Bishop's Boats - Part of the seal colony

Boat trips to see the seal colony at Blakeney Point…read more This is a wonderful trip to make for nature lovers who love to see wildlife in their natural habitat. Although there are other companies who do these tours as well, I went with Bishop's Boats as they were running an evening trip at 6.45pm. I phoned to book 4 places and we were given instructions to pick up our tickets from Blakeney Quay, and from there we were directed to the village of Morston, to the marshes there. As we arrived, everyone was wearing welly boots and I had the impression that they all knew something I didn't, but after walking over boarded bridges to Morston Quay, wellies were not essential, but maybe I was just lucky that day! Arriving half an hour early at the landing stage, there were the 2 Bishop's Boats moored abreast into the mud and no sign of sea in sight......I couldn't imagine that there would be enough water to set sail in......but sure enough, it was there when we needed it. The 'skippers/guides' suggested that people with dodgy hips should go into the 2nd boat thereby avoiding the extra climb from one boat to the other. I chose not to take notice and went for the 1st boat and with dodgy knees, it was not the best of ideas, but getting off afterwards was much easier. As we set off, the skipper explained all the safety details, where lifebelts were and not standing on the seats etc. This was soon replaced with information about the wildlife and what to look out for and answering any questions we had. The sea was a bit choppy, so the video I tried to make just makes me feel sea-sick, and as the 'heavens opened up on us', my pictures are not the greatest, but they will give you an idea of how big the seal colony at Blakeney Point is. As we neared the island many seals were swimming about in the water and many more basking in the rain on land. We had a strange pre storm/sunset light in the sky which seemed to compliment the seal colours. The Common Seal is actually rarer than the Grey Seal and we were lucky to see both, it was truly an awesome sight. We were told that when the water is calm, seals will swim right up to the boats. Also, June is a good time for this boat trip as the seals will have all their baby pups with them then. This was a lovely trip despite the weather and one that I hope to do again sometime. It took around an hour and cost £8 per adult and £4 for each child under 14 *One day I saw a seal swimming around the pier in Cromer, a lifeguard had to warn the body boarders as they hadn't noticed and it could have bobbed up anywhere presenting a danger to both beast and man! Can, not, fault. We…read morehired an 8 berth boat for a short break, and it was marvellous. The broads of course were lovely, and I plan to holiday like this again, and I have to say I would book with these guys. You can get yourself early bird discounts, which is a great thing to look out for, and when we had an unfortunate issue when we were trying to cross breydon water (getting stuck on full power, not a silly prank as we first thought, and a little frightening), it was easily fixed, and if I'm right, compensated for after the event since it messed with our travel plans. I'd definitely recommend holidaying on the broads to anyone.

They don't try to rip you off either- the price is always fair. My family went on a trip to Cairo- to see main tourist attractions (museum, boat trip on the river nile, pyramids). We had our own guide who was clearly very intelligent, however information was mostly lost on me. I went more for the sake of going, however it was useful for there to be that information. Throughout the trip we were all very well looked after, and I'd say it was 100% worth the journey of Cairo from Sharm El Sheikh. The trip was very well organised and stress free. I would thoroughly recommend this company, and Aladdin to anybody looking to do any kind of trips or excursions. My grandad enjoyed his time diving with this company as well.

