Charged me $9 each to dry clean dress shirts that did not require special hand pressing. I called, they argued with me that these shirts required special hand pressing even though they were mostly cotton and no special instructions were on the shirt label. I asked for a refund, they refused. They talked down to me and made me feel stupid and basically told me they could charge me whatever they wanted and I'd have to pay it to get my clothes back. I had alterations done on a man's suit, and one pair of dress pants. Charged a little over $60.00. 4 sweaters, one dress blazer (female garments), Male suit jacket. I was charged a total of $190.00. Never again! Highway robbery plus on white sweater with stains - weren't removed at all. Let's mention this "I left the store without a pair of dress slacks". Received a text message "don't know what the mix up was but we have a pair of slacks." They offered a $20.00 credit not a refund claiming I was mad when I picked up the garments. I was shocked, I've had a lot more placed in the cleaners at Clarks and paid $60 -$70. I will never use their services again and that damn credit to avoid using their services I will sell or give that so called credit to a friend or someone in need. Won't be back. I had my rain coat treated for waterproofing. Called to ask the price ($12), then dropped it off confirming the price ($12). Was told to pay when I picked it up. Upon pick up was told I owed $34. What?!?? I said I was told $12. They replied that it was cleaned also, hence the $34. When I said I didn't want it cleaned, only waterproofed since I brought it in clean, they said it was a "clerical error" and they "assume you want it cleaned when you waterproof." They made me pay $34 for their "clerical error." Maybe next time they should just quote the "real" price to customers. read more

I took an alpaca sweater to have it dry cleaned. The tag said hand wash OR dry clean. I knew it could not be hand washed so I took it to Beacon to be safe. They shrunk the hell out of it and when I spoke to the manager she basically told me it was not their problem. She said they always follow labels and wash items and then dry clean them accordingly. Why the heck would you wash an item and then dry clean it when the tag says do one OR the other, NOT BOTH! Washing this item clearly shrunk the shit out of it. I was clearly not happy but do you think the manager would at least be kind enough to refund me the $16.90 that she charged me to ruin it? I will never come here again. Poor service and extremely poor attitude. Not helpful at all. They didn't even give me a tag when I dropped off clothes and barely cared about my items. Recently moved to the South Hill and dropped off my dry cleaning at the location on Regal. Anyone looking for a dry cleaner, go elsewhere. They don't bother to provide a receipt when dropping off clothing. I asked why and the woman that works there just said this was the way they operate. Sure enough, I go to pickup my clothes and am missing shirts. I was told tough luck and what they had was all there was a record of. Horrible customer service, rude employees, and no accountability. I am going to find another dry cleaner and suggest you do as well. read more

We just moved to town and tried Beacon for the first time. They took suits, ties, and nice dress shirts of my husband's. They didn't give me a receipt which was strange. They lost all of the dress shirts which are valued at over 300 dollars. No remorse, they argued with my husband that the shirts were never there. Just an update on the problem with my son's letter jacket and called the third time today to speak to owner. I called twice before in the last 2 weeks and nothing. I also noticed on the previous review it listed me as being in California which I am not. Judy at Beacon try to tell me again that they are just a middleman and not responsible since they send it off to leather cleaners. Obviously she does not know that in a business the middleman is the one that is responsible since they are the one that accepts the item. I cannot prove how the end business received the jacket. Beacons could have done anything to the jacket and tried to blame it on the end business. I gave it to them, they noted no damage and now want to claim that there was problems when we gave it to them. I spoke to other cleaners and they said that if they notice damage it is noted on the slip they give so that it shows it was received that way. I have filed a BBB complaint also and not heard anything from that either. I will give it one more week to hear from the owner and then take it to court. I do that because Beacon still has my son's jacket and per their note they are not responsible for anything left over 30 days. I will pick the jacket up and then take it to court. I take my king size comforters here because they just won't fit in my washer. It's about a week turnaround and costs me about 35 each...they are nice and fluffed up when I got them back and they even came packed in individual cases (like the ones you buy them in). I took a "dryclean only" skirt in that had silver sequins on it. When I dropped it off, the girl had me sign a waiver "in case the sequins fall off, but they feel like they're on there good". I picked up the skirt today and the sequins are TOTALLY ruined and completely flat from being pressed incorrectly with maybe a combination of chemicals. The two employees were barely apologetic, were shrugging their shoulders and had no explanation. The one was more concerned with pointing out the spot that was on my skirt when I brought it in. I could have hand washed it and then pressed it inside out as should've been done, I'll never be back again! You had ONE job Beacon. read more

BEWARE! Do not take your home goods to Beacon. They put all home goods, drapes, upholstery items etc. regardless if the item says Dry Clean Only into a washer. Took Linen drapes to be Dry Cleaned as manufacture tagged, came back 6 inches shorter and two shades lighter. They claim to be fabric experts! Destroyed $1600. of Pottery Barn drapes. If your item is dirty they make you sign a waiver. Never in a million years would I thought this meant they would WASH Linen drapes! They apologized, but no reimbursement! read more

Will not use this company again. It was suggested to me to wet wash a polished cotton comforter cover. They washed it and hung it up and it came back to me very wrinkled. It is king-size and no one told me that it would not come back to me pressed and ready to put back on the bed. I would have washed it myself in my front loader. I also had a king size down filled comforter washed and it also came back very wrinkled. The price to press the comforter cover would be another $20 or more. Both of them together we're over $70 just to wash. Very disappointing. read more

The owner charged me 3 times the amount of my dry cleaning bill to clean one coat. It had dog hair on it hence the "professional" cleaning job. Had i had known i would've got a damn tape brush for 3 dollars at rite aid. These guys suck a fat you know what. I'd give them minus stars if possible. If you or your loved ones have pets don't go to beacon you'll regret it. 8 dollars regularly or 23 and change if you have a few pet hairs. Just for a cashmere pea coat. I took in a 3/4 length coat to be cleaned. The lady who wrote my ticket told me it would be $17.50 plus tax. As she took my coat she told me she did not realize it had a belt. I told her that yes it did have. Belt. She said "oh well". I left and came back today to pick it up. When I got there the lady who was there this time told me that since there was a belt i was being charged and additional $2.50. I told her the lady who took the coat knew it had a belt and did not tell me there was an additional charge. I was told i had to pay the additional charge. I told them i would not be back. An employee mistakenly filed my clothing under another customers name and refused to give me it back! First they wanted some sort of "proof" they where mine, and then they refused to call the other person and even verify that they had clothing out. It took 5 days of me calling every day, until I finally called the main location for assistance. It took the dry cleaning driver to finally call the other guy and verify that he didn't have any dry cleaning there! When the issue was supposedly resolved, and I went down there to get my clothes, they proceeded to kick me out of the store because I let the other customers know what was happening with my clothing. After everything was said and done (and I had stood outside for about twenty minutes and they realized I wasn't going anywhere), they wanted to charge me for my clothes! So I paid, and I complained, and she had the audacity to say, "Well you can wait until tomorrow and talk to Cathy (the manager)" she was on the phone with Cathy this entire time, and it's not important enough to call her back? I will never use this company again and I advise against it. Everything is great until there is a problem and then good luck getting it resolved! read more
