Stopped in for the first time to check out the atmosphere and order Carryout. Great interior with plenty to do...pool tables and games. Looks like they have space for a live band and the service was friendly but slow. Probably a great spot if you are a big drinker. They may want to add in some smaller tables because there were plenty of super long tables with couples sitting at the majority of tables that accommodate 6-8 people. Appeared to be understaffed, but that really was not an issue. I ordered wings and hubby got a quesadilla. He was not a fan of the quesadilla and I did not like my wings at all. After hearing positive things about this place in social media we stopped in for burgers on a Sunday afternoon... they weren't busy when we got there and we sat at the bar. The bartender was helpful and friendly and gave us some suggestions. We each ordered a burger and they didn't take very long to come out. I ordered mine medium and my wife ordered medium well, but they both came out close to well done and very dry. The burgers sure did look beautiful and impressive, but when we bit into them, the meat was dry and flavorless. The toppings were decent, but wasn't enough to overcome the dryness of the meat. The bun was outstanding and toasted perfectly. The fries are crinkle cut and were pretty good as well. As for the venue, it's decent... more of a roadhouse type bar feel with open ceiling, cinderblock walls, and a musty smell. We'd return, but will probably try something else the next time. read more

I happened to find this place as I was traveling from NC to NY and stopped at the hotel next door for a night's sleep at the halfway point. It was a quiet night but the service was very good. The women servers and bartender were super attentive. Good menu. Lots of choices. I had fried oysters and a chicken sandwich. They came out quick and were very tasty. I see this place could be really fun on a night out. There are tons of pinball machines and other activities. A great place for a good meal for a tired traveler. read more

We came in on a weds night. There were 2 bar seats with dirty plates and glasses. We stood there for a few minutes and then I cleared the stuff over and wiped the bar so we could sit. We waited a good 10 minutes before the bartender came over. I asked for menus, I never got some so I took them off a table. We asked for a beer list and she just walked away. A guy at the bar( obviously a regular) said the bartender was slow. She'll come over eventually. Okay. So waited and waited....finally took a drink order after i called her over. Then we had to wait and wait and wait till I called her over again to take our order. So we gave her our order. She didn't write it down and had to come over 3 times to ask us to repeat the order. Then she forgot the Bleu cheese for the wings and I had to ask her 4 times for that. We did manage to get another beer! She was very nice but out to lunch!! I'm not sure if one terrible meal should deserve a bad review but I can't get past my experience here recently. This place is not a restaurant per se but a fun bar with a pub menu. I don't think there's a pub menu anywhere that doesn't have chicken wings on it so I thought I was safe with an order of 10. Turned out to be the worst chicken wings I ever had....didnt say "ate" cuz they were inedible. Incredibly tough, dry and overcooked. Hard as a rock. So...nice place, just don't order chicken wings. the staff are unhelpful, uncaring, basically there hanging out at the bar with there personal bar flys. We went in to spend money get drinks play games and have fun 47min 32seconds later we all walked out no service what so ever. not even a paper napkin. the 2 old waitresses just kept talking to there friends the entire time. This is a prime place and could be full up every single night but not with this management and certainly not with those ladies at all. Restaurant is extremely spacious and clean, with a lot of cool decor. Bar area was about half filled; dining area had no patrons. Dining area had pool tables, and a wall of pinball machines. They had a great variety of music. We were seated at a high top table for two. Our server came over, did not introduce herself, but we know her name to be "Megan" from our bill. She asked if we wanted anything to drink; we both got water. Before she walked off, I asked if they had any happy hour specials on food & she said that because they were newly open, they were not having specials yet. When she returned with our waters, we were prepared to order, but she told us that she would be back in a minute. She finally came back to our table, just as I was just about to walk out. Upon returning to our table, her first question was, can I refill your beverage, but then she stuttered mid sentence, and asked if another waitress had taken our order yet. I said I would like my water refilled, but I would like to order food first, considering I've been sitting here for 10 minutes waiting to order. My husband ordered the bacon cheeseburger with fries, and I ordered the southwest chicken salad. I asked what dressing comes on the salad, and she said a chipotle ranch, and I requested honey mustard. I asked if they had onion rings, and she replied that they didn't, and said that they had fries, tots or chips. I asked if I could order a side of tots. She left for a moment, came back, and asked if I wanted my "hush