Desiree came to our house today to clean the house and the Airbnb, approx 2,000sf. She was by herself and it took 3 hours and cost me $300. Unfortunately I was not home when she was finished so she left and I sent her the money. BIG MISTAKE. This house does not take 3 hours to clean and by no means should this work be at $100/hr rate. Some of the house was clean, most of it (the parts you get a cleaning service for) was not. The house was recently renovated so needed a deep cleaning. I am in the middle of sanding the stairs and they were left in the same condition she walked into. The rag in the pictures are what I used to clean them after she left. When I called her she said she mopped them, swept them, and vacuumed. You be the judge? The baseboards downstairs were not clean - visual dust without even bending down, fridge was left the same, oven top not cleaned, even the bathroom niche was dirty, food cans in open cabinets just pushed to the back to make it seem like contents were taken out and cabinet properly wiped down. I can go on and on and could have taken way more photos, but don't want to waste anymore time on this. I contacted her right away and sent pictures. She said she couldn't get the photos and hours later said she would reimburse me $50 and a free cleaning. Why in the world would I want her to "clean" again. This was nothing but a headache. I spent 3 more hours cleaning and have a huge headache. Spare yourself.

However, I can't imagine peak season when there would be more boats on the lake - it's a nice distance to kayak, but as soon as others are on the lake it doesn't feel very bit. While we were out, there was a very irresponsible boater who essentially circled us at a high speed and sent our kayaks wild when the waves converged. Luckily we are experienced and didn't tip and find ourselves swimming in the lake - but that boater was truly a jerk. So, if you're looking to rent a place for a week - my recommendation is going in the off-season and keep an eye out for bad speed boaters. :)
