Amazing service from start to finish! After multiple frustrating visits to another shop that couldn't fix the issue (and still charged me for it), I brought my bike here, and I'm so glad I did. Lance had it fully repaired within a day, plus he added new tires and a tune up to my other bike I brought in. I honestly won't go anywhere else for bike repairs or gear from now on. im not from Yakima and was there for the week for work. I bought a used bike and was working on it in my hotel room with only a few tools. I walked a mile to the bearded monkey hoping to have a crank set swapped out. Hollowtech...15 min job. No, we don't have time today, come back tomorrow was the reply. well ok, I guess I'll replace the worn brake cable housing then. He cuts the pieces to length and when I walk the mile back to my hotel room i notice he didn't bother to ream the ends that were mashed closed. second and last time I'll go there! read more

These guys are old school LBS. They know bikes and seem to be able to fix just about anything across the entire bicycle spectrum. Friendly and genuinely interested in getting you back on your bike asap with minimal BS. Pricing is honest and fair. Trust me, it's in every cyclists best interest to support their LBS as much as possible. read more

Not sure where the hate for this place is coming from, but based on my experience, they get a couple big thumbs up! As a specialty bike shop, you're definitely going to pay more than if you're picking up an old Huffy at Bed Bath and Beyond (Who I just learned actually sell those bikes now) But in the world of bikes, you absolutely get what you pay for. Upon entering, the bikes take up about 2/3 of the store and they're literally floor to ceiling. They sell everything from high end road and mountain bikes, to balance bikes for kiddos. Trek seems to be the predominance of what they sell, with a few other options interspersed. They have plenty of bike gear including helmets, shoes, jerseys and lots of it alludes to the bearded monkey! The guys working here are very helpful and knowledgeable about all things bike related. I went by Bearded Monkey Cycling yesterday to look at purchasing a hitch bike rack. I pulled in to the parking lot and there were a few cars I proceeded to walk towards the entrance and was rudely encountered by a employee which I found out was the actual owner. He states in a loud rude voice that you can't go in the store and you'll have to wait your turn outside the store. There were no signs in plain view notifying you of this, and the way he spoke was very unprofessional and rude!! Not the way you speak to potential customers! I've heard similar negative feedback from other people but witnessed it first hand. Better learn how to speak to people you're not the only bike shop in town... read more

I'm from another state. I was out riding a couple weeks ago and decided to ride some off-road trails. Had no idea of the thorny pickers around here and quickly had two flat tires. Took my bike to the Bearded Monkey. They put some new heavy duty tubes in along with a sealant that solved the immediate problem and gave an extra degree of protection for the next mishap. Rude customer service. While looking for a bike for my wife I got greeted by a person which I think it was the owner he said "you can't come in here you need to go outside!" I've bought several bikes from them and they've taken excellent care of me. I recently damaged my rear derailer on my Roubaix. Took the kid here so he can buy some grips for his bike. They made his bike pop. But that isn't why he bought them. The original grips were wearing down and coming loose. Anyway about after a week goes by and his bike was stolen. Just bad timing. Anyway if you are in a bad mood or your sig other pisses you off. It was a very pleasant buying experience with the knowledgeable and friendly staff. My Mr. Know-it-all 14 year old walked in with a dozen questions and the sales man patiently listened and answered all his questions. He made sure to point out all the key features on the Marlin 5. He went as far as cutting down the seat for my son, even before we even said we were going to buy it. After sizing the seat he allowed Estevan to take the bike outside and ride it. He never pressured us to hurry and allowed us to shop at our pace. After the purchase they pointed us in the right direction to register our bike. I walked in looking for a mountain bike. I asked for a brand by name, I was rudely told they didn't carry that brand and to try Walmart. Wow! I'm am an out of towner looking for a kids bicycle. I randomly selected this shop since I've seen it while driving by. The person that assisted me was VERY helpful, friendly, and didn't seem consumed with making a sell. He shared useful info about the bike, and I made the purchase. Then I waited about 15 minutes while the bike tech worked this little bike over! I felt like the bike got the attention that an expensive bike would get. I watched him check every bolt, adjust, and even give it a thorough cleaning. I can't think of anything that would prevent the 5 stars. read more

I have just entered the sport of mountain biking Sept of 2017 and I have to say that the guys at the shop are great and very skilled when it comes to bikes. I spent a lot of money on a bike more than 6k and trusted them fully in the selection process. Another thing I like about the shop is they invest in our community putting on events and creating rides for all to enjoy big box stores do not do this and sell cheap bikes so this is a great shop to get awesome quality bikes and meet people in the sport. They also help improve the trail systems we have avail to us to ride here which is how this sport grows so I will continue to support my local bike shop that supports me! I have been to other shops here in town and did not get information I needed or a demo to check out so I felt better spending my time and money at Bearded Monkey where both were provided thank you Monkey's for helping me get into this sport! read more

I don't know about the other guys who reviewed Valley, but this place is great. They go the extra mile. I've often taken my bike in to get a flat tire fixed and they clean the frame and wheels at no extra charge and without me asking. It's like the old gas stations when they used to fill your tank for you, check our oil, and wash your windshield when all you went in for was a tank of gas. Recommended! read more

I only gave them 5 stars because I can't give them 6. I walked in with an old school wheel that had a broken spoke. They immediately repaired it (in less than 10 minutes). While I was browsing the shop, I watched the crew working. If I had bike skilz, this would be a dream job. They were working hard while having the time of their life. I work in customer service, and only dream of the customer service that they provided. They were fast, friendly, and made me want to take them out for a beer. The guy that helped me repaired the wheel, asked questions about the restoration I was doing, and made helpful suggestions. The price for the repair was 1/5 of what I was expecting. If you live within driving distance of them, they are the go to for bike repair. I saw the 1 star review. The manager has long hair and a beard, and has great customer service.
