She took care of all the set up and clean up, so we could fully focus on our sessions and without having to worry about the kitchen. My favorite thing about Susan is her food philosophy. She only sources organic and local ingredients - and I mean really local since she gets many of her ingredients from the San Rafael farmers market. Her menu is colorful, nutritious, and plant forward, which to me is super important when trying to keep a team energized through 8+ hour meetings! You can tell that she cooks for her clients the same way she would cook for her own family. She doesn't take any shortcuts and puts so much love in her food that you can feel and taste it! Susan is also extremely professional. She went above and beyond in coordinating directly with our venue's property manager to become an approved caterer for the site, and organized site visits before our offsite to ensure everything would run smoothly. During our offsite, she was respectful of the flow of our agenda and was flexible when we fell off schedule (which we often did). My team was utterly impressed by Susan. Not only was her food out of this world, but she is kind and professional, and everyone was very comfortable having her basically in the same room with us for the majority of our meeting. We can't wait for an opportunity to work with her again!

She was a joy to work with during the menu planning process and great company during the event. After reaching out to Susan through email, she scheduled a phone meeting to discuss the menu. She was personable and easy to talk to, which made it easy to share with her my vision for the event, from which she had so many thoughtful suggestions and even event planning tips. We exchanged a couple more emails after that to fine tune the details. On the day of the event, she was on time and put together beautiful platters of food. She suggested an Italian theme (since the bride is getting married in Italy), so Susan prepared pizzettas and pita chips with various dips (her harisa dip was a crowd favorite) for appetizers, a beautiful salad with grapefruit and little gem lettuce, handmade pasta with kale pesto, roasted butternut squash with a yogurt sauce, braised chicken thighs with lemon herb sauce and a decadent flourless chocolate cake with lavender infused whipped cream for dessert. Everything was made from scratch (pasta, pita chips, everything!) and from fresh, in-season ingredients from the farmer's market. The food was tasty and healthful (so many compliments from the ladies at dinner), exactly what I wanted for our wellness-themed bachelorette party. I wholeheartedly recommend Susan and would book her again in a heartbeat for another event. Thank you for everything Susan!

I reached out to Lorraine through e-mail, she replied very quickly, and we corresponded several times before the day of the lesson. She asked what dishes (we) wanted to make, we agreed on the soup, noodles & the cost of the lesson. She did all of the shopping, we just had to show up & were taught how to do everything, every step of the way. She was so nice, sweet, funny and such a great teacher. She invited us into her home for the lesson. We had an unforgettable experience, taught us so much and made it fun! She taught us how to be more confident when cooking and how not to be intimidated. It was worth every penny and delicious!! We were so excited learning from her, and she motivated us to continue cooking after the lesson. We have made the Long Life Noodles & War Won Ton Soup since then, & Eric has gotten great at making won tons with all kinds of filling! Taking her cooking class is worth it and worth every penny!

This was everything I could have asked for in a cooking class…read more The Mama Thai experience was a birthday present from my family for the four of us to do together. I have a decent amount of Thai cooking experience, while the rest of my family had none. Still, we all learned quite a bit, and had fun doing it! Jirayu has a beautiful home, and we immediately felt welcome and at ease. She's been doing this for more than 20 years. She and her daughter Saorise had stations set up for us, each with their own propane burner, tools, wok, and ingredients. We chose to make green papaya salad, red curry fried rice, and green curry eggplant with bamboo and rice noodles. After settling in, we started on the first of our dishes. We worked at a good pace, and Jirayu kept an eye on how we were doing, providing feedback where necessary. We made and ate each dish one at a time. It is an understatement to say that they turned out absolutely delicious! By the end of the first dish, we knew that we wanted to come back and do a few more menu items. Through each menu item, Jirayu talked about the brands she uses that have a more authentic Thai flavor. We talked about coconut milk, fish sauce, bamboo shoots, and palm sugar to name a few, and surprisingly some of the best brands were not Thai! She has also done her research on more healthy cooking, finding ways to omit MSG and unnecessary additives, and to make recipes more vegetarian-friendly. She herself is a pescatarian like me! One really neat trick that we learned is to use a juicer to make curry paste from scratch! If you've ever tried to make curry paste, it can be a long process with a mortar and pestle. I've take around 45 minutes to do it myself, and it makes for sore arm and hand muscles, for sure. For green curry paste, we spent probably five minutes using the juicer technique, and the results were amazing! We had plenty of extras to take home. Jirayu was also very generous with her time and answered so many of our questions. We even got to play with her dog, Ziggy!

Not only was her cooking class engaging, but she was knowledgeable, friendly, well prepared, had an awesome Chef's kitchen, and cleanliness was as important to her as it was to us. We came here for an off-site to do some team building like cooking. This is not my first cooking class, nor will it be my last, but this is definitely the best cooking class I've ever taken. And I've taken them all. I've taken Italian food cooking classes, dessert cooking classes, and your good old-fashioned American Cooking Class, but this one blew me away. I'm not going to lie, we had a busy group that had to take business calls and work inbetween cooking, and Jirayu took it all in stride. She even had a sense of humor saying we were the only group should have ordered three entrees without any dessert or appetizers LOL. Our first dish was spicy crab which was prepared fresh by us, but was chopped up and cleaned by her. Our next dish was the pad thai. Our third dish was chicken Pumpkin Curry. We were broken out in two teams of two, and each team would prepare its own meal. Not to brag or anything but we had the best Pad Thai, even the instructor said that. I also liked how the instructor accommodated a vegetarian in our class, and was able to accommodate people who liked Spicy Thai food on a scale from 1 to 10 with 1 being wild and 10 being flaming hot. For those who wanted flaming hot our instructor was nice enough to take out some Chili's to make the dish extra extra spicy. She told us she does this as her full-time job, and I support her 100%. She's an awesome cook and a great instructor. Take her class you won't regret it!

I really enjoyed it, Giovanna is easy to follow and she does not only explain well what shes doing but also why (for example the advantages of soaking or massaging ingredients and the nutritional benefits of the ingredients). With Giovanna, I wanted to take it a level up and really loose some weight. Giovanna is very understanding and calm. It sounds very weird sometimes to explain and say things we eat and do, but she listened without any judgments. We created a meal plan for me so that I knew what and how much I could eat. Giovanna kept emphasizing that if I'm hungry I need to eat. I think that's the most important lesson I learned. Eating when I'm hungry and making healthy choices. I was surprised that I could eat five small meals a day which is more than I would usually eat. So, I was quite motivated to start the meal plan. But, the first few weeks were hard. That's because it is difficult to always eat healthy because we are surrounded by unhealthy food. Plus, I don't want to get super picky because then I can't meet friends for dinners any more. So, I tried my best but got demotivated after a few weeks. It was much harder than I thought (I never felt hungry, because that's not part of the plan). Every time I met with Giovanna, I felt charged and motivated. She is full of helpful advice. One thing she said - that stuck with me - is that if we eat 80% healthy, we don't need to feel bad about the other 20%. It's a lifestyle we are following, not a religion. So, we make mistakes, we can't be perfect, but we want to enjoy life. That view makes her so very different. And when I fully understood what it meant, I lost some weight. Before, I had seen Giovanna's help as a way to loosing weight but then I understood it's more than that, it's a lifestyle. I'm 7 pounds lighter now, and that's just the start. I highly recommend working with Giovanna, you should definitely call her and tell her what you want to achieve. She'll get you there!
