Has a lot of promise but fails to deliver. Tried to give it a shot at least twice and each time it was awful. Coffee is atrocious. Flavored cheap syrups and just overall terrible tasting coffee. Bagels always look a few days old and breakfast sandwiches are bad. It's like they make everything in a microwave. Was hoping this would be a great little hidden gem of a spot but unfortunately no one in this area knows how to make a bagel. read more

Bean & Bagel is a nice small businesses for coffee and pastries. They are located right off commerce road so whenever you're driving by, it's easy to spot and stop in. They sale all types of bagels and I like that they have the ingredients listed for you. If you never had the jalapeño red pepper, you most definitely need to try! Also, try their cream cheese and cinnamon honey butter. Best latte in my opinion is the brown sugar. It's not too sweet, but it's sweet enough for the flavor. read more

Needed a place for a quick lunch. Parking was easy and it is in a plaza. Inside smelt old, like an old basement. Small set up. No public restroom. A few high top seating and one table with two chairs. Outside has a bench. Sweet treats were being sold too like muffins and cookies. Also some random snacks like chips, jerky, nuts - kind of gas station vibes for like grab and go? Menu wise, lots of coffees. No other drinks. I wanted something without caffeine and the staff told me they really didn't have much. Lots of delicious bagels! So many varieties. From egg, to rainbow, to everything and then literally everything in between. I went with the bagel blt on Asiago cheese along with spicy mayo. They are made fresh to order so it took about 10 minutes or so. The BLT sandwich was absolutely delicious. The bagel was the star and then everything else was great. The spicy mayo was so good and had a great zing to it. The bacon was kind of sparse and seem to be just microwaved bacon. But the romaine lettuce and tomato tasted fresh. Portion wise, it definitely was good enough for lunch, but a little on the small side. Staff was friendly and polite. Will definitely be back for when I'm in a caffeinated mood. read more

We were very excited to find a coffee shop right down the street. We stopped in early on a Saturday morning at did not have any wait. We quickly ordered our coffees and bagels. The had a large variety of different bagels available, and offered a lot of different toppings to choose from. We went with the Nutella & Strawberry Dream, and a Sun Rise bagel which was the classic bacon, egg, and cheese. We also ordered an iced vanilla latte and an iced brown sugar latte. The bagels and toppings were great! The iced lattes were also pretty good. The service was extremely friendly! The only negative we had is that there is extremely limited seating. When we were in there was only one low table with 2 chairs, and then a counter along the front window with stools. We took the one table and pulled up one of the high stools so the 3 of us could sit together. While we were there they were doing a steady carryout business. I would love for there to be more seating options. We typically treat going to get coffee as our social event for the morning. Adding some outdoor seating or benches would go a long way! I hope they continue to see success and are able to expand their seating in the future. If I was walking by I would definitely stop in, but if I were meeting up with friends I may have to look elsewhere to find a shop with more seating. read more

Small family run coffee shop in a strip mall near the intersection of Green lake Road and Commerce road that serves coffee drinks and some food options to include bagels, desserts and some breakfast sandwiches. This is a family run business where the owner was manning the order counter and his son was making the coffee drinks. Both the son and the owner were super friendly and it pains me to give just three stars on this review. Issue in part could have been on me as I asked for a hot latte that was not on the menu that they agreed to make. Unfortunately my latte came across as a hot coffee with some light cream in it and was not what I was expecting. Even though my coffee drink did not turn out the way I expected I will be going back and giving these guys a second chance, this time ordering from the menu! I am a big supporter of local businesses and was to see these guys succeed as it is so nice having a coffee shop so close to my home. read more

Stopped in for some iced coffee. Wanted to support a mom and pop place over Starbucks or some other corporate place. The guy at the counter was super friendly. We chatted while he made my iced brown sugar coffee. His suggestion as a best seller. It's good. I'd definitely recommend it. Place is small but cozy. Has a 2 seat table and a bar with some stools but it's mostly take out. They also have NY bagels and pastries available. I did not try. But coffee is 2 thumbs up. They have a reward program too so if you live close by you can take advantage. Cute place. read more

The bagels were so stale and hard that we couldn't eat them. The one bite we were able to get off the bagel was so dry that it was impossible to swallow. We had to throw the bagels out. Really terrible business practice to sell people bagels that are old and stale. Sorry that this is one business that is a total complete fail. read more

The bagels were amazing, Unfortunately, the lattes were a completely different experience. I watched the drinks being made and saw batch-brewed coffee being used for what was sold as a "latte," rather than espresso. The end result tasted like watered-down iced coffee with milk and was honestly very disappointing, especially when ordering and paying for a latte. The food was great, but I really think the coffee drinks need some improvement. If you're advertising a latte, it should be made with espresso. I'd absolutely come back for the bagels, but I'd skip the lattes unless the preparation changes. read more

So sorry to not give more stars because they were really nice!! I may just have experienced some of their growing pains, so hopefully it's better in the future. I got a breakfast sandwich and it wasn't necessarily bad just very very plain (not a lot of seasoning, cheese unmelted, chewy bacon that definitely wasn't fresh). The bagels come from NY Bagel, so they don't make them in house which I was a little disappointed by. I also got an iced coffee/latte(?) that i wasn't able to finish even after doctoring it at home. It seemed like it should have been a latte with fresh espresso based on the menu but it tasted more like regular coffee that was brewed hot and then put on ice. It was also strangely sour and flavor wasn't great in general. It also took 30 mins to order and get my food and coffee (may have been employees in training that caused this since I came shortly after their grand opening). read more

We did not enjoy our experience here. The girl who took our order had a very negative attitude. We ordered a large iced caramel macchiato and it was very small, not cold, and made incorrectly. It was covered in chocolate and when my partner politely asked about it she was rude and said that's how it's made. Someone behind us actually had the same issue with the same drink and she snapped at them as well. The drink should not contain chocolate it is meant to be made with espresso, cold milk, vanilla syrup, ice, and a distinct outer drizzle of caramel sauce. The bagels were very skimpy on the toppings and nothing special. The ambiance was uncomfortable and the staff acted like the customers were bothering them by being there and they wanted to hurry up and go sit behind the curtain again. For a place that only does coffee and bagels, they did both poorly and charged a lot. Definitely won't be back. (Visit was Aug 22) read more

Everything here is amazing ! Service, food, extras. Definitely worth stopping in if you have a chance. The owner is directly involved in the business and he makes the orders with care. The bagel was fantastic, I got an Egg bagel with honey cinnamon cream cheese. I also picked up a giant cinnamon roll by the owners wife who runs a local bakery "Brunch Babes Bakery". SO GOOD. I also got an iced brown sugar latte with oat milk. It was delicious I would highly recommend. Awesome to support a local maker with the first GREAT bagels I've had in MI! There's also a small seating area with 6 open chair. There's a good ambiance in the space and the World Cup was playing when I stopped in if you like that.
