This review is older - please keep that in mind. We haven't been back since this experience. We went in for dinner and my wife ordered breakfast items. The two staff members, both teenagers, barely paid attention. We watched our food sit under the heat lamp by the kitchen for 20 minutes before one of them brought us our food. One of them carried on a long conversation with another table as they knew them, and ignored all other tables, including ours. The other just played on their phone by the counter and didn't do anything until they decided to bring my wifes food out. They had brought me mine as soon as it was ready, so I'm not sure what was going on here. This soured our overall feelings on the establishment, and we've not been back since. I have traveling across country, starting in California and out of all the places I have stopped to eat this is the only place that served excellent tasting food and it came out hot and just the way I ordered it! The staff was amazing, I wish all the places I have eaten were this amazing!!!!!!!! And the prices were unbelievable for the outstanding food that they serve!!!!! read more

Very fast food that is made to order and friendly service. The food (fish and fries) were tasty and a little too salty for my liking but was good nonetheless. Had the following: *Single stack blueberry pancake: Oooo this was good! Large blueberries, light crisp on the pancake (like Cracker Barrel). Wish it was a little fluffier, on the thin side, but the taste was spot on! *French toast: Thick and tasty! *Hash brown: Crispy like how I like it! *Eggs over easy: Good job! *Biscuits and gravy: Biscuits are fluffy. The gravy need a bit more salt and pepper but I prefer it that way so I can adjust accordingly. A bit thick, but wasn't gloppy. *Cinnamon roll: If Shaq was holding this, it wouldn't look small in his hands. This is HUUUGE! The regular size take out containers, well one filled the entire contianer. A bit too much frosting, so if you can ask for less, or have it on the side. The roll itself was REALLY GOOD! *Coffee: Do you want a smooth cup of coffee with a M-A-J-O-R kick? This IS it! This give Vietnamese coffee a run for the money, regarding strength. I definitely would order everything again Service was really friendly and prompt. The prices are more than reasonable and the portions are large!! If you haven't tried this place you should!!! I'm giving this place 5 stars because I can't believe it's inside a gas station. And shout-out to Kyra (waitress/mgr) for the excellent service. Bear's is known for their Friday fish fry's (2pc cod dinner with mac and cheese). However, mostly everything on the menu is good. Would also recommend trying their Breakfast Side: Gigantic Grilled Cinnamon Roll Also try the Bear Bowl, and the Butterfly Shrimp. Bonus points if, while in Perry, you can find the hidden Wat Dhammasala Forest Monastery (Buddhist), about 10mins SW of Bear's. Ready......GO! read more

I every one and a while come here to get fish and it is so good and a burger and fry's they all are so good I would recommend it

Portions were generous, good was good. Hash browns were crispy and the omelette was tasty with a generous amount of cheese. The grilled cinnamon roll was huge but delicious. It had way more icing than I like but after scraping some off it was very good. Service was prompt and helpful. read more

Just came put of Canada and needed fuel. So we pulled into the Perry Sunoco here. Got fuel and shower coupon for tomorrow. Then we decided to stop for the nite. Thank god! We went in to check out this nice little Restaurant. It was really good. Wandered in at 08:30 pm. I ordered fish with Mac n cheese which was pretty good! And Bf had meatloaf , baked potato and green beans. Our waitress was awesome and cook with salad was good. I took leftovers. Oh and we split key lime pie. Sorry ate that before pix lol. See ya in morning! Back in this morning. We r truly being lazy today. No rush to get to SLC, UT. So glad we can in For breakfast. We chatted up the owner a younger gal with her husband. They have owned it for 13 yrs. All young waitresses here too. Nice! This is truley a find for us. When we go thru Sarnia border crossing this is a pretty big truck stop WITH a restaurant. Tried the fried cod with baked potato and slaw. The fish was a beer batter, obviously frozen, and the potato a leftover from days gone by. The best part of the meal was the slaw that floated in liquid. I would highly suggest taking the fish off the menu if that's the best that can be done and adding potato skins to it. At least a leftover potato that's fried and stuffed with bacon and cheese covers up the fact that it was over baked to begin with. If I ever go back I will do the smart thing and order the special. read more

Honestly, I was skeptical of the food as this diner is located sort of inside of a gas station but I really didn't need to be. My boyfriend and I both got the Bears bowl and LOVED it. Its basically like a KFC famous bowl but with chicken strips which we preferred. The chicken was very good. We went again 2 days later and got the same thing! The only down side i would say is the side salad that comes with it. The lettuce was kind of browned both times and the only other ingredient was cheese. Not that that is bad, but just a small downside. read more

