But lucky me, it was open and after a few seconds someone appeared and chatted to me about this bakery. It has been in Grandview for years and while it does sell to the average customer like myself, it does most of its business through wholesale/bulk. I could be going nuts, but I think he said they supply the breads/pastries for all Cameron Mitchell's locations. I must have come in at a bad time because the shelves that would normally contain breads and pastries (I presume) were nearly empty and the lights seemed to be on only in half of the small store. I asked why it was so dark and he just said that it was Saturday and they don't get much traffic in on game days...energy conservation?.... Anyway, I am happy to have found them as they would be great suppliers of party foods on the cheap like their packages of flax seed crackers. They also would be helpful to those who have intolerance to wheat as they carry Spelt- a bread made with organic spelt flour. Loaves of bread are between 2 and 3 lbs and have no shortening or oils, no eggs or milk products, no preservatives, additives or colorings.

When I got home, I tried the sourdough bread and it was delicious. I've made grilled cheese with it and it was very good. And, the next morning we toasted it with our eggs. This bread is well worth the $10 cost. She has an extensive website of items that she makes each week and you can order them through the website and pick them up at her farm stand at her house. The communication was great - you order and pay online ahead of time and then pick up is a breeze. I got confirmation of my order promptly and a follow up to let me know the food would be ready as expected. They also provided reheating directions for the black bean chili, as well as a list of suggested toppings that I might want to have on hand. It was nice to get this in advance, since I was able to add some items to my regular shopping list to have on hand. At pick up, the friendly staff person managing the tent quickly found our nicely packed bag. The food itself was delicious. The black bean chili was absolutely devoured in one sitting - they offer a larger size, which is what I would have to get in the future! It was delicious accompanied by the cornbread and biscuits. The beet hummus is, as one might guess, a gorgeous and eye-catching pink and is very good with crudites, crackers, and pita bread. The baked goods were all gluten free and there were a lot of great options: additional flavors of cupcakes, waffles, breads, cookies, and more. I also purchased a 6-pack of personal sized pizza crusts. Because I dropped them and broke the whole package on the way home, I have been making flatbread with Italian seasoning and olive oil, and I really like this! They're a great size for pizza or for making salad scoopers and I will purchase again. The shop also has different flavors of waffles, including savory varieties. I might pick up some of those to make chicken and waffles!

The focaccia bread and the ham and cheese breakfast strata seemed to be the most popular items. They have several kinds of iced tea drinks and a nitro cold brew that hit the spot. The woman (owner?) was there all by herself and working hard with a friendly smile for all. The chocolate chip cookies were soft, salty and satisfying!
