Down off the Appalachian Trail after a long day backpacking near sunset on a cold February night and the proprietor, Nino, said he would come pick me up at the Mountain House down the road where I was having a beer. Nicest person, and his wife also. Saved me a 1.8 mile walk on a busy highway in the dark. My room was clean and tidy. This is a classic 1950's motel, well maintained and provided me just what I needed: a comfortable bed and hot shower, not to mention a welcoming and friendly reception and free coffee in the morning. With customer service at an all time low in America, this experience restored my faith in well-run, personally attentive and professional business establishments.
