    Steak on Rye.

I'm a huge fan of Bear Steak's original location on College, so when I found out I'd be in the vicinity of The Well, I knew I had to stop by their outpost there. I showed up a little before noon and decided to go with their monthly special, Steak on Rye ("Pastrami Steak, Melted Swiss, Housemade Russian dressing + Sauerkraut, Rye Bread"). The sandwich was ready about ten minutes later and it sure looked impressive. And although I was a little thrown by the cold bread and far from hot sandwich, I wound up enjoying this concoction a whole lot. The various components are above average, certainly, but it's the meat that makes this a huge winner. It's just so tender and flavorful. I could've eaten a whole pile of that meat just by itself. In the future, I'll probably stick with their Original Steak sandwich, mostly because that chimichurri is just next level. But this sandwich was pretty great in its own right.

This was my first time trying this bear steak location! I have been to the original college location many years ago, when it first opened, and really enjoyed it. This restaurant is in a more busy space, within the wellington market inside of 'The Well'. I appreciated the ample seating space, compared to their last location which was mostly a takeaway spot. I ordered the original steak sandwich (chimichurri on the side) and a side of fries. I believe the fries are cooked in beef tallow but it wasn't super noticeable in my opinion. The food took about 15 minutes to be prepared. It was a good relatively affordable steak sandwich for downtown Toronto, but I do wish it was slightly warmer when it came out. Overall a positive experience and I would like to try their steak sandwiches with cheese next time.

First things first, the food came out fairly quickly (within 5 minutes) and was hot/fresh. The customer service ok although I was surprised they were already out of their special sandwich around lunch hour. In terms of food itself, I enjoyed the sandwich, the bread was soft and the meat was tender and smothered in chimichurri sauce. The sauce had a kick to it, which I liked but I found it to be a tad too salt. I also got fries on the side, which were good (crispy and thin) but the sauce they serve with it was delicious (chimichurri aoli perhaps)? Overall, a good sandwich and not a totally bad way to spend $20 (seems standard for Toronto).

Finally got around to trying Bear Steak after seeing it all over social media. Thankfully it opened up at the Well and I was in the area for a concert so the timing was perfect. It's in the newer area of the Wellington market with lots of new spots and lots of seating. There was no line and the staff was very efficient. Got a buzzer and waited just a bit as they made the sandwich fresh. Finally dug in a the steak was a nice medium rare. The bread was soft and complemented the steak well. The Chims sauce was definitely a highlight that brought the whole sandwich together. It had a nice balance of being herbaceous, spicy, and flavourful. I was tempted to get more to bring home if I didn't have plans after the fact. Definitely a must-try spot for sandwich and steak lovers alike.

Tried the steak sandwich and it was pretty good overall. I found the steak a bit salty for my taste, but it was cooked well and it was a generous portion of steak. The sauce was a bit spicy which I liked. I also liked the texture of the bread - was soft but still had a bit of a crunch.

Great spot to try if you love meat! Their menu is limited to just 2 sandwiches and 1 burger, but they simply stick to what they do best. This location is in the newish Well food hall, which is one level down from street level (take the stairs down). Lots of first come first serve seating because of this. The service was great and very friendly. They had a steady stream of customers and seem to be one of the busiest spots in the hall. When we went (Wednesday before a Jays game) they were already out of the roast pork, so we both had the steak sandwich and fries. Fries were a hit and come with a dipping sauce. The steak sandwich has large cuts of rare steak on a ciabatta bun with a chimichurri that has some kick! The meat is definitely the star of the sandwich.

The bear steak has the best steak sandwiches. The steak is made only medium rare and is sliced into small pieces in a soft sandwich bun. I also ordered fries which came with chimichuri sauce. The only odd thing is they don't have other condiments like ketchup for the fries. It still all tasted amazing! The sandwiches take some time to be made but it's totally worth the wait!

I wasn't even planning to pop into Shake Shack but a sign advertising their Korean-inspired menu…read moredrew me in like a bear to honey. Everything sounded appetizing but I finally opted for the K-Shack Fried Chicken Sandwich ("Antibiotic-free, hand-breaded whole white-meat chicken breast glazed in spicy-sweet sesame gochujang, topped with fresh scallions and kimchi slaw made with Choi's Kimchi, served on a toasted potato bun"). The ordering process at this location couldn't be easier: you enter what you want at the kiosk, pay, and then wait. It only took a few minutes before my sandwich was ready. And it's a good sandwich. Those Korean flavors really shine through, and that coleslaw cuts the heavy sauce quite nicely. The chicken itself was on the extremely dry side but otherwise I really enjoyed this concoction. The seating upstairs and downstairs meant it was easy enough to grab a table, too. It's a solid fast-food joint.

This may be toted as just another burger place spot but it is far from your average joint…read more I had lunch here recently and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. The service was friendly and patient as I was greeted upon entry and took my time perusing the menu. The restaurant was very clean and organized, not a lot of stuff on the walls and the bathrooms were in top shape which I appreciated. I ordered the classic double burger, with a side a fries and a cane cola. The burger was delicious! Toppings were fresh and tasty, and it made a mess with the sauces and condiments which is a sign of a great burger. It wasn't overly huge, a good size for my hands and they did get messy as I devoured this scrumptious burger. The Cane Cola was a nice accompaniment to try for the first time but not necessary to enjoy the burger. The fries were golden and crispy and quite a large portion for the price. I just wished the fry lengths were a bit longer as I received a lot of tiny pieces instead of longer potatoes which meant I was scooping them up in my hand to eat them. Not a dealbreaker, just an annoyance. The wait for the food wasn't very long, about 5-8 minutes and they brought the order to the table. I really enjoyed the burger and fries making this NOT just another burger spot but MTTBS = Must try this burger spot!

Saw this burger joint every time I take the 512 west and thought I'd check it out one of these…read moredays. Went on Monday afternoon as I was on my regular driving route and ordered the crispy chicken burger. It came out looking smashing as they use a complete chicken breast, really juicy and the taste is pretty good other than it was a bit salty. The only gripe I had was the shoestring fries, I would have much preferred fresh straight cut fries.
