They USED to have the best shakes and because they're not right on the main strip you could get one without a crazy long wait. They were bought by fast stop last summer and now it's too expensive to use actual mix ins so now everything (except for the raspberry) is a SYRUP. Even the peanut butter is a peanut butter flavored syrup. Shakes are terrible and soupy now. We ended up buying packages of Oreos and Reese's cups for them to put in our shakes (which the cashier said we could do). Bummer to lose them as a good place for shakes! read more

We read that the raspberry shakes here are the best in town so we decided to find out. First you order by getting in line for the main gas station cashier. No signs for shake pricing or anything but a shake flavor sign at the register. It was busy and we expected a little wait. Once we ordered we stood back to observe the shake making...but no one was making shakes. Finally with a stack of shake orders and at least 20-30 people ahead of us - someone started making shakes. In the first 20 minutes only 4 shakes were put out. In the actual shake making of the night we observed little to no sanitary processes being followed - the man making shakes went back and forth several times to the cash register and then back to making shakes without any hand washing, we watched him use his hands to catch excess ice cream that flipped on the side when he was scooping, and a milkshake machine that appeared to have never been clean during the day - if not longer along with other items that visibly needed a serious deep clean. After watching this and calculating the average time for each shake to be made (we estimated we'd be there well over an hour beyond the 30 minutes we'd already been waiting. So we got back in line and asked the cashier for a refund and were refused. She said the manager quit and they didn't have a code, refused a cash refund as well as had no options for us. Lucky for us - someone in line saw their shake opportunity and bought our shakes paying us via Venmo. Were they the best raspberry shakes in the valley - don't know and after watching the workers and lack of sanitary conditions... I definitely don't want to know. We won't be back. read more

The shakes are the best. And they're open year round, which seems to be quite unique for Garden City.

Pros: The shakes didn't suck. The employees weren't complete assholes. Cons: The bathrooms were gross. No soap in the women's and only a tiny trash can in the stall. My husband also reported no soap in the men's and no trash can at all. They have signs that say, "Please leave the bathrooms how you would want to find them." I mean, I understand wanting customers not to trash the restrooms, but they can't rely on that. They need people to be checking and restocking and cleaning the bathrooms. Flies everywhere. We counted literally dozens of flies buzzing around, not only in the bathrooms but in the food service area. The place was too hot. And I usually prefer warmer temps. Like I'll keep my house at 75 no problem, and I was too hot. They had the door propped open (which of course contributed to the fly problem), so maybe the AC was broken or something. We waited at LEAST 30 minutes (conservative estimate) for two chocolate shakes. And it wasn't terribly busy. I swear they were taking at least five minutes per order. I also overheard that someone else who was waiting got skipped, so they had to wait EVEN LONGER than the already-horrendous wait. Don't expect fast food-style service. Expect to wait if you still want to come here to get shakes for some reason. There were no napkins at our table and no indication that the employees were planning on checking/refilling them. And, finally, they charge WAY TOO MUCH for a freaking shake. You'd think that if they're charging SIX AND A HALF DOLLARS (yes, $6.49 to be exact) for a 12 oz. shake, they could afford to fix the AC and hire people who would clean the bathrooms and restock the napkins...just sayin. read more

For the win! My family tasted all the shake places in Bear lake in one weekend and this is still the best place. Hand scooped ice cream, lots of raspberries and they even give you the leftovers in a cup on the side. Bonus....cheapest milkshake out of all the places too!! This is our favorite place! Shake (pun intended) your franchise/national chain notions and ideas of shakes. NO soft-serve here. Hand-scooped ice cream, vanilla of course, with the flavor of your choice added. Fruits are fresh local grow, malt (!) is available on request. One size only, sir. We ordered a chocolate malt (I could not resist the memories of my youth in the '50s when every shake was hand-scooped), a raspberry shake, and a strawberry shake. Thank goodness we also bought a couple bottles of water. These ice cold creamy milk/egg/sugar/vanilla/flavors-added concoctions were to die for. Certainly the best I have enjoyed since Farrell's Old Fashioned crashed following a short revival. If you are in Bear Lake, DO visit the "Shake Place inside the Chevron Station". The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. The milk shake I ordered ended up being 2/3 vanilla ice cream and when I asked the manager if there was anything they would do she rolled her eyes and rudely said she wouldn't fix it, remake it or give me any money back. Had she been nice about it I would have understood but she also dropped the f bomb at me. To make matters worse when I asked who her manager was she said her mom. It seems the poor customer service comes from the top. The station was unkempt, our table and booth was wobbly and dirty and all of the employees had the same poor attitude.
