Super mediocre brewery experience. The beer is fine, I usually get the Homestyle IPA when I go to other places for a beer in Nashville. $6 is a reasonable price for one here. The staff was pretty unfriendly though. Didn't seem like they were too excited to offer any insight on the beers or share any knowledge. I felt almost embarrassed to even ask for beer recommendations, they seemed so standoffish. Aside from that, the environment was fine and it was fun to play pool. I don't think I'll be coming back through here anytime soon though. read more

This place was interesting, it was really big inside. Also, cool that you could watch them brew during the time we were there. Normally we never get to see that part. The decorations, seating etc was interesting. I felt like that could have had a revamp, there was a cool old couch that looked cozy and cool so we say down and it sank to the bottom and wasn't comfortable, but I liked the vibe they were going for. The beer was yummy so that's the real review. We approved!! read more

Bearded Iris Brewing - Breweries Near Me - Nashville, Tennessee

Really looked forward to visiting this brewery while in Nashville. I definitely think they have one of the most unique bar areas I have ever seen in a brewery. It looks like it came straight out of a cathedral. The beers themselves were good, but nothing blew our socks off. I think it would have been nice if they had engaged us more in what they had. We are beer enthusiasts, but we might have gotten a better beer if they explained all of their varieties more. They have an indoor and outdoor area for seating. They seem family friendly as well and their were lots of kiddos around. read more

This review is for the beer. The brewery doesn't serve food, and I do not believe that they do flights. Now... for the beer. I am a California native spoiled with proximity to such breweries as Stone, Firestone Walker, Russian River, Sanctum, Sierra Nevada... you get the picture. When my wife and I decided to move to Nashville I was mourning the loss of golden hills, crimson sunsets, and steel-grey cordilleras as far as the eye could see. Not only did I mourn the loss of the land, but also of California's hoppy bounty; I was also mourning the loss of access to many of my favorite brews. While resigning myself to drinking Goose Island IPA's, thinking that they only mountains I would get get to see were etched in the side of Coors cans in the dark recesses of my brown recluse-infested apartment, I was offered a moment of hope. Yes, a beam of silver light pierced the darkness of my beer-wasteland. It shone from the depths of Germantown, gleaming across the jade surface of the Cumberland. This beacon shone from the ivory tower of Bearded Iris, a blossom of incomparable beauty. I have tried and shunned the best of Yazoo, the cream of Fat Bottom, the elite of Southern Grist, and the pinnacle Jackalope. Lo, no brew can stand before Bearded Iris, the champion of Germantown. In every instance I have and shall continue to elect Bearded Iris above all Nashvillian hop-smithery. To date, some 5 months after moving to Nashville, I have sampled some 16 different Bearded Iris beers, and I am stunned to say that there has only been one that I have not cared for. From pilsners to IPAs (of which the various iterations compose the bulk of their offerings) they have stunned me at every turn. Truly, you cannot do better than Bearded Iris. But yeah, they could arrange more food trucks I guess. read more

We were visiting Nashville and were excited to try a new brewery and we were sadly disappointed. The employees were nice but the beer was on the warmer side. Our biggest problem was that the music they played was so offensive. The lyrics dropped the Fbomb, the N word and getting whores pregnant so they could be babies momma's . I understand rap isn't for everyone but it certainly doesn't belong in a brewery. The beer wasn't good and the music awful. A lose, lose all the way around. read more

We came on a day when brewing operations were not active, so the only lights turned on were the chandeliers making it pretty dim and kind of cozy. We arrived right at opening on a Sunday and there was a small line! Good sign of a popular and typically awesome spot for drinks. There was only 1 bartender taking care of a packed house but he somehow managed to provide great service! We had food delivered while sharing a few pints, making it an awesome stop on our Nashville adventure. There are only two toilets, so had to wait in line a few times. But there bathrooms were clean! I also noticed it's dog and kid friendly. Maybe that's normal in Tennessee but not always the case where I'm from. There are also a stack of board games available! I saw a few big groups using them. read more

