The young couple working today is really pleasant and greets every customer that came in, including me. The menu is hand written on a chalkboard that takes you back to a time and place before cellphones and the internet. I wouldn't call it a country market but it does have a country vibe or feeling to it. I got 4 sandwiches, I'll post pictures of them later but let's just say, I've had them before, I didn't post them but they're were amazing. I don't suppose you'll find yourself in Stockbridge or West Stockbridge Massachusetts anytime soon but if you are, you owe it to yourself to stop in, say, "Hello" and grab something to eat.

I have officially made three trips this week :-) They also have the most fabulous juice options! Earlier this week, I chose the ginger lemonade. Very heavy with natural ginger and I love it. It's very tasty by itself, but be ready for that kick of ginger. I happen to really love ginger and know how good it is for me, so I went back and got more. I have, but it's not really a convenient stopping place on my journeys normally. However, on a recent trip I was in desperate need of a little pick me up coffee to get me all the way home, and B3 was right there, so I figured, what the hey. Now normally I love the idiosyncratic truck stop. This one would almost qualify, although there's no hiya hon diner attached, there is a "gift/trucking supply" store that has a whole bunch of hunting stuff, truck supplies, toys for your stereotypical alpha male hillbilly, and novelties ranging from the fake DEA hats to the oxymoronic "Meth Cooking License" (right there next to the Second Amendment permits and reproductions of Elvis' Driver's License.) But you know what? It's 2015. They're selling confederate flag crap here. "Yankee By Birth, Rebel By Choice" pins and hats with the stars and bars on it. To which I say: go to hell. Thousands of sons of the towns around this area died in 1861-65 fighting the Confederates. You may not find this review useful or cool, and that's OK by me, but for God's sake don't mark this review as "funny" because IT'S NOT FUNNY ANYMORE.

Also, running a loop of ads on the pumps is obnoxious, that's when I stopped getting gas there. 1-won't use the deli any longer. Don't trust the prepackaged deli because to many times the slices are to thick. I started getting my deli cut fresh, but sometimes didn't work out well. I asked for cheese sliced at 1 1/2 and when got home and it wasn't even close, other times the deli person showed me the slice which was ok. but after a few days the slices got bigger as I went through the pound of ham I ordered. 2- milk spoils even when the code has 7 days left ( I live less than 10 minutes from the store. 3- had to return boneless chicken twice in a matter of weeks because it was like rubber. 4- fill in holes with products that don't match the signs..ditto for blocking products in the aisles 5-some signs are deceiving, 1 sign looked like $2.99 but was actually $12.99, the 1 on 12.99 was in a dark blue border. 6-in the process of finding another pharmacy. Went to get a flue shot last year an there was no one in line but had to make an appointment ( went to website and only could get directions ). The pharmacy is closed 7- I am also annoyed by the robotic floor cleaner.

Once we were in the store I almost forgot about the postcard because of all the great local produce they had. I snagged some peaches and apples and they were delicious and fresh. They have a ton of great options here including a lot of local options. If you're looking to make a charcuterie plate or have some snacks for guests this is a great place to visit. The staff is great and they were super helpful and they ended up having the perfect little postcard with a great drawing of the general store itself on it! I'm glad we stopped here before heading home.

The Co-op has its issues, as any small business will, BUT it is so authentically and sincerely committed to providing local, wholesome food at a price they can afford to sell it at, that I absolutely cannot fault them, and will buy from them whenever I can. I do think they sometimes mis-price items, but they're working on it. (I should point out that this can go both ways -- high or low. I tell them whenever I think something seems really out of whack.) The problem is that they're competing against behemoths like Price Chopper who can negotiate lower prices with producers and wholesalers -- and then, when they drive places like the Co-op out of business, offer us whatever they like AND price it however they like....