Quad biking & Day trip to Luxor from Hurghada…read more We booked 2 different tours in Hurghada with Sharm Wonders. First one was a private quad safari as a family of 4, 2 adults a teenager and a 9 year old which was absolutely awesome! We were picked up from our hotel in an air conditioned mini bus and were dropped at the start of our trip where we were greeted by Omar. He sat with us, chatted with the children and explained everything. He got us water, sorted our scarves, goggles and helmets for the trip and talked to us about Hurghada safari and the Red sea desert. We had a little photo shoot prior to setting off on our adventure through the desert with our additional guide Khaled who knows the dessert and the terrain so well. We had a little break and a photo half way to our destination. We arrived at the village where Omar came over with water for us, sat us down in the tent provided and chatted with us about the local village and people living there. We drank local tea but opted out of the sheesha, Omar was able to answer all our questions and had lots of banter with the children, his English was excellent. We then had out camel ride and experienced some of the local talents at the supermarket where they were making sand bottles. We headed back through the dessert where our adventure ended... we needed cooling off and lots of water which Omar sorted. We can't recommend this trip enough...We recommend doing it privately as a family instead of a large mixed group with mixed nationalities . Omar was amazing and really looked after us! He is such an asset to the company. Our second was a Day trip to Luxor from Hurghada by road, our driver Hamdy was excellent and our guide Marwa for the day was Aamazing who was a font of knowledge, from start to end there was nothing I could fault with this trip . I would highly recommend using these guys for such this Tours and taking the time out to do this trip even though it's an early start you will be glad you went .Can't recommend Sharm Wonders Tours enough but simply, great trips, fantastic guides and professional service . Thank you Omar, Khaled, Hamy & Marwa for making it an amazing Holiday for our family in Egypt.

Because I didn't want to put other people at risk by going on a boat trip, I informed Scholars Punting Cambridge Limited and asked for a refund, which was promptly denied. So I was put in the position of having to choose between going on a boat trip and possibly infecting the general public, their own staff and other customers or losing the tickets money for doing the right thing. I obviously chose not to go and lost my money. There are plenty of other companies doing the same service in Cambridge. Avoid the Scholars Punting Cambridge Limited like the plague, they clearly don't care about you, their staff or the general public.

Sadly, my first 1 Star...but Keeping with my philosophy I post only raving reviews or ones where I…read morethink a warning is warranted. This is unfortunately the latter...I'd like to give this experience more stars but for me personally I'm writing this to help clarify some expectations that were not met for me. And this review if for my punting experience and nothing against the company. They all operate very much the same way. I booked on line not understanding the actual physical space that you would have. And I am not a small man, I completely fill a seat and need a bit of leg room. These boats are barely over 6 feet wide which means 3 people in a row mean you are literally shoulder to shoulder with your neighbor. It comes down to the actual boats. When you buy a ride on a shared boat, you are next to and facing a total of 6 people including you in your section with 12 total on the boat. It is cramped and super uncomfortable when you are trying to keep your feet in your own space. None of this is clarified on a the website so that is why I'm clarifying it now. Knowing what I know now I would show up and chose a boat that had a different configuration With a different company or buy out more seats on my voyage for comfort. Each company has their own license for so many boats and they pack them in to maximize their fares per ride. I get it, they are a business. But I am a customer and I ponied up the money and ended up not even coming close to what I expected and I don't like throwing money at a poor experience. I did not make a scene and I didn't to flame the company but I think people just need to understand better. So, if you want leg room, buy two seats, or spend up and take a private tour. To be clear the owners and their people were lovely! The pack of tourists as myself self that I was put with were not so lovely, the one across from me inviting me to stretch out my legs out while the one next to me insisting that I pull them in. Can you imagine doing that for 45 mins? I cannot and did not, ending up getting off the boat, so that is why I just need to post a warning to go with the right expectations. My expectations were very disappointingly not met, but yours should absolutely be.

Down the bridge stairs to their shack on the shore. Tom was our guide, he was so knowledgeable and pleasant, had wonderful wit and pretty much answered any question our small group could come up with. The view of the schools and bridges from the water was divine and a must see for visitors, since the city was designed to be traveled into by water. (I would definitely recommend the private tour if you can swing it, but a group would be fine too) He even gave an opportunity to punt at the end. When I come back to Cambridge I am doing this again!!

We are situated on Silver Street bridge underneath the willow trees. A punt is a flat-bottomed boat which does not have a keel, and is propelled by means of a long pole. Punts were introduced as pleasure craft in Edwardian times, since then punting has become one of the most popular ways to see the famous bridges and colleges along the River Cam.
