Salmon and ahi poke, guacamole, and clam chowder
    Vivian T.

One of the best poke spots in SoCal! Been going here since I was in high school and it's still amazing. We ordered 1/2 pounds of the salmon and tuna poke, 1/2 pound of the guac and chips, and a small clam chowder. Everything was fantastic and fresh. More than enough to share with 3 people! Staff are very sweet and love their sauces on the side.

I've been looking for the best ahi tuna, and this place might be on top! The marinate the tuna is in is so yummy and it has a little bit of a kick to it! I appreciate the complimentary tortilla chips it's served with. Clam chowder was fine, average! We opted for salmon on the burrito we ordered, and it was delicious. So fresh...! Came around 2pm today (Friday) and service was real quick and we were able to get nice seating out in the patio. Beautiful view of Huntington Beach! I see myself coming back :-) Thank you Bear Flag Fish!

Half a pound of salmom. Ask for "poke and chips" really good for $14. The worker who took my order was lovely and enthusiastic. She gave me a little more than half a pound and did not charge extra (they do not skimp). Thanks queen!

I've loved Bear Flag for years! I typically go to their Newport spot but recently tried out the HB location in the Pacific City mall. I got a 1/2 lb to-go order of the tuna poke which came with a free bag of tortilla chips. For the quality of fish, it's not a bad deal. I think the tuna was around $22/lb, my order came out to be $11. The poke marinade has good flavors of chili, sesame oil, and scallions. The line moves quickly, and the workers are very no-nonsense lol. It's a great meal to take to the park for a picnic! Next time, I'd love to eat at the restaurant for the oceanside view :)

Ordered an Ahi Poke bowl on a Saturday night. The restaurant was pretty busy but I liked that you could fill out a form and hand it off to the cash register for easy ordering if you're doing poke. Food came out in about 5 minutes or so. The poke bowl itself was solid but unspectacular. I thought the fish was pretty fresh but the sauce was lacking in flavor (I got the spicy sauce). They have a good variety of toppings. I thought that while everything was good, the toppings overpowered the Ahi a bit. The restaurant itself was a little tight indoors but has a great patio overlooking PCH and the beach. If you come here for dinner, you can get a great sunset view!

Wasn't my choice to go here because I hate this location but it's super convenient spot for poke by the beach. Anyways, ordered the usually salmon poke and I HATE that they don't weigh the amount in front of you OR fill it up all the way (see photo). And instead they give you a huge tray of their terrible chips. I always feel scammed and there always seems to be people who don't know how to queue. Really annoyed. Tried the ceviche for the first time and at least they fill that up. Super refreshing on a hot, sunny day.

Nice location at Pacific City with a beach view. They offer a good selection of fish options for tacos and burritos. We opted for the salmon and wahoo burritos, a shrimp platter, and a California roll. Overall, the food was good but thought it was a little pricey for what you get, especially the shrimp platter

The fish and shrimp burritos is amazing That is the best thing to get and get salsa too It doesn't need it but it just helps Any time of day I went it was never busy Great location Great staff and great attitude too These guys hit the nail on running a spot Best thing to get in pacific city

You cant go wrong with this place. It's located at the end of a food hall. It's beside a coffee shop and a sports bar. You can have full service if you sit at the bar or the sushi bar. But if you wanted to be more independent.... head to the counter. You can order your poke by answering a sheet... Other than that... The calamari were pretty good not rubbery The mussels and clams were nice cooked with white wine... the bread with it is okay. The fish tacos were nice but a little pricey as it's 6 per. The ceviche were just okay... served with nachos. You could get your own utensils, plates, sauces and also water at the counter. Parking is free for the first 2 hours during weekends and 3 during weekdays. Just need to validate. Paid almost 60 for 4 dishes. 2 tacos, mussels and clams, calamari, and ceviche

Bear Flag Fish is such a fantastic seafood place for fresh fish in a wide variety of dishes. The atmosphere radiates beach pier vibes with a wooden walkway that offers enough space for a long line--and trust me, there almost always is a long line (not great when it's raining or when it's too sunny outside). Service is efficient and there are often a lot of staff around, especially on weekends and high-traffic days. While you shouldn't expect THE most flavorful and zesty dishes, you can't go wrong with fresh, high-quality seafood in many forms. We generally order their specialty burrito with no rice and extra veggies and fish, fried calamari, lollipop roll to share, fish tacos, and large seafood plate with salad, veggies, and white fish or salmon depending on our mood. The sauces are also great to heighten the flavors of the dishes!

