This was our 2nd time going to rainbow mountain. Its rustic AF. The staff are all friendly and were accommodating. The rooms were cleanish. They need to put covers on the mattresses! Besides that our cottage was fine. The pool area is odd to me. The bartenders move sooo slow. The music is SO LOUD. The DJs here feel the need to blast the music by the pool to the point where its very unpleasant. Its jarring and its hard to have a simple conversation. It doesnt make any sense. I'm really glad this place exists and it is special but don't get your hopes up for a nice fancy getaway. It's almost like a rustic summer camp vibe. Very delayed review. Stayed at Rainbow Mountain "Resort" a few years back. We had booked a room in the main building and after checking in, we decided to go to our room and drop off our bags. The lock didn't work, so we were hesitant, but decided to give it a try. The room was very barebones and dusty. What made things absolutely horrifying was the corner along the ceiling was absolutely infested with ladybugs. I know they're harmless, and just a few would have been fine. But I'm talking hundreds, if not thousands. We went into the hallway to bring it to their attention and noticed the hallway ceiling above our door was the same. When we told management, we simply got a shrug of the shoulders, with "it's ladybug season" as a response. No offer to change rooms, no other comments beyond a careless comment. They are still accepting reservations online and taking people's money but when you arrive, you'll find: A completely empty property, not a single staff member on site, no check-in desk, no welcome, just two phone numbers that go unanswered. A pool with green nasty water, the bar is closed, the restaurant looks abandoned. Fifty rooms with overpowering stench of mildew, dirty fridge, dirty bathroom with a foul smell and a broken lock on the door. Absolutely no hospitality or unsafe. They'll charge your card immediately and give you nothing in return. It's a scam preying on the community. Do not fall for the fake photos and outdated descriptions on their website. My chief complaint with this "resort" is that they emailed me (see email attached) an alleged "thank you for being faithful to us" email with a certificate of a free 1 night stay. The email is clear and succinct. It states that the offer does not expire and thats it. Today I called in to see if I could actually cash in on this offer. Seemed to good to be true. I made 2 calls and both times I spoke with Nya, Who confirmed I could use the coupon AND she put me on hold after telling me she would confirm with her manager.she came back and said yes you can have the king room for 4 people on Sunday July 16 and check out next day. I told her I would call her right back after confirming with the others and purchasing the flight to ensure I could get it since I'm coming from LA. She said great. I asked her if she could hold the king room while I got back to her she said yes. I called back in to book the room and spoke with a man who said he can not honor the coupon. I asked him why and he said it's only valid in 2022. I said the email states no expiration and again he said there's nothing he could do. Then he said actually it's only valid mon-thur. And again I told him that's not stipulated anywhere in the email. I asked to speak with Nya on several occasions and he continuously refused to let me speak to her. The hallway and room smell like urine, the sink was completely backed up with bugs in it, I found two different pairs of earrings on the carpet that had not been vacuumed, someone's hair in the pillowcase, and the mattress covered in disgusting stains. Some of the minor inconveniences are: the door barely locking, and them charging an extra tax and "resort fee" of $50 upon check in (which was already paid for in the initial invoice). This place is completely unsafe with mold and other bodily fluid smells in the air, bugs, no house keeping, and it seemed like I was the only person staying there. If you want to get an STD, tetanus, raped, or a lung infection, continue with your booking. I left immediately. There is also about 2 to 3 total people at the bar on a Saturday night. To stay at this place overnight, is the absolute worst thing you could ever do! I've been there as a day trip before to go to the pool, and that was a lot of fun. I decided to stay with my wife for the Fourth of July holiday. First, I was instructed to pick up my room keys not from the front desk, but at their ' nightclub' since I was arriving after 9 pm. We get to the room and the parking lot was completely overgrown with weeds. The room was described on their website as having a refrigerator, there was none. Went to look for ice, and could not find a single ice machine in the entire property. There was no phone in the room, and when I called the main number no one answered.! Then, when we went to put the tv on to try and relax a bit before bed, it did not work at all. Could not even get basic cable. I went looking around the property to find an employee, and could not find a single person anywhere. We walked back to the room, and tried to open the door with the physical key they provided, and it would not open the door, even after trying different ways for nearly ten minutes. Our dogs were inside crying, so I slammed the door one time and it busted right open. At this point, we were completely fed up and decided we had to get out of there as soon as possible. After this nightmare it was 3:30 in the morning and had to repack all of our belongings to go to a normal hotel. I am so beyond disappointed that this place would even have the nerve to charge what they charge