I picked up a few plants and a pot but came away with so much more. Come to find out that they do hold events here and when you buy a plant here you can report it in their potting section. So cool. They also have little knickknacks sprawled across the entire shop. It really was such a treat and hard to resist buying a bit of everything. I'll definitely be back for more goodies and this would also be a good place for some holiday gift shopping Parking was easy right in front.

We had a 2-hour time limit to choose our charms (literally the hardest part because they're all so cute), and decorate our item of choice. At the time my friends and I went, they offered phone cases, hair clips/claws, handheld mirror, desk mirror, and jewelry boxes. The staff give you tips on piping the frosting glue with paper plates to practice before you start putting on your charms, which I thought was very helpful as a first timer. All materials are provided so I didn't mind the cost too heavily, since you're paying for the supplies & the experience, also I'm a sucker for cute things. Would definitely return with my friends! We were very excited to participate in the decoden decorating. They had plenty of options including jewelry boxes, claw clips, phone cases, mirrors, and more. The best part? No charm limits here! The staff was very friendly and informative, she guided us through a variety of piping techniques to make sure we were confident with our skills before we got started on our own creations. The entire experience took about 1.5 hours, during which we had a really great time! You also get $5 off if you post about your DIY on your story on IG. If you're feeling a little crafty, make an appointment ASAP! Other than decoden decorating, they also have pouring art, candle making, and squishy-charms making. Parking: There's plenty of meters and there is also a paid parking lot nearby.

It was a pleasant surprise finding Creek Cabin crystal shop located on the Venice Beach boardwalk…read moreinside Gingerbread Court. I've been using crystals for many years, so now I can add this location as convenient shop to explore. There is a large center display with a wide selection of beautiful "pocket" crystals, and endless stones around the shop great for adding to your home or workspace. They sell onyx protection bracelets, which can be difficult to find in many crystal shops. I loved the smudge bundle display with several varieties to choose from along with Palo Santo sticks. The selenite smudge is a great option but since I already have massive selenite logs placed around my home, I chose a beautiful floral smudge bundle. They also sell gorgeous Mexican falsa blankets, perfect for the beach. There was one I really wanted to buy, but I had a mile long walk back to my car and didn't want to carry it. Overall, this is a legit crystal shop, one that I would recommend over the vendor booths along boardwalk because there is no guarantee what you're getting. After all, it's Venice Beach. ; )

In other words, a lot of cool stuff that's hard to categorize as being together under one roof, but all well-worth browsing. It's a different shop than most in the area because it's smaller and often the owner/manager is basically just sitting at his desk working or tinkering. I know some ceramics and jewelry caught the eye of my wife and I was especially interested in a sort of space-age looking stereo receiver in the front window. It was incredibly expensive at many thousands of dollars. Hey, a boy can dream. They also have featured artists on a monthly basis with unique works you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else. Come in just to find something totally unique.

The Best Gift Shop on Abbot Kinney…read more Chariots on Fire is a small store that carries hard to find jewelry, pottery, and unique fragrances, and contemporary ceramics. They have a unique selection of goods that you cannot find anywhere. I do a lot of poetry and visual art, and coming in here almost felt like walking into a modern museum. Every piece of jewelry, home décor or unconventional flower pots seems to have a message that reaches out to you once you catch a second glance. It's not as if you are buying home goods and decorations, but every piece in this store has a story to tell. There is that old saying " You should seek to understand, and then be understood", but at this store its almost a liaison between you and your sense of style. When you buy a piece at Chariots on Fire and place it in your house, people will see it and try understand its meaning; but ultimately they will understand you. Very few stores have had the ability to do this with the merchandise they carry. Chariots on Fire is truly one of the best hidden gems on Abbot Kinney in Venice!

They even had some fabrics that were sold out online, which was such a fun surprise! They do still require masks, but they have free masks inside made from their own fabrics, which I thought was adorable. My mom has been getting into embroidery and learning how to sew, and she loved the community feel here. She's already sad we don't have something like this back home in Vegas Definitely worth visiting if you love fabric, sewing, embroidery, or just cute creative spaces!

Alright, Sewing Arts is my fabric store - my go-to, my happy place, my "I swear I'm only getting…read moreone thing" (lies!) spot. I could not be more thankful that this gem exists AND that it's conveniently close to my main work location. I've quilted on and off since 2008, but when I moved to LA in 2016, my sewing machine and fabric took very, very long naps. When my boss announced she was pregnant, I knew I wanted to make her a baby quilt. After hours of Googling fabrics, I walked into Sewing Arts thinking I knew exactly what I wanted. HA. Jokes on me. In fact, jokes on me every single time I walk in thinking I know what I want. Contrary to some of these other reviews, the ladies at Sewing Arts are some of the kindest, most patient humans I've ever met. Even when I'm standing there overwhelmed by *gestures broadly* literally everything, they're endlessly helpful. Sewing Arts was my introduction to Ruby Star Society, which has since become my absolute favorite modern fabric line. I swear they carry every bolt from every collection (until it sells out). The selection is remarkable! There's also a bountiful selection of patterns, notions, materials (quilting cottons, linen, rayon), cross point kits, etc. etc. And the best part? The community. On my very first visit, Kathleen asked if I knew about the local quilt guild. I didn't at the time but now the Los Angeles Modern Quilt Guild (LAMQG) is what I lovingly call "quilt club," and I look forward to every monthly meeting (held at Sewing Arts!). The guild nights even come with a lovely member discount on fabric... dangerous for my wallet but wonderful for my soul. The only downside for me has been their long-arming service, which I've tried twice with less-than-great results, especially for the price, so I won't be going for a third try. Also, masks are still required, which you'll see mentioned in many reviews but the owners stand firm on the policy and even provide free masks at the door. There are a plethora of classes also available here (garments, quilting, etc.) so whether you are a beginner sewist, an expert, or somewhere in between - there's likely a class for you! All that to say, Sewing Arts has truly given me both inspiration and community. Five stars forever!!!
