As sometimes can be the case, finding a place to stay can be tough. This time it was impossible with a swim meet and weddings in town. I stumbled across The Stained Glass Inn while searching the web. Reserved a 3 night stay and hoped for the best. It was perfect. This old historic home is beautiful and decorated with gorgeous antiques. The architecture and history of this town is fascinating. Our host, Chuck, was so accommodating and added to the charm of this endearing small town Americana experience. Sunbury has an actual downtown area with a beautiful park and springtime flowers were everywhere. Dinner at the Chestnut Street Inn was an unexpected surprise. We were welcomed like locals to this casual eatery that served up a downright gourmet meal for $12. The lobster & shrimp cakes dinner was out of this world. What The Stained Glass Inn is not? A fancy, stuffy B&B with everything new and sparkling. It is not large, only 3 rooms. It is not a sleepy town, the train goes through and logging trucks pass by on trips to the mill. It is not a town of quaint little shops to spend too much money on touristy trinkets. It appears to be a town with a struggling economy filled with hard working good people. In a nutshell, we loved it. We will go back in the future. No more hotels for us. Oh, and I forgot to mention one thing. Chuck takes orders for & prepares individual breakfast menus. The accommodations couldn't have been any better if I had made reservations. While I retrieved my bags from the car (I had suspected that I might not be able to make it home that day), Chuck, one of the owners, tidied up my room. Chuck then gave me a tour of the second floor where I would be staying. The decor had a homey but modern sensibility. My room was well-appointed and included a gas fireplace, plenty of towels and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast the following morning was filling and delicious. On leaving, Chuck carried my suitcase to my car. I had to walk across the street to make an appointment and he actually stayed to clean the snow off my car and brought the keys to me when he was done...above and beyond the call of duty! I highly recommend the Stained Glass Inn and plan on staying there more often.

This time we booked and stayed at the LaTorre House Bed and Breakfast (& efficiency apartment) and had a wonderful time. There were 21 of us and we stayed 3 nights. Doreen and her crew (Lacey & Casey) were great! We had wonderful breakfasts, enjoyed s'mores around the campfire as well as how close it was (less than 1/2mile) to Knoebels! Owners Linda and Bill have created a lovely and calming atmosphere throughout this historic home. Classic and uncluttered, all the rooms are spotlessly clean and appointed with comfortable beds and well chosen simple decor. Certainly not the stereotypical lace, floral wallpapered and wall-to-wall dusty antique kind of B&B. Breakfast is always delicious, as are the frequent evening cookies left on the entry table for guests to enjoy at the end if the day. Will continue to make this our home-away-from-home when visiting our Bucknell student.

I had never been to the town before and was pleasantly surprised with all of the little restaurants on the main road in town. The Inn itself was perfect, and clean, and quaint in this magnificent 150 year old building. We stayed in "Grampa's Room" which was wonderful with a very large and comfortable bed, but the best thing was the breakfast which surpassed anything we had ever had at any B&B before. The owner actually made the bread for the scrumptious French Toast served to us in an elegant dining room that I could have stayed in forever.