puppies" out with my food or beforehand. I said, "I didn't order hush puppies. Do you mean tots?" She said "Oh yes, tots". I said I would like them with the rest of the food. She leaves to put the order in, comes back another minute later, and says they don't have any tots. She asked if I wanted something else; I said no. We waited some time for our food. I grabbed one of my husband's fries immediately, and noted it to be limp and cold. Aside from that, they were fresh cut, and would've been dynamite hot! He cut off a bite of his cheeseburger for me. The burger was a bit dry, but flavorful and well seasoned. If it wouldn't have been so overcooked, it would've been a pretty decent burger. The bun was nicely toasted, and they used shredded lettuce, instead of leaf lettuce. My salad. At first glance, the salad was massive. It came with grilled chicken on it, even though the menu advertised it as fried chicken. The waitress did not ask me if I wanted fried or grilled chicken on the salad. They swapped out the chicken without asking me. The honey mustard had good flavor. There were a lot of fresh mushrooms. There were more mushrooms than chicken, and they had a strong earthy flavor. That's always a clear indication that the mushrooms have not been properly washed. The menu stated that the salad came with tomatoes; there wasn't one tomato on the entire salad. There were a few diced onions. What I generally get at most restaurants, are thin slices of red onion; not white onion, and definitely not diced, (like you would put on a hotdog). The black bean and corn, was spread throughout. The ratio of spinach to chicken to onion, black bean and corn, were all off. Massive amounts of raw leaves of spinach and mushrooms, a little grilled chicken, no tomato, and a bit of diced onions, black beans, and corn. What a waste from the kitchen! While I was piling our dishes, the waitress came over and cleared. She asked if we wanted a refill on our waters, which we replied that we did not, and we assumed that she would come back with our check. We waited, and she finally came back around, then asked if we wanted anything else. Naturally, if we wanted anything else, we would have ordered it when she was clearing the table, and when we turned down a refill on water. Just to make sure there were no misunderstandings again, I was very clear that we just wanted our bill. She brought our check, and I noticed that she charged an extra dollar for my salad. There was also an additional charge, for not paying with cash, which we were not made aware of until after the check came. There is an ATM on the premises, but the fee that the restaurant was charging, was slightly less than what the fee would be for the bank, so we decided to just eat the restaurant fee. Before our waitress came back to swipe our card, the owner Dave, had come over to our table, to ask that how things had went. I decided to let him know that my salad was not great. He apologized, as our waitress came over to take our card, and asked her to take off the salad from our bill. I didn't get into everything about our meal with him, because he's a busy man, and I'm certain that he got the gist of my concerns. I appreciated him making his rounds, to do quality control checks. That says a lot about him as a business owner! If he can get his wait staff and kitchen staff to get it together, they have a pretty good chance of being successful. Terrible experience. Very consistent on incorrect orders, ignoring customer basic needs including silverware for a simple side salad. Ordered a kids soda and kids hotdog for my daughter. Received and later saw was charged after asking the waitress for a regular adult soda, the first kids hot dog came out as a 1/4 lb chili cheese hotdog. I wish she would, but unfortunately our 8 year old won't eat that, just a plain hot dog. Second try, we get another massive 1/4lb glizzy, smothered in cheese yet again, lobbed onto the high top and waitress takes off. After flagging her down she states that she "hopes it's ok"- I ordered a tall local IPA for myself, ( can't remember the name cuz it's always something whacky like nipple correction braces or something ) she came out with a tall red ale that tasted like Killians Irish hamster wrinkles. Definitely wasn't what I ordered, Ordered another, yet a small hazy ipa. Definitely received a bud light. My partner ordered a burger. "Medium". That burger was the opening scene for a c section training video. Granted, I like my meat like that, I ate it. And it was great. I love a good burger that leaves me with a "that time of the month lip gloss" But, now we're annoyed ! Severely! Couldn't flag down waitress, had to search the compound to chase her down. Waitress blamed the multiple mistakes on a "language barrier in the kitchen". She brought out incorrect beer we desperately attempted to order multiple times. I guess that's the kitchens fault too. Had to literally and figuratively get up out of my seat and chase her down because she was clearly too interested in staring at the guy doing coke in the corner, or blinded by the glare of the video game lights flashing off her piercings during her ketamine fit. Had to chase her down yet again to get the bill. She throws it down on table and disappears before we can even still, put the card on the tray. Thankfully because once reviewing the itemized bill, she charge us for ALL THE WRONG ITEMS. We