Perfect place to go to get gourmet sandwiches and treats on the way to a concert at Tanglewood! We…read moreordered our sandwiches in advance which was so smart because there was a long line at the deli counter and my bag of sandwiches was waiting for me. Wow were they delicious! I had the Garden of Vegan which was stuffed with flavorful veggies and a chickpea/Kale spread that was so good I want to see if I can buy it by the container! My husband and son enjoyed The Bird (a grilled chicken hoagie) and my SIL had the My Way (fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula, and balsamic reduction on a baguette) and she was able to restrain herself to only eating half because she wanted to enjoy it again the next day! I picked up some Tates cookies and bananas to round out the meal and I have to say this was so incredibly enjoyable! We have rarely gone to Guidos in the past however recently I went to see if I could pick up a Berkshire food item to bring as a hostess gift and the person who helped me was incredibly knowledgable and went out of her way to find what I was looking for. The checkout people are so nice and friendly. The only two drawbacks and what is making this a four star rating rather than a five: the prices ($$$$$) and the crowded parking lot.

Shout out to Stephentown. I respect what Dave's is trying to be. Aside from packaged grocery items,…read morethey offer produce, meat, fresh sliced deli cuts, baked goods, subs sandwiches, fried chicken and hot meatball subs. There is no other place in the direct vicinity for these types of items. They were busy on the weekend day I was there. People ahead of me were getting deli cuts and cold sandwiches. I got a meatball sub. I just wish the space was cleaner. I wish that there were fewer flying insects. I wish that the food handling had better glove cleanliness and cross-contamination awareness, and also that there wasnt rotten hamburger patties in the meat case the day i was there. I was impressed by the holding temperature for the meatballs and sauce. They were piping hot....Like PIPING for real. The meatballs tasted good and the sauce is good too. They cut the meatballs in half on the subroll and arranged the halves on the bread by gloved hand. The same gloves had touched deli slicers, scales, deli meat, a switch in the side of the oven and many other surfaces while I stood in line. Ive eaten at sketchy places before (too many according to my husband) but my brain was begging me to reconsider my choice this time. However at that point I figured I had already committed to the 6" meatball sub i had ordered. I shouldnt have. Less than 2 hours later it turned into a disaster.

That being said, I've gotten almost immediately sick twice now from eating chicken breast/thigh from here. That was with chicken that had a packed date of the same day and the day prior - and I once saw chicken that was 2 days past the sell by date still sitting out. I eat a fair amount of chicken and haven't had this issue anywhere else and it's concerning for the food handling practices. I also bought frozen pirogies a few weeks ago and got home (a 5 minute drive) and opened them to find them all clumped frozen together in a huge thing of frost - they clearly had not remained frozen at one point. I know it's probably not easy being a small store in a rural area but sadly I will only be stopping in for last minute pantry items if needed - I won't be buying fresh food anymore - food poisoning is seriously not fun.

Where do I start! First, I will say it is a cute shop--I prefer to support local businesses but I…read morewill NEVER spend another dime in this rude establishment. The owner/manager has a sourpuss and is never friendly, welcoming, nice or asks if customers need any assistance. You can stand there while she is at the register and she will completely ignore you as if you don't exist. I had another worker come help me with my order which took forever to wait for and the manager proceeded to ring me up. I asked for mayo for my cold cuts and she tells me that the mayo packets are only for people who get sandwiches. Really now? I spent $30 on cold cuts and she was resistent on giving me a few packets of mayo which was insane to me. Then it was my aunt's turn--she was purchasing a few items and ordered a sandwich--she went to the first register and they told her it was closed so she proceeded to the second one which I was at and which the owner/manager was ringing me up on. She had a few items to purchase and ordered a sandwich. The owner/manager rang in my aunt and my aunt thought she paid for all of her items and we proceeded to go sit at a table and wait for the sandwich. She brought her items to the table and commented how they didn't give her a bag with her purchase. We thought nothing of it. We then ate, and as we were eating the owner/manager kept walking past us giving my aunt dirty looks and the evil eye. She even had her workers doing the same to us. We couldn't figure out why. So we shopped around and were getting ready to leave, and the owner/manager proceeds to say to us "are you going to pay for that cream in your bag". We were completely taken back. My aunt had no idea she didn't get rung up for the few items and because of the accusations that she was a common thief, she left her items on the counter and told them to basically shove it. How dare they! Instead of the owner saying to us that she made an innocent mistake and didn't ring her up for the few items, she followed her around instead and then accused her of being a thief as if she were a common criminal. My aunt is such a good thief that she was hiding her items on the top of the table!!! The owner had MULTIPLE opportunities to approach us and tell my aunt, I'm sorry Ma'am, but I made a mistake. I didn't ring up those items. Instead, she chose to accuse her!!!! What disgusting behavior from a woman who is in a customer service business. She was rude, disrespectful, condescending and accusatory. Wow, were we shocked! My aunt even said to her, I paid for these items--the owner tells her NO, you didn't--I didn't know those were yours on the counter when I was ringing you up! WELL then whose fault is this---certainly not OURS! What horrible, terrible behavior. And then to be followed and glared and stared at as if she is a thief. This was a HORRID EXPERIENCE!!!! Even with an apology (which the owner owes my Aunt) we will never be back and We would NEVER recommend this business to ANYONE. If you want to be disrespected, then be sure to go to this place and you will face the same fate that we did by Ms. Sourpuss herself. Not even a crack of a smile. Not even a hello and welcome or can I help you with something. Can I offer you any napkins for your food so you don't have to use your sleeve to wipe your mouth. Not even a "sure, you can have a few packets of mayo for your cold cuts which you are sitting eating at the booth and making a "SANDWICH" out of. She did say the packets were only for customers who get sandwiches, am I not CORRECT??? JUST RIDICULOUS! This is the 2nd time we've been there and her staff was just as rude the 1st time. We figured we'd give it one more shot and support a local business, but boy were we wrong to go back. We can tell you this, they will never see another penny out of our pockets. Just remember, god don't like ugly and what comes around goes around. Every dog has their day and this business is for the dogs indeed.
