I thought I always had good haircuts in the past until I walked out with a "Jim cut" (there is a fancy Italian name for the technique with all straight razor, but I will just call it the Jim cut"). This was my first time here and Jim did a great job on my hair. Very detail-oriented guy. Paid very close attention to instructions. I wrote down how I normally get my haircut and he followed it. Added a few twists and spins to my hair. Love this place. One thing that stuck out was the cancellation policy. It's 24 hours in advanced without charge. After that it's a full charge. Just thought it would be nice to meet clients halfway and offer a limited number of grace cancellations for each customer (sick, family emergency, etc). One thing that would be cool would be if there's an option to pay in advanced and if you need to cancel or reschedule, that credit stays with bearded barber and you can just use that to book again? Just a thought Other than that, great experience overall. Clean barber shop, Jim had all the clippers, dryers, shavers, you name it. Will be back and looking forward to my next visit. TIP: this place is no longer a secrete. Word is out, so book an online appointment 1-2 weeks out if you want a specific time and Barber! For years I went to various haircut chains and barbers looking for a place to call home. Problem with chains is you never know what cutter you'll get and the quantity varied. It wasn't worth the cheap price. Ive been coming here for 2 years and the cuts are great every time. Each barber shop has its own "vibe" and atmosphere. Had a meeting run late, tried to reschedule but they won't answer the phone so you can't reschedule nor can you reschedule on the website. Normally businesses would charge a missed fee but not here they charge you full price $40! Also my first visit they moved locations with out informing customers of the new location they are left to find out on their own and then must locate the new place. I don't get my hair cut very often so I don't have a "regular" Barber. I've been growing out my beard so i decided to try this place. It was a good experience. Booking was very easy on line and they accommodated a same day appointment that needed. They don't do walk-ins plan ahead. Location is good with plenty of easy parking Shop is simple and "old-timey" in a good way. Louis Armstrong and the like was playing and the typical Barber/customer banter was in full swing. I think my barber was named Cody- and he did a good job. Was communicative and clear about what he was doing throughout the cut, beard trim and neck shave. I did have to wait about 10-15 minutes after my appointment time to actually get in the chair butI had given myself plenty of time so it was ok. All in all a very good Barber experience. read more

Pardon my French, but I @&$%ing love this place!!! Seriously, I might ask them if I can rent a room out in the back. I started visiting Jim and Casey when they were sharing space in a spa building and have followed them to their new shop. They added three chairs to service more customers and they are not hurting for business. The secret about this place is out! Come by and just smell the place, it smells like your grandfather. Seriously! It's a nice warm and welcoming place with a scotch and beer ready for you. Today they had donuts. I came in early just so I could hang out, listen to the music, have a drink, munch on a donut, and just chill. Haven't even had the services yet but man that's great too! Warm towels, warm cream, straight razor, AMAZING attention to detail. I even fInd myself wanting to try additional services like waxing just to check it out. They provide their own beard and hair products too that I might eventually buy when I deplete my stock. I read a few reviews of this place about how people get upset they were charged for not showing up or being late or something like that. Yeah, book an appoint and show up! One time I was a knucklehead and was late. Casey contacted me and was very proactive about me being late. It was 100% my fault and told him as much. He replied saying he wants my experience to be a good one and make sure I get what I need but he does have to take time into consideration. I mean they have bills to pay folks so just show up. If you don't, they'll work with you. I was 30 minutes late and I had an abbreviated appointment but still left pleased and had a great time. The only critique I would offer is that they do run a little behind on appointments but that's a good thing. They'll make sure when it's your turn, you are the focus of their attention and will make the experience one you'll want to come back and duplicate. Seriously, stop reading this and book an appointment. If you don't like it, hit me up so I can buy you a beer and tell you why you're wrong. read more

Terrible. I don't know how Casey cuts but when it comes to the bearded barber don't go here for your beard at least when it comes to Jim. I asked for him to shape my beard and he took it upon himself to trim it pretty short then he moved my neck line way far up from where I had it he also forgot to straight razor my neck and somehow cut half my side burn off? My husband really enjoyed this place but we won't be back. Austin traffic is a nightmare so we usually leave our house 1 hour before the appointment, which we did today. However, there was a food drive in our town, which is down to one road in and out due to construction. It put us significantly behind from the start. We had no idea the food drive was going on. We tried to call them right away to let them know and see if we could push the appointment back - no answer and the voicemail refers you to the website. Then we get to Mopac and it's even more backed up than normal. Again, we tried to call - no answer. After all of that we were only 14 minutes late. My husband tried to explain that we tried to call and they still turned him away and charged him for the missed appointment. He even offered to hang out in the parking lot in case an opening became available but they told him they were completely booked. I just looked online and they had an appointment available at 1:30 so which is it? Some things are out of the customer's control. If you want to charge for "missed appointments" then you need to answer your phone or have a way for customers to get in contact with you. When my husband got back to the car at 12:01, 16 minutes after the appointment time, he received a text message asking where he was and informing him that he was going to have to move onto the next appointment if he wasn't there soon. Again, my husband explained that he was in fact there, had just been turned away, and that he was willing to wait. Again, they said they were charging him anyway. Who is sending these text messages that was unaware that my husband was in fact there? This is not a cheap barbershop and it is not worth the risk of unforeseen events making you slightly late and then being charged for an expensive appointment anyway. Again, completely out of our control, we left our house early, we tried to call twice. Very disappointed. read more

Despite all efforts to create and maintain a "self-consciously manly environment," this place is the perfect place to relax, be yourself, and get made into the best version of yourself. They have the perfect atmosphere, giving you a high-class shave with a high-class feel at an extremely reasonable price. Some barber shops give you water and maybe beer while you wait... this barber shop has those and a fine selection of scotch and rum. They go the extra mile in everything they do. It's not a place to go if you just want to get in and out and spend $5-$15 and then end up having to go back and get it re-done. They get it right the first time. Casey and Jim have a great rapport with their clients, and I could tell the clients are loyal to these guys. The appointment times book up far in advance so be prepared for that. On Monday, I was lucky to find the only opening with Casey this week. He saw me on Wednesday afternoon.