per night to offer you below minimum accommodations. This was by far the worst place I have ever vacationed in my 46 years of life. This place is totally dilapidated. The pool and surrounding deck was filthy and most of the chairs were broken. I'm surprised I didn't get hepatitis from the pool water. The garbage dump area behind the suites was disgusting and there was garbage strewn all over the place (and I say the word "suites" loosely because a stay at a motor inn would have been an upgrade). The light in the bathroom didn't work so we used a lamp from the desk in the bathroom. The removable shower hose was placed about 8ft high so you couldn't even reach it. There were approx 3 people running the whole place. Moon and Francisco were amazing. Moon did everything from checking me in to taking food orders, cooking the food, bringing the food out to the pool, cleaning the rooms and was the bartender at the nightclub. We are talking about a 10am-2am shift that she did. I'm sure the resort pays her a pittance which is abhorrent. The bar was never fully stocked. You couldn't even get the type of alcohol you wanted. The "continental breakfast" was abysmal and a complete joke. Dry bagels and pastries with a lump of cream cheese and some bananas. There were never any plates so you had to resort to using napkins if there were even any out. The coffee was good surprisingly. Holes in the walls, doors broken , wrong sized sheets on the scariest mattress I've ever seen in my life, NO FIRE DETECTOR meanwhile I counted 7 extension cords in use scattered in every direction in the room. The sink was backed up, bathroom light was so dim you can barely see, plumbing issues apparently as the smell of backed up cesspool permeated the property. Do not under any circumstances spend a night in this place, it is literally dangerous and should not be allowed to operate. Have already filed a complaint with Monroe County Code Enforcement re: fire safety concerns. read more

Can I start with the cliche "0 star option, please". What was supposed to be a relaxing weekend after a strenuous week turned out to be the opposite. I need a getaway after my getaway at Rainbow Mountain Resort. Customer service? None. I asked about wifi, the person who finally answered the phone at the desk said there was no wifi for a couple of days. That was a lie, it turns out there was no wifi at all for over 2 weeks. Instead of getting the truth, I just saw the reviews over the last couple of weeks and came to the conclusion that way. Cleanliness? No. The room was filthy. There were so many spider webs. That leads to spiders and a LOT of them. Bugs, I understand, but when there are layers of webs behind the headboard and spiders are crawling all over the bed, that isn't acceptable. No fitted sheets. Instead of investing in a proper fitted sheet, they used a flat sheet and tucked the corners. That lead to you having no choice but waking up on top of a filthy mattress with no layer between you and the filth. There was a desk lamp on top of a chair, in lieu of the pretty nightstand and light featured in the advertised photos. The best part? Heat. No heat. None. You call and nobody answers. I wrote the resort on Airbnb, no answer. So my wife and I sat in the car in the middle of the night to warm up. On top of the fitted sheet was a thing blanket. We actually had to fall asleep in the car because it was freezing. Horrible experience. We walked passed employees and all we received were odd looks. No good morning when we walked by to hand them the keys and we waited while they finished smoking, although all we wanted was to get out. DO NOT STAY!! THEIR WHOLE WEBSITE IS FALSE MARKETING !! I was excited to stay here for an overnight hiking trip, but when we arrived we quickly realized this place had fully scammed us. We immediately did not feel safe when there was no deadbolt lock on the main door. The room was not clean at all, nor did smell clean. There was dust, dirt and hair on the floors. The bedding did not have a fitted sheet to cover the mattress and also was not clean. The lamp was broken. Live spiders were in the room. Multiple holes, tears and stains on the walls. The staged photos depicted had art on the walls, bed side lamps, large carpet, etc that was not in the room. The hot tub we were looking forward to using was not in service. To say the least the place was non inviting and felt uncomfortable and unsafe. This place felt more like a whore house that is being rented out by the hour... I have attached photos for proof of what I saw which we then immediately left and was forced to find another hotel for the night. I would like to share my experience here. I read the many bad reviews on this campsite and still chose to book a weekend for my birthday with my wife and friends. I booked a cabin that sleeps 6 online. Before arriving, I received an email letting me know that my cabin would be shared with 6 other random people that I have never met. Would not be an issue if it had been disclosed before booking and if it was a lower price. When I called to ask about this, the front desk informed me that these people would have unlimited access to my room through a shared door/key and that since they were splitting the cabin, that there would only be 2 beds available for my party of 6. I asked the front desk worker why they would advertise a private cabin that sleeps 6, allow me to book months in advance, then overbook it with another party. When I said there would not be enough beds for everyone, she suggested that I sleep on the floor. I got all of this in a written email and filed a charge back due to the fact that they double booked my cabin and could not provide what I paid for, which the campground had the balls to contest. Would never recommend this place. I actually find them to be despicable. Instead, the KOA Delaware water gap is an amazing campground and has made me a lifetime camper. read more

