This place was amazing. Driving from SLC to Jackson a must stop! Just a quick little detour you get to drive along the stunning Bear Lake and stop for a great steak. This place has a lot of charm and our server, Jenny, was so nice. I got the prime rib, my friend and girlfriend got steaks. Butchered in house. Bear Lake is now on our radar and we'd love to come back this summer because of our experience at Bear Trapper.

    Oh Let's E.

The wait is long. We waited for 30 mins and The food was horrible. Kids chicken tenders were hard as rock. The blt was soggy and the stake was over cooked. The restaurant decor was cute but the restaurant its self needs to be cleaned. Unfortunately there are not a lot of places to eat in the area. I do not recommend. We will not be going back.

My husband and I recently rode our motorcycle to Bear Lake/Garden City, UT. Our original intention was to have lunch at Cody's Gastro Garage after hearing some good things about it, but between a lukewarm reception and learning that we had to scan a QR code to see a full menu, we were irreparably turned off and left. We headed down the street and found the Bear Trapper. There was a crowd of people on the bench out in front, so we were all, "uh-oh, wonder how long we'll have to wait for a table?" Turns out they were just waiting on a friend, but we took the opportunity to ask if they knew the restaurant and if they did the QR code thing, how was the food, etc. Upon hearing "no" to the QR code and "yes" that the food was good, we decided to give the place a try. We walked in and there was ~10 people waiting in the lobby. A very personable young man in a cowboy hat, bolo tie, turquoise jewelry, and other rodeo regalia greeted us right away (how it SHOULD be!) and assured us we would be seated in a timely fashion, and we were. The dining area was clean and decorated in typical Western steakhouse fashion. We received menus and were pleasantly surprised to find the prices very reasonable. We both ordered Malibu Chicken sandwiches, which were served on toasted brioche buns and not plain white hamburger buns. The french fries were good, too, not overly salty. Our server was friendly and efficient. I think it took ~7 minutes form the time we ordered to get our food. After paying for our meal (in CASH - horrors! ) we talked to the young cowboy for a bit, and he told us about the town's motorcycle rally in September and other things we might enjoy seeing or doing in the Bear Lake area. He was not only an excellent brand ambassador for the Bear Trapper, but for the town. The only reasons the Bear Trapper doesn't get a higher score from me at this time are: 1. our table wasn't in the greatest location, near the emergency exit at the back of the main dining area. But in all fairness, the place was packed, and there were only two of us, so I get that. Plus we were never "forgotten" about, we received the same quality of service that everyone else in the place did. 2. there was a large booth next to us that needed to be bussed, and it remained unattended the entire time we were there. But those were minor issues in the overall picture. We would happily go back to the Bear Trapper again. Next time, we'll try the prime rib!

Food was surprisingly good, the breakfast burrito with bacon was delightful and full of flavor. The pancakes were nice and fluffy, as was the French toast. Everyone loved the hot chocolate. Waitress was polite and attentive, overall good service. Cute, cozy, well maintained (not run down at all.) definitely recommend if you're in the area.

I have a large family so it was a really nice and affordable option for breakfast. My kids loved their pancakes. The service was superb. My coffee and water was always filled. I highly recommend this place for breakfast and will be sure to go there again on our annual family bear lake trips.

The pastrami burger is excellent! Had to try a Utah fav and the broiled salmon is amazing. Highly recommend their raspberry lemonade too Our waitress Delanee was super sweet. 5 star experience across the board

The food was decent. I like how the menu had smaller portion options. It was a fun unique place to eat while visiting bear lake.

The waitress was very sweet and friendly. I liked the booths and decor of this place, very woodsy. I feel the price matched the food well. It was very affordable and their fries and raspberry shakes are so delicious.

Very soft complimentary bread with butter and raspberry jam

This was my second visit, and unfortunately it was almost identical to the first. The welcome was not very friendly, and our waitress walked by the table several times before finally speaking to us. After that, she never really came back to check on us, ask whether we needed anything, or see how the food was. The next thing we knew, she was dropping off the bill. We ordered two appetizers, but only one was brought out. I also clearly mentioned that I have a food allergy, and she said she would let the kitchen know. Even so, the appetizer arrived with the ingredient I'm allergic to, and nothing was said about it. On top of that, the salad came with the wrong dressing. That said, the seared ahi tasted fresh, and the greens with salmon really hit the spot. The food itself was enjoyable, which makes the service issues even more disappointing. It is hard to overlook a missed appetizer, the wrong dressing, and especially the mishandling of a food allergy. This place has a lot of potential, but the service definitely needs work.