Really great spot! Such a fun building with a bunch of weird eclectic art, a sweet antique bar, and an amazing outdoor patio! Seemed like every second or third person was ordering the Homestyle IPA so I figured that was the one to try - it did not disappoint! Not too hoppy and almost sour but it came out nice. read more

Bearded Iris Brewing - Summer patio - Breweries Near Me - Nashville, Tennessee

I really enjoy Bearded Iris beers. They specialize in IPAs and I was not disappointed by the selection in their tiny tap room. They might make my favorite IPAs in the city. It's off the beaten path a bit -- but I tend to like that. Service was fantastic. Honestly, I'm only knocking a star off because of the taproom itself. I would have rather drank outside on the patio since the inside felt a little too dark and too tense. The fermentation smell was a little overpowering for me with the heavy IPA, maybe? But, man, those IPAs are so solid I'll come back. read more

Great IPA and Double IPA, but that's as far as I got. I like the interior decor and the deck, but the smell of fermentation permeates the bar area; it took some getting used to. Good selection of swag and to-go items and the service was fantastic. Keep up the good work. read more

Bearded Iris is a great local bar where you're bound to find an interesting mix of guests. Some people partying, some people studying, some people on dates - all drinking an excellent selection of draft beers. They have spacious indoor and patio seating options, and never seem to be terribly busy. Their relaxed aesthetic creates a vibe perfect for stopping by for a quick drink. Service was a bit slow and unfriendly, but overall a fun and relaxing place. Definitely recommend checking it out. read more

Had a great time, and a few incredible brews, at Bearded Iris - what a great spot. Had come highly recommended, and after my initial visit I can see why. An industrial vibe off the beaten path, these guys are worth tracking down. There was a line throughout with good reason, and the team moved quickly and did a great job. A very cool, friendly vibe. The brews were awesome - didn't have one bad one. Easily could have stayed another hour or two and enjoyed even more - next time for sure! Beer lovers in Nashville - hit them up! read more

A very cool spot that is off the beaten path in Germantown. I would be prepared to be underwhelmed by the surrounding, but be ready to impressed by the service and quality of the beer being served. I was on the number four of the beer tour when I hit this spot. The AC was not kicking hard so it was little hot inside the brewery and the lights were set very low. We adjusted our view and saw a great secret revealed in the flavor of the brew and cool placement of the bar. The art work in the bathroom says it all. If your in town from local to out of town you need to hit this spot and enjoy the not ordinary brewery. Support and promote this place to all the outsiders... read more

Definitely one of the best brewery in Nashville for IPA and sour. They have fantastic selection and there's always something new. My favorite here is definitely attention please. It's hazy, juicy and fruity. The brewery is super chill, and staff there are really nice and helpful. The package on the cans are clean and thought out just like their beers. Audrey makes this the best environment. Love the beer, love the ambiance, grade a bartenders (Audrey!!!)

Good beer.. but everybody seems too cool for there customers. I don't dig that attitude in brewery's!!

Hands down, best brewery in Nashville if you like IPAs. They've got 2 locations. Not many beers you can go wrong with here.

This place was awful, I was out of town and meeting some friends and the bartenders looked bored and not friendly, they didn't even acknowledge us the one girl with glasses looked awfully bored and like she didn't want to be there. I would not recommend this place to anyone that's out of town. I won't be returning or telling others to go there when visiting Nashville for a place to be called after the Tennessee state flower they sure aren't representing that well. read more