We had reservations for September 13th and 14th which we booked through hotels.com. When our travel plans got delayed, they were very understanding of the fact that we would only be staying the 14th and allowed hotels.com to fully refund the night of the 13th with no surcharge. I appreciated that and was impressed by the customer service I get from the individual at the front desk named Maggie. When we checked in on Saturday, we met Maggie in person and she was very kind and hospitable. I was impressed that there are like 3 bars, a restaurant, a pool and a 10 person 24 hour jacuzzi. I was excited to stay. When we got upstairs we realized that this is a dorm style facility in which bathrooms are shared. Bathroom floors were wet and not well cared for by the guests (soap not rinsed out of the shower, floors soaked, toilet and sink dirty). We were pretty let down but figured we would deal with it since it's only one night. We walked into our room and the first thing my eyes zoned in on was a gigantic DEAD COCKROACH on our windowsill. We went downstairs and let Maggie know who offered to switch our room which we declined. We were advised to contact hotels.com for a refund which again the staff approved and we drove the 5 hours back home, ending our weekend getaway then and there. If a roach is in one room, they're in every room. If a roach is in your rooms, roaches are in your kitchen. Shocked, disgusted and disappointed, though very pleased with Maggie's hospitality and customer service. She is the reason I would be ok with 1 star. read more

The lodging is bad - outdated, unsecured, dirty, and has none of the usual amenities associated with a hotel/motel. There isn't even a phone to ring up the front desk. The front desk closes after the last guest arrives. Also, they charge you a $13 resort fee regardless of whether you've already pre-paid your booking. It's just not a place to dine or sleep as of now. Over the years I've had some good times in the nightclub. The outdoor pool is beautiful, and it has a bar too. First off, i booked a queen bed online and was given a full. Checked in late so it was too late to complain. Room is just as many described. Smelly. Dirty looking carpet. Dingy. Hairs in the bedding. "Updated" with random framed things on the walls. Bathroom smelled like a locker room. Never have i ever experienced a sink that only the hot water worked. And the toilet! OH SKY GOD! It takes a whole minute to almost (like 87% ) complete a full flush, and then 10 minutes to fill back up. The lock to the bathroom was a hook hinge that went into a hole drilled into the back of the door. The only positive for the room is that that poor, little, ancient air conditioner did a great job. Food : Continental breakfast is some bread and an old looking coffee dispenser. Didn't want to further temp fate with that. Did not get to eat at the restaurant because as we went to be seated, the host asked us to wait a second, and after 6 minutes, never came back. So we drove somewhere else to eat. Nightclub : Hours listed says 8-2 but it was more like 915 when it opened. They got all the liquors, but mixers are limited and they don't have limes or other garnish. Price shock! 2 shots and 2 drinks were about $50. And it was not a cute resort cocktail, it's a plastic cup from a dive bar! I will say the dj was really friendly and played great music though. He also took requests. Pool : the real reason why I came! I was so excited! But... it was so gross. SO GROSSSSS! Dead flies, spiders, bees, hair, mystery bugs and oil slicks floating everywhere you go. I was a second away from using the pool scoop to clean the pool myself, but then remembered, I was on a mini holiday and to just ignore the filth I was swimming in. There is also a bar at the pool... that didn't have ORANGE JUICE OR CHAMPAGNE! a gay resort with no mimosas! BLASPHEMY. Luckily I'm smart and brought my own mimosas from my room and the bar gave me ice for free. Dj played here as well, but at a volume for a football field. I had to keep my ears pointed away from the dj booth speakers cause it was way too loud. There are many chairs around the pool, but note that some have a cloth covering, I think to try and trick me. But I saw the state of the chairs underneath. PLEASE STAY HIDDEN! and two, I didn't see them change them out. So all the pool people sweat from the day before is ready for your pleasure today. Overall, I will not be coming back again. For those of you just looking at the photos on the website, be warned that at one point, it looked like that. But imagine 40 years had passed since that photo you are drooling over was taken, and sprinkle in some very very VERY light cleaning, and that's what you get. One of the rooms on the gallery on the website was my room, but uh, maybe it's evil twin? Did an apocalypse happen? Is that the smell of my money ? If you're looking for a little queer friendly getaway, be cautioned. Looks can be very deceiving on a website. But if you're like F it and want to have a much less than glamorous weekend adventure full of "is this really happening moments", book your room! And if after all this, you still have that tinge of adventure, I suggest you do not book directly from their website as many others have way better rates. After 30 years coming here, I am throwing in the towel. The service is so bad, I can't take it. Employees are massively confused, all the time. Took over