Second table (different waitress) waited over an hour for our food! And that was only because the waitress from the first table felt sorry for us and took over. Food is mediocre. Service was terrible. And they were out of two of our choices, which we were told 15 minutes after we ordered. Basically, our waitress should not be working at a restaurant. We will find other places to eat. Not going back for a two hour meal consisting of mostly burgers, salads, and other dishes that should take any competent kitchen/waitress roughly 20 minutes to make and deliver. Avoid if you value your time!

I had a few special requests due to me sharing my burger with my dog and they did not disappoint. The shake was really good. Blended well. I had raspberry and Oreo cookie. It would've been nice to taste a little more raspberry in the shake. They pride themselves on using fresh raspberries and that is the reason. Fresh fruit mixed with dairy tampons the tartness and dulls a lot of the sweetness.. I believe macerating some raspberries and sugar and finishing with some fresh lemon zest or even a little lemon juice and adding that to the fresh raspberries would knock it out of the park. I put it on the floorboard so my dog wouldn't get at it and accidentally knocked it over. It was so thick that only the huge amount that sticks out of the cup touched the floor mat. Awesome!!!!!!! I got the biggest burger they had. A half pound with two kinds of cheese and pastrami burger. It wasn't called a pastrami burger so I'm not gonna complain that it's just one thick slice. It was more like how you would add bacon to a burger. All the veggies were super fresh. Their choice of bun is the best bun I've had since my road trip began a week ago. Here's my opinion on the burger. The burger had no beef flavor. The only flavor came from the wonderful charcoal grill marks on the burger. Don't be afraid of salt. It's a chef's favorite condiment. The biggest complaint and my only true complaint is that the burgers have a horrible texture to them. Like two quarter pounds of beef breakfast sausage. Not good. If somehow it is how ground I'd recommend using a smaller die and leaving out the transglutaminase. Dog loved it. Would I come again? I sure would. Mos Def

Take my advice and make a reservation, especially if you're visiting on a weekend. This place is hoppin'. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the kindest woman and seated quickly. Our waitress was warm, attentive, and genuinely lovely. Now, come in knowing this: the food is to die for, but there will be a wait, and it's 100% worth it. Your server won't let your drink run empty, the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, and patience is rewarded here. We ordered the pot roast and the salmon. The pot roast was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and the salmon was cooked to absolute perfection. We thought that was very nice to pause for a moment to let your staff go and enjoy a fun activity that was right outside of the restaurant. They were back within a few minutes and they began taking orders. We didn't mind the short wait and we appreciated that the owners knew it was important to give their staff a little break. They have restrooms available for patrons, that are clean and tidy. Parking is in the back and along the street to the north, but nothing is available in the front so be aware of that. Handicap parking is in the back. They have a typical shake shack style menu and a few fun things, including Dole whip, the Disneyland style. They have a classic Bear Lake raspberry shake. You can get fish, burgers, chicken, and even corn dogs. Entrée items are sold separate from things like fries, tater tots, and onion rings. They also have sweet potato fries. We decided to each order a different side so that we could all try each other's. The fries, sweet potato fries and the onion rings are fantastic. Those are what we ordered. You can sit inside of a boat, at a traditional table with chairs, on a bench with a fun wooden hand, carved table, underneath a umbrella and a round table. There are pretty much plenty of options for receiving. They have what they call a sauce bar, which is a collection of different types of sauces for your sides. It's fun to choose a few different ones and taste them all with your sides. We had the Bear Lake Muenster burger, the cheeseburger, a corn dog, and the honey chipotle chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich and the corndog were great. The Muenster burger was pretty good, but the cheeseburger was nothing to write home about - it was undercooked and they used American cheese instead of cheddar cheese, which isn't my favorite and made it a lot more bland. It had hardly any sauce on it And there was only one tomato on. It was a very large sandwich but not a lot of flavor. The buns they use are fantastic but know that they are a softer bun so if you don't like a soft bun you may not like their sandwich, so just get it without a bun and eat it with a fork and knife Items can be made gluten-free, it didn't appear they had anything in term of vegan options other than the sides, but I'm sure they would make something custom. When they took our order, they were extremely friendly and they were very fast when it came to our food getting to us. There is a place to play games in the back that includes cornhole, a giant connect 4 game, and just enjoying the music. The music wasn't something we could hear very well, but it would've been fun to hear it because it seemed to be a good mix. Unfortunately, mostly what we heard the entire time we were there were orders being called over a loudspeaker. So if you don't want to hear the loudspeaker don't sit under the covered area. Overall, this is a fun new, hip beach joint. Great for lunch or stopping after a day on the lake.
