Mid-week January in Warwick for personal business. Bill greeted us in the parking lot, carried our bags. The suites are cozy, comfy and with antiques aplenty. Great bed, great internet and breakfast by Joe in the morning was world class. The Inn has the same great mystique as the town of Warwick, elegant and sophisticated with its horse country vibes.

    Setting in the back.... Beautiful!!!!!

What a great experience!!!!! My boyfriend and I decided to venture up to the Bear Mountain area- for a hike and decided very last minute to stay in the Warwick area at a B&B and do a little wine tasting. As soon as we arrived to the Inn- it was the perfect start to a romantic, magical evening. The Inn sits on (I believe) a few acres of beautiful country land. Everything just seemed so picturesque and peaceful! Bill greeted us as we pulled up- and showed us around the house. Everything is kept immaculate- and it was exactly what we looked for in our first B&B experience- it felt like home but with all the amenities of staying at hotel. We stayed in the Lexington Room- which was great- as it had a separate entrance, an amazing jacuzzi and beautiful view of a pond, with ducks and chickens. The bed was reallly really comfortable (I had such a great night of sleep!) great sheets and the room also has a flat screen TV, cable, two wine glasses and a cork screw (plus some goodies!) O, and there is also free WIFI... Also, everything was really clean and nice!! Great bathroom as well. Bill was really informative and give us printed directions to the Warwick Winery- and also there was a book of restaurants in the area (which was great- since we ended up picking this AMAZING place, Coquito for dinner). When we arrived back at the Inn after dinner- we met Joe- and they showed us their awesome movie collection- and we were able to choose a few movies to watch in our room (we pick Wayne's World...what a classic!). The next morning we woke up to the smell of amazing bacon cooking upstairs. We went into the dining room- had great coffee- and Bill and Joe served up this out of this world zucchini quiche and blueberry pancakes!!!! The food was AMAZINGGGGGG- and the bacon..YUM. You can tell that EVERYTHING was extremely fresh and well prepared. I am still dreaming about that breakfast. I had to take mini breaks in between- because I wanted to make sure I could finish every single bite!!! All and all we had a fantastic time- and we were really sad we could only stay one night! Bill and Joe are some of the sweetest, most accommodating people I have ever met- fantastic!!!!! They are REALLY helpful- and just want to make sure you have a great time while you stay with them and we sure did!!! HIGHLY recommend! And we will be back for a full weekend next time!!!

Enjoying some wine and watching the snowfall

This by far the best Bed & Breakfast that I've been to over the last few years. Stone Oak is a peaceful tree farm and cozy barn that shines the spirit of Christmas. Each room is decorated so nicely. Natalie and Rich were friendly, welcoming and offered us activities nearby (breweries, wineries, cideries, hiking locations), although we spent our evenings by the fireplace sipping on hot chocolate. The breakfast was delicious and just the overall experience has been so positive and perfect. If you're looking for a scenic, relaxing, cozy B&B to stay, look no further. You will not be disappointed. My boyfriend and I were looking for a peaceful and relaxing weekend and we got just that! We can't wait to come back again for another weekend getaway and plan another one with our friends!

The design is a classic antique American colonial, with materials and decor really complimentary to the local area. Our room was very clean and felt fresh, even with the nice antiqued look. We had control of the AC unit and a nice private bathroom. They also had an incredible shared great room with a fireplace and kitchen/dining area, where breakfast was "serve yourself" the next morning. Natalie put together a really great spread, and we got to enjoy coffee and conversation at the dining table before we left. The whole experience was hospitable, unique, and so peaceful. Being under 2 hours from NYC, we will certainly be back when we need a getaway in the future. Absolutely no complaints.

