement ($7 for a whole garbage bag full) especially since they accepted all the pieces. Attitudes were friendlier than last year and I love the coupons and discounts they offer you! You could visit every one of their three stores in one day with coupons given after each purchase! Unless you're willing to give up your items for literally a couple pennies on the dollar, don't trust it. I want my clothes back! I thought it would be fairly easy... I had a Kate Spade purse, never worn, Michael Kors, shoes, coach, Tennies, Fubu's shoes, barely worn, vintage, leather, full link, jacket with fur, and a whole bunch of other items. They wanted to deal with the hassle I could've easily got over 100 $150, and that's just on the stuff that I've mentioned. I received $29 in credit. I thought that since I owe them 24 hours to get back to them with her except their offer, I expected the same.