My go to is guacamole (comes with tons of chips) and 1/2 pound of ahi tuna. Delicious every time

Love this Bear Flag location. It's super chill and you can basically take your time deciding what you want to order. There are plenty of outdoor seatings to choose from, tables or fireside or bench. Inside it a bit smaller with bar sitting at the bar or the sushi bar, and just counter seatings. We got two draft beer, some tacos, and salmon/ahi poke. They are def pricey but due to the location, it wasn't a surprise. Food quality was good and I love their fish tacos, especially because it's so healthy while being delicious. Their Bear Flag fish taco is panko crust and it's very light panko and tasted like it was also grilled and not deep fried. Their grilled salmon taco is my favorite. Def recommend!

Honestly I used to really like Bear Flag Fish with its Hawaiian style poke by the pound, but over time after coming back and back I realized it was the novelty. While sauce is divine and the fish fresh, I think the way they marinade it can be overwhelmingly salty. I have yet to try their cooked fish but I'm excited to try out other poke spots in the area for raw fish.

I liked the single-serve salmon portions, as well as ready-to-heat-and-eat meals that Amazon Fresh had. Someone recommended that I check out Wild Fork - also on Brookhurst (at Adams) - so off I went! I stopped by on an early Sunday morning - so luckily, the parking lot was practically empty, as was the store. Immediately upon entering I noticed how bright and clean the store was, wide aisles, everything was organized in its own little section. I started off on one corner and just browsed my way through. Nina - one of the store clerks here - chanced upon me and asked if I needed help finding anything. I told her it was my first time - and she took it from there! Extremely friendly, warm and welcoming - she explained the store's color coded system, pointing out the exotic meats section (they have alligator/crocodile here!!), beef - including wagyu, pork, sausages (they literally have two freezer sections of sausage/chorizo), meals/appetizers, and my favorite section - seafood/fish. After I shared with her my sadness over Amazon Fresh closing - especially because I liked their single-serve salmon portions - Nina pointed out their salmon offerings, and mentioned that their salmon portions are also single-serve, flash frozen (so they stay fresh longer) - but showed me how they were individually wrapped within their own packaging. I picked up a few salmon entrees based off Nina's recommendations, and my own tastes. I know a few people have raved about their frozen pasta meals - so I grabbed a few of those boxes too. Checkout was a breeze - Nina helped me at checkout and shared that the store occasionally has BBQs on the weekends. Wild Fork is definitely a new favorite - hoping to come back and check out the other offerings depending on how everything I bought turns out! Awesome service and introduction to a new customer - thanks, Nina!

We stopped by on a Friday before noon, originally just planning to grab some frozen black cod. Haven't tried it yet, but will definitely update this review once we do. This review is actually for the bar seating area, which I believe operates as a separate restaurant under the same owner. You get to taste sushi made from the same fresh seafood being sold in the market. Of course I can't talk about the food without talking about the prices. They have a Happy Hour menu (the green one -- see photos), and when we went, they were also running a BOGO deal on several items and one being black cod $10 for 4 pieces. Such a steal. The slices were on the thinner side, but the quality was still amazing, especially for the price point. Fresh, clean flavors, and you can tell the fish is high quality. I totally wish we could've tried more items, but we had just eaten lunch beforehand. The employees and the owner, I think, was really friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Between the market and the bar, this place is a win. I'll definitely be coming back, both for the fresh fish selection and for a sit down.

That said, the Japanese yam didn't look very fresh this time, so I ended up skipping it and buying it at H Mart instead, even though it was a bit more expensive. Some items were priced about the same as H Mart, like napa cabbage ($0.99/lb), onions ($0.39/lb), and bean sprouts ($0.99 per pack).
