They sell specialty foods - I like specialty foods! They sell NYS products - I like to patronize those businesses. They sell cocktail making items - I LOVE cocktails. So I made the overdue visit. Compared to other specialty stores, this one is a bit smaller in inventory, but extremely well organized and varied. There was enough of everything in each area of merchandise for me to emit a few "Ooh's and Aah's. There's quite a few items I can see myself purchasing over the next holidays for friends and relatives with more challenging Christmas list to fill. I had a very pleasant chat with the owner of the store too. Shopping here was an overall enjoyable experience.

We…read moreordered our sandwiches in advance which was so smart because there was a long line at the deli counter and my bag of sandwiches was waiting for me. Wow were they delicious! I had the Garden of Vegan which was stuffed with flavorful veggies and a chickpea/Kale spread that was so good I want to see if I can buy it by the container! My husband and son enjoyed The Bird (a grilled chicken hoagie) and my SIL had the My Way (fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula, and balsamic reduction on a baguette) and she was able to restrain herself to only eating half because she wanted to enjoy it again the next day! I picked up some Tates cookies and bananas to round out the meal and I have to say this was so incredibly enjoyable! We have rarely gone to Guidos in the past however recently I went to see if I could pick up a Berkshire food item to bring as a hostess gift and the person who helped me was incredibly knowledgable and went out of her way to find what I was looking for. The checkout people are so nice and friendly. The only two drawbacks and what is making this a four star rating rather than a five: the prices ($$$$$) and the crowded parking lot.

Talbott & Arding was chosen as our first stop on our girls' getaway journey. Tucked in the Hudson Valley, just an hour from the Berkshires, it was a sweetly energetic beginning to our day. We each chose a sandwich from the counter. My smoked salmon on focaccia was a delight. The bread, airy and light, beautifully happy yeast just bounding with lift, defying the constraints of olive oil which left my fingers gloriously glistening. I haven't had a focaccia as happy as that in a minute. Super thin radish, bright pickled shallot and fresh watercress all gave a nice vibrant touch. Ben's cream cheese couldn't possibly be creamier. And the delicate, silky, fresh, luxurious salmon... What a dream. So balanced. I filled my arms with goods- iberico salami, Aleppo chili oil, Blackstrap coffee beans, local chocolates, and an adorable Talbott & Arding puzzle. I'm sure I could have easily convinced myself to buy just about everything I laid my eyes upon. The cheese counter was an absolute work of art. It's clear that Talbott & Arding is a willing servant to the gifts of the surrounding earth and people. The homage it pays is palpable. Our stop at Talbott & Arding set the tone for an intentional, peaceful, vibrant, cozy, delicious, connected trip. I'll be back immediately.

Was looking to buy a kielbasa, but was specifically looking for one stuffed krajana style (Polish for chunky), not ground meat style. They only make the latter. I ended up with frozen packages (frozen, due to the long drive home) of Italian sweet sausage, Italian hot sausage, and bratwurst. Each priced at $10.49 / lb. For me, a bit steep. DD got breakfast sausage. Also, what seemed to be a side of beef. It was very heavy carrying it to my vehicle. He, who wears a Rolex watch (and drives a Lincoln!) also thought the prices were steep. He rated them 3 star, which is to be expected. He has, in fact, earned his reputation as Demanding Dan. If I lived a bit closer, would be interested in trying a few other things. And fresh, not frozen. Update - next day. I had one each of the hot and sweet Italian sausage. Very, very good. Nicely spiced, seems like lower fat content than store-bought. Still pricey, though, and no fennel seeds!?!?

It is very expensive, and the taste remains to be seen, but I have a feeling it will live up to its perceived expectation. It's also a good way to support a local family run business. Check it out! Because now, I realize how lacking all other dairy products are. Seriously. We purchased milk from High Lawn during our stay at a local long-term let with a full kitchen. We brought home milk and ice cream. When that ran out and we returned to our regular 'store bought' milk, I was like 'what am I drinking?' You don't know how good High Lawn Farms milk is, until you don't have it any more. If I lived near here, this is the only place I would get my dairy. Now, the ice cream! So, so, so good! It's not overly sweet. The flavor is just right. Again, not over done. It's 'light'. I don't know how to explain it. I got two scoops and when I saw how much ice cream that was I thought I'd 'never be able to eat all that.' But the ice cream texture is light, not heavy. It's still creamy, but not in the same way as my local farm made ice cream is made. It's light and those two scoops were just the right amount. The store offers more than milk and ice cream by the pint. They also sell a selection of High Lawn farm cheeses and frozen cuts of beef among other things. Besides the store and the ice cream trailer, you can visit the cows and calves in the barn. There are also older calves in the field by the ice cream trailer that you can pet. They come right up to the fence looking for pets. Anyway, you can see I am a fan of High Lawn Farm. Go. Don't think about it. Go. Get the ice cream. Get the milk. Compare it to your 'regular' dairy. You'll understand.
