This by far the best Bed & Breakfast that I've been to over the last few years. Stone Oak is a peaceful tree farm and cozy barn that shines the spirit of Christmas. Each room is decorated so nicely. Natalie and Rich were friendly, welcoming and offered us activities nearby (breweries, wineries, cideries, hiking locations), although we spent our evenings by the fireplace sipping on hot chocolate. The breakfast was delicious and just the overall experience has been so positive and perfect. If you're looking for a scenic, relaxing, cozy B&B to stay, look no further. You will not be disappointed. My boyfriend and I were looking for a peaceful and relaxing weekend and we got just that! We can't wait to come back again for another weekend getaway and plan another one with our friends!

The design is a classic antique American colonial, with materials and decor really complimentary to the local area. Our room was very clean and felt fresh, even with the nice antiqued look. We had control of the AC unit and a nice private bathroom. They also had an incredible shared great room with a fireplace and kitchen/dining area, where breakfast was "serve yourself" the next morning. Natalie put together a really great spread, and we got to enjoy coffee and conversation at the dining table before we left. The whole experience was hospitable, unique, and so peaceful. Being under 2 hours from NYC, we will certainly be back when we need a getaway in the future. Absolutely no complaints.

I usually do not stay in B&B's and normally will stay in hotels with a rating of 4 or 5 stars. With that said , please allow me to say that I was completely and thoroughly pleased with Alpine Haus ! Anil (the owner) was my host for an overnight stay and I can not say enough about the facilities , the cleanliness, the peace and quiet I experienced, The parking could not be more convenient, the beautiful , serene views over the mountains while relaxing on the gorgeous deck are amazing. Anil made me feel like , if not better than family! He truly made his home my home! And ... the breakfast , oh my , I can not say enough about the breakfast that Anil prepared for me at the time of my choosing. Plenty of food , quality was superior , all fresh and delicious. In fact, I was so pleased with Alpine Haus that I made a reservation for another trip coming up soon. I look forward to another wonderful stay at Alpine Haus and seeing Anil again. It is such a wonderful feeling to know that I have a home away from home when I am in New Jersey. If you are visiting and staying in anywhere near Vernon, New Jersey, I HIGHLY recommend staying at Alpine Haus . I assure you will not be disappointed ! Sincerely, Ken R.

The owners are very nice, the grounds are peaceful, and the breakfasts are amazing. They actually have more than one breakfast option for you to choose. There is a nice winery and some pretty good restaurants within driving distance. The only down comment I'd like to make is that if you are a big person or are claustrophobic, do NOT book the Fox and Hound room. The bathroom is small, and the shower is very small, so you'd have to book a different room. But don't let that deter you from booking here. You'll like this place.

They were welcoming and we were greeted even though we didn't check in until 9:30ish. We opted to have our breakfast delivered to the room since we like to lounge around in the mornings. This was our FAVORITE part of the whole weekend! The first morning, we had scrambled eggs, sausage, and fresh fruit with blueberry pancakes. The second morning, we had stuffed french toast with bacon and fruit. Can I just say that I still crave both dishes, even after a month? They were the tastiest pancakes and stuffed french toast ever! Plus, we had a cute little view of the pond from our room. Long story short, I would highly recommend taking a weekend trip here. We booked the Appalachian Room and it had a fairly large jacuzzi as well, so that was a plus.

I stayed here because I wanted to be away from the masses and crowds, and the Waterstone Inn fit the bill perfectly. The inn is literally across from the lake, so makes for a perfect summer or weekend getaway. The inn provides kayaks and canoes free of charge to go out on the lake. I communicated with Maureen before my stay and she was very quick to answer any questions. She was an absolute delight to converse with throughout my stay. She mentioned they weren't sure if they'd reopen after 2020, but they invested more money into the property and made some renovations to make the place more comfortable for guests, despite being an older property. All rooms/suites have a private bathroom and locks for privacy. I stayed in the spacious Bradford Suite on the 3rd floor, but all the rooms they offered seemed equally delightful to stay in when I took a peek. The place is so small and cozy that I didn't encounter any other guests except during breakfast hours (I think only one other room was occupied mid-week). Breakfast is included and is delicious...the food is freshly made to order. There are plenty of places to sit for breakfast whether it be a couch in the lounge, the window-side tables with lake views, or the front porch. The nautical and lake themes throughout the property were very well thought out and tasteful to give you a "getting away" type of feel. The porch area is welcoming and the perfect place where you can enjoy spectacular views of the action on the lake. The property has a parking lot on property directly adjacent to the inn which always felt safe and secure. The town of Greenwood Lake on the NJ/NY border is very cute, and was the filming location of a lesser known recent movie starring Morgan Freeman called the Magic of Belle Isle. All staff I encountered were amazingly welcoming, so I wouldn't hesitate to run as small businesses like these deserve to be supported.

The location is close to many restaurants, shops, and the beach. We had fun kayaking out on the lake. Kayaks and canoes are available on the premises at no additional cost. Before going into detail about the location and accommodations, I have to rave about how charming Alice, the host, is. She happily greeted us with the warmest smile, and throughout our stay, we could easily feel how sweet and genuine this woman is. She always made sure we had everything we needed, and offered ideas of things we could do around the area. Upon our arrival, she asked if we had any food preferences for breakfast. The living area was everything you'd imagine from a lakefront B&B. A spiral staircase led us up to the cozy, second floor private suite. It was filled with sunlight, and offered a beautiful view of Greenwood Lake. The queen sized bed, adjoining bathroom and shower, small living room, and modern kitchen were perfect for our little getaway from NYC. The following morning, Alice invited us into her home for breakfast. She was so hospitable and offered us cereal, fresh fruit, juice, and coffee while we waited for eggs and toast. Most people would feel uncomfortable sitting in someone's dining room while the host prepares breakfast, but Alice really made us feel at home. My boyfriend and I were grinning ear to ear throughout our entire breakfast, as we soaked in all the good energy and enjoyed our conversations with Alice. After breakfast, we took the canoe out on the lake and enjoyed a relaxing morning out on the water. The views from the middle of the lake were breathtaking, and it was easily one of my most favorite parts of our weekend getaway. We are both so happy that we were able to experience our first B&B with Alice, as she was more than just a host to us. During our short stay with her, we were able to learn more about her, and share pieces of our lives with her. We made so many wonderful memories at Alice's, but the experience wouldn't have been the same without her. Not only is she a gracious host, but also a kindhearted, admirable woman. We plan on keeping in touch, and we already can't wait for our next visit! You can search for her page on AirBnB.
