Avoid working with Bear Country Vacation Rentals! God forbid you or your family get sick and you need to change your reservations. You will be told "no" and they will keep your money ... in our case $2800. Wish we had realized what we had committed to when we booked back in October for a New Year Ski Trip. They required full amount within 30-days of arrival, then the property manager was unwilling to work with us after our family came down with COVID over Christmas. VRBO and Air B&B offer larger (~1,000+ sq ft) accommodations with private hot tubs, and modernized ski-in/ski-out locations for the same price if not less which I wish we had done instead of working with Bear Country. We looked at their 10+ yr old videos online and saw just how itty bitty and out dated their accommodations were that average ~550 sq ft with a community hot tub. EW. We booked 3 days of lift tickets, ice-fishing trip, and horse drawn carriage ride and everyone except Bear Country worked with us to reschedule our reservations for the end of Jan 2023. Greed over Customer Service loses every time. We'll never work with Bear Country EVER again and we've shared this with the skiing community in the greater Seattle, BC, Colorado, Texas, California, and everything in-between both family and friends. Only book here if you're really hard up, and pray you don't have an issue showing up, as they will keep your money. AVOID! read more

Bear Country is a rental management company at Sun Peaks Resort with a wide variety of accommodations at different locations. We had a party of four and stayed at Crystal Forest Condos because there was a great promo of 3-for-4-nights. The condo can sleep 8 people, but that would be wayyyy too cramped. 4 was just right. 6 would be manageable I imagine. The place itself is cozy and homely. Wood furnishings. Clean. Well-equipped. It even had a small decorated Christmas tree (how seasonal!) and a fairly large selection of movies on VHS (oh the nostalgia...). I think it's these small touches that make the vacation experience more enjoyable. The hot tub is superb. A small complaint on the bouncey mattress - but perhaps I'm just spoiled. Crystal Forest is about a 10 min. walk to the lifts - a bit far, but not too bad. Overall a great experience and I wouldn't hesitate booking with them again. read more

Reserved a condo in the Trappers Landing complex for two families of four for four nights during spring break 2019. Expensive at about $700 per night, but being familiar with the Sun Peaks area the ski in ski out location and the ability to cook meals balanced out the cost. The property and location are marvelous. Nice condo and amenities, great views and close to lifts. We rented #11 so keep that in mind if you are reading along, looking for a rental, or if you are the actual property owner.......... Upon arrival we entered the unit from the garage and expected to take off our shoes there. But the floor and mats provided were dirty. So by the time we reached the main level we all had dirty socks. Ok, no big deal. But then we started looking around. The cleaning staff had done the quick and dirty clean, so kitchen sink, counters, fridge, furniture and bathrooms were clean. But the wooden window blinds were dusty, the ceiling fan so covered in dust it is starting to drip it off the edges, the top of the fridge and cupboard doors needed wiping down, and the drawer and cupboard pulls were actually sticky. The ceiling fans in bathrooms also gross with dust. We are NOT germaphobes but surely these things could be cleaned monthly. They have not been addressed all season I am sure. Kind of gross. Ok just plain gross. Moving on I can say that we travel a lot. We don't often stay at expensive hotels, we are kind of Holiday Inn types. What makes a decent hotel room? Easy. Good beds. And this place doesn't have them. Mattresses that sag into the middle and are lumpy cant be fixed by just adding a cheap mattress pad. We looked and clearly that was the plan. Just inexcusable. The point is they know and tried to cover rather than solve the issue. Heres the point folks. At about $3k for a four day holiday the place should have been better. Take one person and let them clean for a couple of hours more with a swiffer. Wipe above where you can see. Take about $2k once and replace the mattresses. Result would have been a 5* rating from us. The place is so good, the issues so easy to fix. Wonder if they're listening? read more

Irene in group reservations was friendly, helpful and accessible. Irene informed us about a special "Stay 4 nights / Pay for 3 nights" opportunity at the Kookaburra Lodge, and she also arranged for an extra underground parking space for our group. We heard comments from locals saying that the Kookaburra Lodge was one of the newest and most luxurious properties at Sun Peaks. We certainly enjoyed our rooms, the heated tile in the bathroom, the well stocked kitchen, the heated underground parking, the ski locker on the main floor, and the private hot tub on our deck (with a view of a snow covered forest).