Located on the bucolic outskirts of Warwick, NY, which is only 1.5 hours from NYC, Dorothy, the proprietor will welcome you and your pet dog into her cozy farmhouse. Unlike some B&B's that have priceless Ming vases and precious breakables, Meadowlark is more farm like--Dorothy loves dogs, has two of her own (both friendly), and isn't concerned about your dog roaming the house, or the enclosed outside property and garden. She also has a gorgeous and friendly horse that trots around an enclosed area on the other side where the dogs can roam. The breakfast is above average B&B fare - peach pancake pie one morning and a potato/zucchini/cheese bake the next day. The rooms are comfortable and nicely appointed. We stayed in the King Room, which has its own bathroom. The other two rooms share a bathroom. Warwick is only about a half hour drive over to the Port Jervis area where you and your pup can raft the Delaware River (see my Indian Head Canoe review for more info on that). Other fun stuff in Warwick -- there's an old fashioned drive-in movie theater and you can bring your pup to watch the movie with you in your car, and a lot of people brought their dogs to frolic on the ample grass fields. Warwick Valley Winery is dog friendly and makes good hard cider. And the town of Warwick itself is fun for a few hours. The surrounding area is gorgeous and pastoral. Right outside of Meadowlark Farm is a beautiful lightly trafficked road that makes a great country walk with your dog before starting the day's activities. There's also a dog park very close by. Makes a terrific weekend with just a small amount of driving and a lot of quiet country enjoyment. ,

I stayed here because I wanted to be away from the masses and crowds, and the Waterstone Inn fit the bill perfectly. The inn is literally across from the lake, so makes for a perfect summer or weekend getaway. The inn provides kayaks and canoes free of charge to go out on the lake. I communicated with Maureen before my stay and she was very quick to answer any questions. She was an absolute delight to converse with throughout my stay. She mentioned they weren't sure if they'd reopen after 2020, but they invested more money into the property and made some renovations to make the place more comfortable for guests, despite being an older property. All rooms/suites have a private bathroom and locks for privacy. I stayed in the spacious Bradford Suite on the 3rd floor, but all the rooms they offered seemed equally delightful to stay in when I took a peek. The place is so small and cozy that I didn't encounter any other guests except during breakfast hours (I think only one other room was occupied mid-week). Breakfast is included and is delicious...the food is freshly made to order. There are plenty of places to sit for breakfast whether it be a couch in the lounge, the window-side tables with lake views, or the front porch. The nautical and lake themes throughout the property were very well thought out and tasteful to give you a "getting away" type of feel. The porch area is welcoming and the perfect place where you can enjoy spectacular views of the action on the lake. The property has a parking lot on property directly adjacent to the inn which always felt safe and secure. The town of Greenwood Lake on the NJ/NY border is very cute, and was the filming location of a lesser known recent movie starring Morgan Freeman called the Magic of Belle Isle. All staff I encountered were amazingly welcoming, so I wouldn't hesitate to run as small businesses like these deserve to be supported.