an hour to get lunch. Told halfway through the wait that they were missing ingredients. Went to the bar at night and waited 20 minutes at the bar for a drink and had to leave. The bartenders (2) were completely inept. It was not crowded, problem was they had the attention span of a housefly. Management no better, they were there the whole time and completely oblivious. I saw several people leave without being served. The place itself has always been a little tatty but cleanliness has taken a dive as well. The fun was in enjoying the pool, the food, and the bar. Well, what can I say about this place. Went to the club and there was only three people on Friday. I said maybe it's just one of those nights once back on Saturday it was the same three people. So I decided to ask the bartender what's going on he says it's slow season. This place is more dead than a cemetery. I don't know what is going to take to bring it back to what it used to be in the 2000s. I wouldn't recommend it. The rooms are outdated and old electricity doesn't work there's not enough water pressure there's never hot water and every time the place is booked something always appears or breaks down. Don't even get me with the kitchen that food was reheated from the freezer from last year. The bartender is also your host your waiter the cook he does everything and mind you he doesn't even speak proper English. And don't even get me started with his pronunciations online. Coming from Brooklyn, we can certify Robyn's pork chop was as good as any fine dining establishment in NYC. The pesto pasta was also great, with generous freshly shaved Parmesan. Nightmare Vacation I have been coming to this resort for decades. I took my husband here in august 2022 to a declined, broken down shadow of its former self. I raved about this place aNd was so excited to share this with him, but rude staff, false advertising on their website, no running water, no bathroom and pool was green is what we encountered. we had the large cabin that looked like it wasn't clean from the prior guest. bedding was not the right size for the bed. cabin was smelly with old magazines that should have been thrown out. we went to check in and the staff were on their phones looking at men on Instagram. I excused myself as I interupted to be told they would be right with me. I gave them a few minutes and interrupted again, the employee looked at me as if I was intruding on them. I ask for the gym and was told they have one. i acknowledge the gym but asked how it's hours. he said, it's open. i asked all day? "no, when we decided to arrive, we open it." Really?! I was offered a drink to stay? Again, Really?!! How about running water, open kitchen for food? You have to leave the resort to eat or stay hydrated. Cabins are not what is advertise ( maybe 30 years ago) we did find out that a business group has purchased the establishment and they are letting the place run down. What a horrific experience. This kind of bad experience you can get for half the price somewhere else. this is a LGBTQAI+ establishment in name only. Why support a group that it's obvious does not support the community they claim to serve. where did the great Rainbow Mountain go to? Save yourself the aggravation and time and stay somewhere else! The best way I can describe this "resort" is an overprice back road motel. The staff was ok, not rude, but not friendly. The king room we stayed in had seen better days. We made the best of the weekend, but definitely not worth anywhere near the price we paid. The pictures looked amazing, but pictures were definitely photoshopped. read more

The vibe is so energetic and open . Everyone is so nice its like a family. They had a bbq and the food was really good. The drinks were priced pretty good . Having a great memorial weekend !!! read more

This is the 4th time I've come in these past few years and each time the place gets better and better. It's not far from nyc and it's a great place to Come and relax with your friends. The cabins are cute and rooms are cool too. There's an amazing pool with views of the poconos, jacuzzi which you can use all night, a nightclub and a karaoke bar! They also have 3 course dinners and breakfast package that you can't beat the price. The scenery is beautiful and the people are really nice. A total getaway from nyc without having to go too far. If you are deciding which gay camp ground you wish to go and are undecided, take my word and go to the rainbow mountain. read more

I have previously stayed here about a year ago and it was a great experience. But it seems like they changed management and staff recently. I booked a 2-night stay for my honeymoon and was really looking forward to it. However, I never got confirmation of my reservation but was charged. Thought that was very weird. Tried calling, it took days to finally get a hold of someone. Left voicemails and emails. Nothing. When I finally did get to speak to someone they said their "system was down" and they were not able to send confirmations and that there were actively working on sending it out. More days went by, about a week after making a reservation, and still nothing. Finally, I got fed up and requested a full refund via email. Of course, as soon as I sent the email requesting for my money back I get a call right away. It has been over two weeks and I still have not gotten a refund even though they said they would send it over right away. I had to file a claim with my bank. Super sketchy and scammy place! I would seriously avoid them at all costs. There is a reason there are so many bad reviews. This place has great potential. But it is not what is used to be. STAY AWAY!! read more