Giving this a 5 based on its location and the other places in the area. It is by far the best thing in this tiny little town. It just so happens to be half way between Grand Rapids and my home town of Port Huron. My mom and I meet here for lunch on occasion and like to joke about it since we're Perrys meeting up in Perry to chow at the Perry diner! The coffee is good, but they won't sell us a Perry Diner mug and we really want one!! The deserts are frickin amazing! So delicious! Not to mention this is probably some of the best fried cod in Michigan... Definitely makes my list of top 5 fried cod I've had in Michigan - so that's pretty impressive! Also, when connecting to the wifi a network called TARDIS was there... I geeked hard. But it since moved on. So if the doctor is visiting you know it has to be at least interesting!!! ;) read more

Kinda disappointed this visit. My server wasn't on the ball tonight. I received a fork with my salad, and that was it. Never got any other utensils to eat with, was not provided a napkin. I asked about a military discount when my food was served. I was told they provide a discount. It wasn't until I had already left that I noticed my receipt showed no discount was given. The wait staff were fantastic and fast!!! We had the 2 piece cod with Mac and cheese and FF. My husband said M&C was great!!! The fries were not crispy enough for me (but he ate them ). I went here for 3 years and never had one problem with my food or service. One visit on 6/4/17 changed that. Green chicken. 11 French fries with my $10 burger. In my 44 years have never had such a rude and nasty waitress. They didnt know when a manager would be working. They didnt know the phone number to the restaurant. When I left I was crying in front of the entire restaurant. I was embarrassed and insulted. The waitress just took my signed debit card receipt and walked away. When I wrote a review to their fb page, they blocked me from commenting anymore. They just changed management and ownership awhile ago. I won't go back ever again, unless ownership changes. The owners mother told us she has top notch wait staff and "what do you want me to do? All we can offer is apologies." read more

Good place to stop and eat when cruising 69. The service was pretty good, wish they would have had a soup like chicken noodle/chicken dumpling/ or chicken and rice though. Carpeted: carpet needs cleaning, that stood out immediately when I entered. Dining area wasn't dirty but it's not very clean either, probably from rush of customers, they were busy. One waitress working and she's doing a good job keeping up, she's very friendly and kind. I only ordered fries, establishment isn't vegan friendly, however food being served to other customers look tasty. Service was quick. Nice little place off the interstate. If they replace carpet with a different type of floor that would give a better appearance, brighter and cleaner. I'll come back again and order fries, vegan diet, eh. Great place for breakfast if you're in the area! A clean little area in the back of the truck stop that comes with friendly service. I had the farmers omelet with an order of biscuits and sausage gravy to taste (a must when we go out to eat), everything was good although I've had better sausage gravy, the biscuits were amazing! My husband enjoyed his coffee and steak omelet (and the biscuits and sausage gravy with me). We'll definitely stop again if we're in the area! read more

My second visit here. Usually stop on way home from visiting my Mom. This morning had Hash browns (homemade) poached eggs and Rye bread. Coffee was very good which is critical for me. (They serve Paramount Coffee). Service was excellent. Asked for a refill on my coffee and one waitress was bringing me a full fresh clean cup while the other was refilling my cup! Don't remember details of a previous visit but it seems it was soup and sandwich and very good also. Rye toast had a coconut tasting spread which I really liked. read more

Stopped in for a burger ordered a 1/2 pound mushroom swiss and fries with a diet pop, I recieved a 1/4 pound an honest mistake and i didnt say anything about the mishap i was hungry and needed to eat; but anyway the burger was good but small and the fries well it looked like a 1/2 order at over 12.00 dollars i wasnt impressed left still hungry and $14.17 less in my pocket, i did leave the waitress a 2 dollar tip she was working by herself and it wasnt her fault what the management does..... ive been going there for years but not so much since the COVID started. This home town diner located in a gas station is amazing. The homemade cuisine, especially the desserts are none like I've ever had except from my Mother's kitchen. They're flexible on their substitutions and will do a grill order whenever you ask. One word describes this little gem...delicious. The wait staff and cooks are first class. Stopped there tonight and ordered the lasagna special. The wait staff are very nice and the atmosphere seems ok. The coffee was very good and the staff kept it full for me. The food came and after a few bites I knew I made a HUGE mistake. Lasagna is supposed to be made in layers and baked together so the flavors all marry together and it is solid. The meal I had tonight was some ground beef concoction poured over some pre-cooked pasta layers with minimal sauce. It even has like a grease layer around the edge from the ground beef that was not drained properly. Obviously this meal never saw an oven. Just a thrown together pile of CRAP! Then I see a sign near the entrance that asks for a review on yelp. I am usually not a complainer but my meal tonight was the worst. So here you go Mr. Cook with the hat on. My meal completely SUCKED! Will not be back. read more