If you're into IPAs, this is your place. If not, then this might be kind of slim pickins for you. I love IPA and usually order Bearded Iris if I'm out in Nashville. Trying this brewery was a no-brainer for me and I'm actually surprised it took me this long. Bearded Iris Brewing is located in Germantown in the vicinity of 5th & Taylor and the Germantown Depot if you are familiar with those. While parking in Germantown usually isn't too bad (if you aren't afraid to walk a few blocks) we were happy to see the brewery had its own parking lot. There is a patio outside with lights to lead the way towards the entrance. It was a chilly night in Nashville but the patio looked like the perfect place to hang in warmer weather. When entering, the taproom is located to the right of the actual brewery. I was a little surprised with how small the actual drinking area was. It was pretty busy being a Saturday night and most of the tables were full. There were still open seats at the bar and near the back so no problemo. The taproom has a very industrial chic type of feel. I was really diggin it. The bar has beautiful woodwork behind it that I'm guessing was from an old church. Two big crystal chandeliers hang from the ceiling and set some nice mood lighting. The art on the walls is interesting to look at. For beer, the selection isn't as big as other breweries. I want to say there were about 8-10 choices. I ordered the Chasing Rainbow Seven. It was an IPA hopped with denali, cashmere, nelson & citra. This was my favorite of the night. I was driving so I had to limit myself to just one beer, but I also had a sip of my boyfriend's beer. He ordered the Finesse (a pilsner) and Drip Drop (IPA). The Drip Drop was not my favorite. It was a little too fruity for me and didn't have as much hop. I would actually recommend this to people that usually don't drink IPAs. The Pilsner was good and I appreciated that it had more flavor than most pilsners. Oh, I also want to note that both bartenders we had were friendly and provided service with a smile. This is definitely not a given in Nashville. One special touch that I thought was pretty cool is they have a projected game of Mario Kart going on the back wall. I believe it is the Nintendo 64 classic version (4 player). There was also a pool table for your entertainment. Overall, I really REALLY liked the vibe here. It's definitely a more relaxed place so don't expect a raging party. Come here to drink good beer with good friends in a good atmosphere. read more

We loved the beer here but the guys behind the bar were just not friendly at all and just had a crappy attitude. We had a beer and bought 7 4 packs to go. U would think when someone is spending over $100 u could be a little nicer. We were surprised because since we've been here everyone has been so nice everywhere we go besides here. read more

If you like IPA's, this is the place for you! I really enjoyed their Punchline sour IPA. The tasting room has an industrial vibe and open setting, so you can watch the brewers in action. Do you like IPA's? Do you like craft beer? Do you like beer in general? GO TO BEARDED IRIS! They are known for their IPA's and double IPA's, but even if you don't think you like those kinds of beers, I think you would enjoy Bearded Iris' selection. They don't have the super bitter/hoppy taste that IPA's are known but still keep a great flavor profile. I had the Ever Clever DDH, Double Scatterbrain DDH w/ Citra, Catalyst, Homestyle, and Tunnel Vision during my time in Tennessee. read more

Unreasonable service and rules. Cannot purchase their beer and drink on their property.

The only options at this place include IPAs. So if you have any sense of variety in beer don't come here. Also it smells like straight up dog food factory in this establishment. So if you're coming to try and have a beer don't bother because all you're gonna be able to smell is this nasty ass Iams dog food brand while trying to taste your IPA beer. Also the hours listed here on yelp are absolutely wrong because I'm sitting here right now while it's open and booming (not sure why with this smell) and it says it's closed on yelp so, owners, get it together. The IPA is decent though. The longer I'm sitting here the more it smells like the state fair. read more

not a bad beer brewed here! worked through the tap menu and took the rest home from the cooler. Destination for sure, top 10 brewer in North America in my book read more

