Finally braved the line and tried Bear's Cup (usually we eat at Sunrise Cafe across the street). Given that the lines are long I'd say you can find pretty comparable things across the street at Sunrise, like ice coffee and lattes, pastries and egg sandwiches. The coffee here is a bit fancier though, that's all. But the real difference is the bagels. Bear's Cup is serving up a thick and fluffy New York style bagel. I'm not sure if you can find that anywhere else in Bolton. When my kids want a bagel and CC for breakfast it definitely makes sense to come here over Sunrise! read more

Everything was delicious. We wanted to try many things so we went with the family pack of pastries. I wish we could have picked what went the box. I prefer sweet pastries so I didn't care for the savory ones, but others would have probably enjoyed. The bagels were great even without a spread. Their regular black coffee was just OK. Omg, a sin I haven't reviewed this place yet. We've come here 3 summers now and luckily discovered this to-go spot early on. We use it as a quick and less pricey bfast option when we're staying at the Sagamore. You need to get there before it even opens (8am) if you want a decent spot in line otherwise you're probably waiting awhile depending when you get there. I loveeee the bacon or sausage egg & cheese on a bagel or just bagel + butter. They have had some mix-ups at times but they are usually forgiving for them if you mention it (i.e. sesame rather than everything bagel). The pastries are all fantastic but you MUST get the BEAR CLAW!!!- chocolate almond crissont. I dream of this thing until I finally return in the summer and we make sure we always have one extra in the fridge while there lol. Besides little mix-ups and the wait, only other negative I can think of is it would be nice if they had some tables there rather than just to-go. Ok ending this review by repeating.... BEAR CLAW!!!!! The Bear Cup Bakehouse in Bolton's Landing is a coffee / breakfast takeout window serving strong coffee, NYC style bagels and outstanding pastries. We picked up the bear claw, cinnamon rolls and coffee cake muffin alongside coffee for breakfast and were not disappointed. This place could really use some better signage. If you've never been here before, it's not immediately clear that you order at the window and can eat inside the pizza parlor two doors down. They did mention that there was some construction going on (July 2025), so maybe the situation is different normally. We had an iced coffee and a banana cream cold brew. The banana cream cold brew was too sweet for my taste, but it was delicious. I thought the iced coffee was good. We both had "the 201" (which is pork roll, egg, and cheese) one on a roll and one on an everything bagel. +1 for having pork roll this far north and outside of New Jersey. The everything bagel was absolutely slammed with everything bagel seasoning. It was a good bagel for the area but not quite up to perfect NJ/NYC bagels (it was a little too airy). If you are not a bagel snob this is a great bagel. I had an almond croissant as well. It was very big but the layers had really separated so it didn't have the flakiness you'd like from a croissant. Prices are high, but the entire town is basically "resort captive" and almost all of the businesses rely on seasonal vacationers to survive so...support local small businesses! read more

Wasn't sure what time it opened, walked and got there around 7:40, and there was a line for when it opened at 8. Got two pastry's the bear claw and a special- maple ham and Greer Croissant. Prices were kinda crazy- the bear claw was $11. And the special most of been around 10 cause in total it was like $22.50. The croissant was good, the fillings were great. The bear claw was disappointing because it was filled with chocolate chip cookie and you couldn't taste the flaky bear claw cause it was strongly overpowered by cookie which made it too decadent and super heavy. Downside for a coffee and breakfast spot, they don't open until 8. When visiting Bolton Landing I was there for a conference so had to be in session typically by 8 but was walking by before 7 and between 7-8. Northern Lake George area that is more outside of the chaos of the downtown. You can order at their outside window or eat inside and try their brunch. They also have a pizza restaurant that opens later in the day. We ordered breakfast from their outside window. They are expensive, for 2 pastries, a breakfast sandwich and 1 coffee we spent $50. The bearclaw pastry was large and tasty, the lemon blueberry scone lacked the hype. Their breakfast sandwich on their bagels were fresh and very cheesy. Another party in our group ordered the cinnamon bun which was actually more a ball of fried dough rolled in cinnamon sugar than a cinnamon bun and it was really small and a disappointment. read more

First time at Lake George left a bad taste in my mouth. After waiting on the street for them to pass our order through a window, we took our "The Bolton" sandwiches to eat on our boat for lunch. When we unwrapped them we found the least amount of turkey you could legally put on a sandwich and still call it a turkey sandwich (see picture)! To add insult to injury when I reviewed the receipt that was emailed to me I noticed that the price was higher than as stated on their website and I was surprised that I was upcharged for having it on bread. $18 a sandwich was way too much to pay for this interpretation of a turkey sandwich. read more

Food is not particular good in this area. This place IS good. When were there it was strictly takeout from a window as it was the end of the season and they were only open on weekends. They could really do a better job of explaining their hours on their sign as they were open the entire weekend and we would have loved to know that. We only git to go once which was a shame because they make great coffee. They make great breakfast sandwiches. And they make a non-traditional BEARCLAW stuffed with really good dark chocolate that is not to be missed. If I'm back in the area I definitely would eat here again and likely more than once. read more

I haven't given a 2 star review in awhile. The bear claw alone is 4 stars. It was great, super buttery and flakey and filled with chocolate. A little greasy on the bottom, but still delicious and I'd come back for that. Everything else was blah down to the service. 2 bagels (1 a BEC, the other lox with cream cheese, a bear claw, cold brew and chocolate milk was $53!!!) the guy taking orders didn't even look at me while I was ordering. Bizarre. They accept cash, but don't give you back change. *side eye* I asked for a sesame bagel and got a plain bagel. Cream cheese wasn't spread out. Lox was good. Bagels were on the smaller side and were just ok. (I'm comparing these to Long Island bagels.) The BEC was cold, cheese wasn't melted. I grew up in a little town just north of Boston and there was a little place that I thought had the best bagels in the world till I tried the ones at bear's cup. Saw all the great reviews and had to check it out. We arrived at 8 am as it opened. Orders were promptly taken and not a long wait for food to come out. We each had a breakfast sandwich. I had an everything bagel with egg and cheese. The bagel was chewy and flavorful. The coffee (Americano) was well brewed. My husband ordered his on a croissant and enjoyed it as well. Just a delightful find up in Bolton, a unique little coffee shop offering both high quality coffee and food options. On my first visit, I had a dark roast peaberry coffee that was simply excellent, and my mom enjoyed her light roast. I had a cortado later in the week that was also excellent. As much as I love a place that serves you up quality coffee, I was incredibly impressed--perhaps even more so--with their food. Their avocado smash--served with sliced cherry tomatoes, pickled red onion, red pepper flakes and drizzled with olive oil--was exceeded on how delicious it was only by how beautifully it was put together. Bagels are well made, as are their delicious muffins--I had a cocoa pecan banana one that was delicious. Cute place to hang inside, and with free wi-fi. Wish they had a bit more space in fact, but what can you do. Prices seem relatively reasonable--well, reasonable to someone who is visiting from the city; I suppose they are more city prices than upstate prices, but the quality seems to warrant it, I'd say. Aside from the $5 price tag on the muffins, which--while they are quite good--is more than I pay for them in the goddamn city. read more