With a little luck, I managed to book a room for two nights during Labor Day weekend with only about a week's notice at the Botsford Briar. I found it on the internet, having never before been to Beacon, a little escape I had planned because of hiking, kayaking, the Dia: Beacon, the boat to tour Bannerman Castle, and Main Street were all within walking distance. I arrived quite early on Saturday via train and headed up to Main Street. I had a kayaking tour reservation and had planned to do that before checking in at Bostford Briar. However, when there was some miscommunication and the tour left without me, the folks at Mountain Top outdoor store called the proprietors of the Botsford Briar (yeah, it's that small of a town) to see if I could check in early. And all was well; they were happy to take me early. My room was ready and I headed over...and up the rather steep hill of High Street. Charlie met me halfway up the hill and insisted on taking my bag the rest of the way. The house is charming and looks just as it does on the website photo. Inside, it's filled with curiosities on the first floor. I met Shirley there too. Throughout my stay, she and Charlie were wonderful. They took the time to try to find an alternate kayaking solution for me, suggested restaurants, went to the trouble of having my breakfast ready quite early on my last morning there since I had to leave before the normal time, etc. I stayed in the Wisteria Room, which was lovely. The bed was comfy. There were a couple of chairs as well as a table with two dining chairs with bottles of water on a tray. In case it was needed, there was an AC unit. Lots of sunlight could come in through the generous windows (though you could pull curtains and shades too). Wifi was free. The TV wasn't a flat screen, but I didn't watch it so, who really cares? The room had wonderful charm and was clearly lovingly decorated. The bathroom was a private one down the hall. However, they've thoughtfully added a curtain one can pull to really make that whole wing private (so you don't feel odd walking to the bathroom in your pajamas; nobody can see you). I loved the claw foot tub and had a nice soak each night. It was a large bathroom with nice towels and was meticulously clean. I spent a good portion of both evenings watching the sunset on the beautiful shared deck out back. It's at the top of High Street and you can see down and across the Hudson River. It's beautiful and a wonderful quiet spot (or a place to chat with other guests, as I did the second evening). Also shared for the guests is a small room with a fridge, cupboard (thoughtfully stocked with glasses, wine glasses, corkscrews, etc.), and a single serving coffee maker for anything you wanted to make or store yourself. Breakfast was quite generous. There was one freshly baked (and still warm!) item each day along with other breads, a fantastic fruit plate, juice, and coffee. The only thing I would have added would have been a hard boiled egg or something so that I could get in a little protein. But with what was provided, I really wasn't lacking at all in nourishment. It's brought to your room at your chosen time on a tray. The location is great. It's easy walking distance to the train station, Dia: Beacon, boat launch, and Main Street. It's within walking distance of a trail head for hiking as well though you should know that it's a long hike in itself up Main Street to reach it. I'm so glad I came to Botsford Briar to get away. It's so clear how much love (and personal talent/handiwork) Charlie and Shirley have put into the place. And they really take pride in making it a wonderful retreat. I wouldn't be surprised if I found myself back there again when weary of the city.

The decor of the room and the b&b are not my particular taste, cluttered, heavy fabrics, heavy wooded furniture. Taste is subjective though and I could imagine another person may enjoy. The air conditioner is positioned in such a way that it blows directly on the bed. I found sitting out on the deck to be noisier than we hoped for...can hear the train whistle and cars on a road in the distance. The morning breakfast spread had coffee, juice, pastries and fruit, none of which were of the best quality. I only met Charlie who was friendly and very helpful. I spoke to a woman who I believe is the owner by phone while booking and when we were likely to arrive after their 9pm time limit and our phone personalities did not mesh well.

From the second we arrived, the staff took care of us, guided us from place to place, and made the entire weekend feel effortless. The Rehearsal Dinner started with a cocktail hour on a terrace overlooking the countryside, and honestly, it felt like we had been transported to Italy. The views, the manicured grounds, the rolling lawns, the formal gardens, the lake... all of it created this stunning European villa vibe. The Tuscan-style architecture just added to that charm. On the Wedding Day, the ceremony was held outside on a tiered courtyard that managed to feel both grand and intimate. After that, we moved to another outdoor terrace for cocktail hour, and the change of scenery made the whole experience feel fresh and magical. Then we were guided under a covered walkway over to "The Barn in the Meadow" for the reception. It is a gorgeous space, with vaulted ceilings, whitewashed interiors, Italian-style chandeliers, and a covered patio looking out toward the hills and the lake. It felt elegant, spacious, and perfect for a large celebration. The Reception itself was unforgettable. The food and drinks were phenomenal and there was nothing anyone could want. The couple was glowing, the setting felt dreamlike, and the fireworks at the end of the night were the perfect touch. All in all, Glenmere Mansion is not just a venue. It is a full experience. Between the mansion, the gardens, the views, the beautifully designed event spaces, and the top-notch staff, it truly transforms a wedding into a once-in-a-lifetime celebration. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a luxury wedding or special event location.
