Kinda amazing in a town of 900 in Montana in the shadow of its better known cousins (Bozeman and…read moreWest Yellowstone), Ennis Montana is home to The Continental Divide restaurant. Our meal tonight was pretty much perfect. The restaurant set back off 287 just in front of the Ennis RV Resort. Understated interior with big windows looking out on the Madison range. Not many tables so a reservation likely a good idea. Paced our service, no one rushing us. Our reservation was for 6:30 and we left around 9:30. Wonderful, seasonal menu, that proudly presents both Wagyu and Montana beef at its finest. Had a hard time making choices as there's so many items on the menu, I'd love to try. I did pass on the oysters that are flown in every day. But that was very tempting. I ended up going with the golden beet salad, which was outstanding with a raspberry vinaigrette. For my main course I couldn't help but go for the elk loin, two beautifully cooked rib on loins medium rare. Incredibly tasty and tender. For dessert we sampled the lemon cake and the flourless chocolate tart, both mouthwatering. There's a really nice wine selection that offers both by-the-glass and bottles. Amazingly found a 2017 Heitz Cellars Marthas Vineyard cab that paired up stunning with our elk and filet mignon. Entrees included tender but crisp asparagas and wonderful spaghetti squash. The food was ethereal, and the service was wonderful, always there butt not intrusive. I'm a huge fan of this place after just one visit, and trying to come up with excuses to come back.

The chef's came to everyone's table to discuss the menu and presentation of the gorgeous dishes. The lavender honey butter with the fresh bread was unique but so good. The menu changes often , so be sure to try all the unique fresh dishes.

There is a bar side and a restaurant side. Service has always been attentive and friendly. There is also a casino inside with fun games. Perfect place to hangout after a long day of fishing. Lodging- 2 stars. We used to stay in the cute cabins until about 3 years ago. Everything on the inside is outdated. It didn't feel clean. The bathroom was mildewed and smelled . I hope they choose to remodel the inside of the cabins because they do look cute from outside. But the inside does leave a lot to be desired. So we no longer stay there, but we eat almost all meals there because they are the bomb. I think management hasn't redone the rooms because there is not a whole lot of selection of where you can stay here and everything fills up very quickly, regardless of the quality because it is a smaller town. And now with the new Madison TV show I'm sure more people will be coming out, and there will be even less places to stay.

Even the fish and chips are no longer on the menu???? Clearly the new management has chosen to make this just your average diner, with a below average menu. Why they put mussels on the appetizer menu is mind boggling. Really? Mussels in Ennis? Scary. Abby did a formidable job trying to keep up. She and only one other waiter were frantically running around, while the manager stood around watching for the most part. Next time we will go into town, where the G-bar and the Longbranch Saloon have a more diverse menu and better staffed. Not to mention Burnt Tree Pizza!
