I recently stayed at the Wolf's Den cabin, rented through Bear Tracts Rentals, a place I've visited multiple times in the past, and unfortunately, my experience this time was disappointing.
To start, the cabin wasn't cleaned properly. It was clear that minimal effort had been made, as a few extra towels were simply tossed on one of the dressers. The mattress had noticeable dips, making it uncomfortable to sleep. Additionally, there was a tear in the carpet that I know has been there for years, which contributed to the overall unkempt appearance. I also found dead bugs on the stairs and in the laundry room. To make matters worse, there was a broken glass just left in the kitchen cabinet, which posed a safety hazard.
The Hospitality app that I was required to download was frustrating, sending constant duplicate messages. One of the info emails even suggested that guests should sweep up the bugs themselves, which I found unacceptable. It's hard to believe that the bugs just appeared between the time housekeeping left and my arrival, making it clear that proper cleaning wasn't done.
Moreover, the door lock to my room was extremely difficult to turn, requiring a lot of force to get it to work properly. This added an unnecessary hassle to my stay.
For the price I paid, I expected a much better experience. While I appreciate the arts and crafts community and the location, I believe that the quality of the cabin has declined over the years--possibly due to new management--while the rates have remained high. I can overlook some natural wear and tear, but a greater effort should be made to ensure a clean and comfortable stay. If management disagrees with my observations, I strongly recommend they check it out for themselves. read more