had to waited another 15 minutes for the waitress to come back for the card, and seriously we were considering waking out, when we spotted another waitress and told her of the situation, she cashed us out, and we just left. We held our class reunion social/ mingle here and have since held other large gatherings here. The food has been really good, the service is excellent and the owner is local and really easy to work with too. We were able to have almost 50 people in the game room who were eating, drinking , dancing and playing games- everyone had a great time. The staff was very accommodating and the DJ was amazing. There's a lot of floor space here, a nice dining area and a nice bar and on the other side they have several pool tables and pinball machines. it's a Wednesday night and they had a cheeseburger special. My husband and I had the pleasure of eating at the Bearded Monkey last night. We had stopped in Fredericksburg at the Holiday Inn Express next door on our way home from NJ. After hours of trying to get through DC, we were grateful to find a restaurant that we could walk to. This place is fantastic! It was a Wednesday night, and there was karaoke in the bar section that was well-attended by talented and passionate locals. We started with some huge, juicy wings that were piping hot and delicious. We also had the brisket plate and a Swiss mushroom burger. Both of these were great! I ordered the burger without the bun, and they generously included a big enough portion of extra lettuce and tomatoes that I enjoyed a small salad with our extra blue cheese dressing from the wings. They have a great selection of beer on tap, too! We will be back for sure the next time we are in Fredericksburg! read more

I went there today to have a couple of beers and a burger. I got the onion rings. This is the 2nd time I got the rings with the burger. Nasty. All batter no taste. But if you get then by them selves they are great. Small thing really. But this is why I am never going back. The food is great! Ate there a few times until the owner put up a sign. This is a gun free zone. The sign says, "no firearms, no exceptions" when you enter. That includes first responders (i.e. police). Just stay away from this place unless you are willing to take a chance of some nut case wanting to harm as many people as possible (i.e. you). read more

This was the first time I had been in there since the name change. As I stay in the Holiday Inn Express next door often on business it was good to finally have restaurant within walking distance. I was slightly disappointed in my experience after I sat down and was told they didn't have my gin brand so I did have a beer. Ordered fish and chips with side of fried mushrooms, the mushrooms were great but I must say I couldn't identify the fish served ( which is usual cod), fries were good and hot but the side of coleslaw that was included was inedible and had gone bad, had a horrible smell and taste. Finally there is a sports bar on the 17!! First off they just opened and still working things out. Bar area is nice and open, a lot of choices for draft beer. Service was good but as I said still working on the kinks. Disappointed about the posts that were posted on Taste of FXB about having a happy hour and wings special. Neither was the case. Went there and there was no happy hour and no wing specials. Shouldn't post something if it is not happening yet. Hopefully they get their happy hour going because it would be great and get more business!! Food was pretty good..,,Cheesesteak sandwich was great. Fried Chicken sandwich was good, but need to change the oil they fry it in. Fries would have better if they were hot & fresh. Prices on menu were not the same as the bill. We'd like more of these types of sports bars to pop up in Stafford and will support the Bearded Monkey going forward. Stopped for dinner with friends on way back from Myrtle beach us staying the night across the street at the Quality Inn. First went in and it said seat yourself. Maybe they ought to hire a hostess. Went to a high top table. Waited for 20 minutes with no one coming to attend to us. Someone in our party went to bar to let them know we needed service. Someone came about 10 minutes later with menus. Rest of our party food came out in 20 minutes no problem there. So I set there still waiting 20 minutes more for my 10 hot wings. I asked the waitress ismy food coming soon. She said yes. Looked behind me to find a guy that came in after us was eating wings. So finally I got my 10 wings. I told the the waitress it was unacceptable. My hold table was all but done eating. So after about 10 minutes a guy comes over and asked how everything was. I guess the manager. I told him never waited an hour for 10 wings. He proceeded to tell me he did not like I told the waitress it was unacceptable. A d told me he only had 1 cook working on a Saturday night. Dahh! By the way he was more worried about being behind the bar doing nothing. Maybe HE would like to help in the kitchen or help wait staff. I own a bar and grill in Pennsylvania. If this would be my manager he would be gone. He does not know how to run and bar & grill. Really what I seen the place has potential. Just under staffed with a manager not caring. Clarion hotel which it is connected to or the owner might step up and fix the problems. I being the manager I would have atleast comp the wings.