TLDR: If IPAs are your thing, Bearded Iris does some of the best you'll find anywhere. Tucked away in Germantown, Bearded Iris is a must for any fan of craft beer, especially those who love IPAs. While the thought of a stereotypical craft beer loving hipster may come to mind when it comes to IPAs, there is no denying that that Bearded Iris does this style of craft beer really well. Bearded Iris does have a great reputation throughout the United States and it is very much sought after by those not in the Southeast. Bearded Iris is located in an industrial park a mile or so north of downtown Nashville, so it's just far enough away that you won't have to deal with parking issues. There's a big gravel parking lot located right by the entrance and if you don't Uber, Lyft, etc. here, you should get a spot right up front. Bearded Iris has a cool vibe to it - it's very chill here and I'd probably hang out a lot if I lived in Nashville. There's a decent amount of bar seating and tables spread throughout the tap room, and there's a pool table and a projector set up with Mario Kart on N64 in case you want some friendly competition. It seems like where the projector is set up can also hold some live music, so look out for that on Saturday nights. As far as the beer goes, don't be surprised if most, if not all, of the selections available are IPAs, Double IPAs, double dry hopped IPAs, etc. It reminded me of Scofflaw Brewing Co in Atlanta, GA and Other Half Brewing Co in Brooklyn, NY. While it may seem redundant, these aren't just your typical hoppy, bitter IPAs. There are unique flavors to each and what Bearded Iris puts out is more forward thinking than a lot of other breweries. There are no flights here, but with 8 or so beers on tap, it is cool that they do half pours so you can try many, if not all of their beers. I was able to try: - Red Handed - Chasing Rainbows Four - Double Dry Hopped Ever Clever - Homestyle - Double Dry Hopped Chief of Chiefs - Offbeat It's no surprise that all six were IPAs, but I really enjoyed all six. I particularly enjoyed Red Handed - it's got a good mango flavor to it, which I found to be delicious. According to their website, pets are welcome in the patio area right outside the front entrance and that they're family friendly as well. In case you want to bring food with you, you're more than welcome to have some with your beer. The staff seem to really enjoy craft beer and the service was great. Overall, while you'll mostly see IPAs and variations of IPAs here, Bearded Iris is definitely a must for the craft beer fan in Nashville. read more

If you like IPAs go, like for sure. If you like beer, go. If you like a fun vibe, go. Great outdoor seating area. You can see the brewing gear from the taproom bar which I always think adds much to the brewery-visiting experience. They kinda know they are cool, and have a following, and I got that vibe from the staff - which was slightly off-putting.... but 5 stars for the beer. It is really good. read more

If you're a out-of-towner, Bearded Iris is a must! If you're a lifelong Nashvillian, Bearded Iris is a must! If you can't get enough of NE IPA's, Bearded Iris is a must! I live out-of-state & right now, Bearded Iris is highly desired amongst the craftbeer-loving blogger snobs right now due to their reputation of making top-quality IPA's. I was in town this past weekend & during the 3 days I was there, they released 3 new IPA's & from what I've learned they release something new pretty much every week. The 3 that I got to witness; Chief of Chiefs, Tiki Time, & Mood Ring, were all NEIPA's but each were unique & individual n their respective rights. Tiki Time is part of a collaboration with Pinthouse Pizza, which is located in my neck of the woods, which was cool to see a familiar face (to me) collaborate with such a edgy brewery as Bearded Iris! They release so many new beers it's easy to miss out on what they've previously released if you're not in town enough, luckily there's great beer stores like Filling Station East who will most likely have some of their previous weeks' releases that have long sold-out at the brewery itself! If you're into craftbeer & happen to be in Nashville, it's worth the visit! These guys are really going places & will soon enough be a household name. read more

Cool spot to hang and drink some beers Pros -Lots of indoor and outdoor seating (outdoor is dog friendly and saw a dog indoors, not sure if that is their policy or not) -Their beers all have a crisp and clean finish, regardless of the flavor profile. -Better IPAs than Southern Grist IMO - Mood Ring Milkshake DIPA was outstanding and Chasing Rainbows was probably the best IPA I have had outside of Treehouse. -Mario Kart on the projector, I mean come on that is awesome -Very reasonably priced and offer half pours which was awesome as well Cons -No food when I visited, but I am sure they have food trucks on the reg. Would highly recommend this spot to any beer enthusiast, you will absolutely not be dissapointed. read more
