The hallways are not heated and when no one is in the hallway, the lights go out until one steps outside their room, exits the elevator, or comes up the stairs. There is no light switch for the bathroom, which relies on ones entry, and the shower is fantastic! There is no "constant fan" option on the temperature controls and trying to maintain a particular temperature that was not too hot or too cool seemed difficult at first but worked out in the end. For a truly clean and comfortable property in the heart of Stroudsburg, I recommend The Penn Stroud!

It was my first time staying at a hotel vs staying with family, and I'd definitely consider this option again. The hotel is located right downtown, within walking distance of main streets. Staff was very pleasant at check in. My room was quite spacious and very clean. There was a couch and desk, big bathroom. They have a fitness room, but the equipment is old and some of it wasn't functioning well. They put out a good breakfast spread with actual hot food and plenty of choices. The only real off thing about my whole stay was that the morning I stayed they had omelettes that contained tiny pieces of sausage and it wasn't labeled as containing meat - which as a vegetarian I wasn't thrilled about. When I brought this up to a staff member they were a little dismissive. Beyond that one interaction though, everything here was quite nice and I'd be happy to stay here again. The hotel pool is heated so it was nice to enjoy and get away from the cold. There is a beautiful view of the outside from the pool with an outdoor area for enjoyment during warmer temperatures. The gym was better than I had expected for a hotel gym. There are amble free weights, treadmills, bikes and ellipticals. I was also surprised that there was a peloton. The only thing that I didn't like was the tv signal kept turning off, but I had brought my laptop so I enjoyed watching a movie on there instead. The breakfast was what your would normally expect from a Hampton inn. There were eggs, potatoes, cereal and a waffle station. I would definitely stay here when in the Poconos again!

After I told her our room number, she said, "Oh, that room should've never been rented. It hasn't been rented in a long time, so it needed to be cleaned." Clearly, it was not cleaned at all before we were checked into it. For a hotel brand that usually maintains high standards, this was unacceptable. I hope management takes immediate steps to refund my money and ensure rooms are properly inspected and cleaned before being assigned to guests. I would give 0 stars if app allowed it.

The way the soap dispensers are built in on the OPPOSITE side of the sink is incredibly awkward - having the permanently installed soap dispenser NOT next to the sink is a bizarre design flaw. While we are on the sink situation, the cold water tap knob spun around without turning on the actual tap - brushing teeth with hot water is not exactly a treat. At the price of $250+ for a standard suite in Stroudsburg PA I really expected a higher level of quality--- the staff we encountered were very polite and helpful which was the best part of the experience.
