I'm only giving 2 stars because we had very good service . Was there last night and the food was awful . Corn chowder - added bacon bits , short ribs nachos - totally dry , calamari - no flavor . My dinner was the free range chicken . The entire plate looked like a pile of burned mush . My sons had burgers - just ok .. husband had skirt steak - overpriced for quality , parents had filet mignon and the gulf shrimp . Shrimp dish was edible . The ambiance is good if you like very noisy places . Couldn't hear ourselves speak . It's like a college party place which is ok for that scene . My sons 27 and 32 thought it was obnoxious . Terrible experience. If you are going there to watch sports based that it is a sports bar, don't go. Manager and owner could care less about the customer. Manager randomly turned the sound off to the game in the first half to put "dinner" music when the whole restaurant was there to see and "hear" the game. After multiple requests to turn the sound back on, the manager continued to send the poor bartenders over to claim the "owner" requested to put the random music on to get people to leave. Bartenders were great and feel sorry for them that they have an owner and manager that could care less about the patrons. Was a regular customer but wont be back again. read more

This place is Amazing, the food is phenomenal. My gf and I have gone multiple times. Get there early and dont be starving because there's always a wait. From a Tuesday late afternoon to a Saturday evening we've waited from 35mins to as much as an hour and a half. It is well worth the wait. So my only qualm is with the burger being cooked at medium, for some reason its comes quite rare on 2 of our visits. So we recommend medium well and it'll be perfect. The prices are not bad at all. We have tried at least a dozen items from the menu and have not been disappointed yet. Overall cozy atmosphere good food/drinks, Angel and Jules are awesome if you sit by the bar. read more

Formerly the Pilot House...stopped in for a quick bite on our way home...spontaneous (although we had eaten here before)...she had the grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries while I went for the classic burger with French fries...a bargain at $8 each...both were exceptional...Tina our wait served was sweet and attentive...I love the location because it overlooks a marina (former boater here)...too full for dessert...will definitely return someday! read more

I just don't understand. I was thinking third time would be the charm but was I wrong. We came in for lunch 2 of us sat at the back bar and it took the bartender 10 minutes plus to acknowledge us. It took another 10 minutes for our drinks and we ordered at the same time as we had her attention. Our orders were very simple 2 Cobb salads with Chicken 1 no onions. The order comes out and 1 salad has no chicken. The bartender comes over and apologizes and the chicken arrives 10 minutes later. We finish finally get the check and nothing from the bartender. I went to beacon 70 yesterday for dinner with my wife and let me tell you, great food, great server, and great atmosphere. We ordered two drinks, an appetizer, and dinners. Not a bad price either. Our server Morgan was funny, attentive and quick with our drinks and food. While waiting for a table we went outside and had a couple of drinks at the bar, the bartender when awesome. Went for late dinner at the bar with friend. The bartender wanna be UFC look with the beard had the personality of a doorknob and would be better off as a dishwasher or bar-back. Bartenders are supposed to smile and act like they care about anything. After we ordered our food and waited quite a long time for it to come out we realized once tasting it that it literally sat ready and prepared probably for an extra 10 minutes because the bartender ever was concerned at all about checking on it. The pizza and skirt steak was room temperature. Imagine getting a pizza at room temperature instead of coming out piping hot. I can go on and on about other issues with this place but I am busy and have things going on. Best of luck. Now I can understand how military veterans felt with their complaints. Ps. Not a good experience. Service was slow, my wife ordered a Rib eye steak, no steak knife was brought, we had both finished our drinks, and put the empty glasses at the end of the table and waited almost 10 minutes for him to come back after the food was delivered. Waiter didn't bring the food, another minion did, you'd think he'd stop by and see if everything was ok. A manager walked by our table with the empty glasses and did nothing or ask. He was to busy flirting and talking to the other waitresses. The buffalo bill burger was not buffalo at all. The fries were burnt and soggy... I dined at Beacon 70 twice when it first opened and found it to be quite mediocre. I decided to give this place another try, and not much has changed. I'm not quite sure what the architect and owner's had in mind when they designed this place, but it's still an over priced bar and grill in my opinion, dressed up in a fancy steam punk ambiance. This visit, my mother and I dined in the bar area. Our server was terrible. I'll leave her name out because she might have been new. No forks, knives, plates, water glasses not refilled, no pizza toppings, etc... She disappeared on multiple occasions and my mom and I waited for our food far too long. It wasn't even that crowded. We came around 5pm. I asked for decaf coffee. It was cold. I hate cold coffee. I feel bad saying all this, but I really hope she was new, because the experience was very unpleasant. Last visit (months ago) our server was very good, so Beacon is either doing a terrible job training their new servers or she was fresh on the job. Even so, there are basics. Friendly and professional service is very important. The bus boys and food runners, however, were excellent They were on top of their game!!! I say "bus boys" because I didn't see any girls. Ha. Anyhow, these guys were great. My mom gave one of them a tip when we left. He provided more service than our actual server. Another negative, (yes I'm starting with negatives), is the design of this place. I mentioned in my previous review that the dining area is built on a slant and I felt dizzy dining... as well as the tendency of glasses to just slide on the table.... lop sided! This time, in the bar area, we were at a table with odd grooves in it. I moved my water and boom it got stuck in a grove in the wood and fell over. I noticed many of the tables in the bar area were like that. Sure, it looks pretty, but I don't understand how this is practical. Some positives! We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip for an app. Last visit it was terrible. Watery, greasy. This time, however, it was not bad. A bit bland, but definitely not bad. I would order it again. My mother order a plain pizza pie. It was good, not great. We took home a few slices and my Dad concurred. Pizza = average. I ordered the "chopped salad with chicken." It was very fresh, large portion, and quite good. However, I could not taste the dressing. It was a lemon vinaigrette. I asked for it on the side , and still... not much flavor. I think this could be improved. The salad itself, was good. I'd order another dressing. Drinks. Mom ordered a Merlot from Chile, very good. A stella on draft, good. I had water and decaf coffee. Ha. Overall, this place has HUGE potential with it's beautiful ocean view, but it really just feels like an over priced place to order a burger and watch a game. I am still confused by the layout. Fancy coffee cups also don't replace cold coffee. Neither do grooves in a wooden table. Hmm. My advice is sit at the bar, order a burger, and come for drinks. You will be satisfied. Other than that, it's 3 stars. Average. Expensive. A- OK. I wish them luck. read more

ehhhh.....this place could be so much better. I love the sangria and the restaurant itself is really beautiful....especially the waterfront ambiance. They could have done w/o the fireplaces all over the place....sure they are pretty to look at but everyone at my table had rosy cheeks from getting over-heated in a packed restaurant. The bar pie was decent. Also lots of GF options which was nice. So here's my disappointment: service was terrible from the hostesses to the waitresses. There are two really large bars but still no place to stand in an over-packed restaurant. Note to management: Create some standing room space around the bar area: ) Also the food has some room for improvement. The restaurant is so nice I felt like the quality of the food did not match it. This place is amazing, might be the best sports bar I've ever been to. Awesome waterfront location, great service, and great people. The food is affordable and they offer daily discounts and happy hour specials. There are TV's everywhere you look and multiple bars, making it easy to find a good spot to hang. The jerseys of Todd Frazier, Ron Marinaccio, and a poster of Frankie Edgar (all Toms River raised athletes) are displayed on the wall, so this place knows how to celebrate its own. I came here over the summer with a friend. Crowd was okay. Most people were very casually dressed while others did more of a business casual thing. Crowd was on the older side - probably 40+ the night I came, and aside from a pretty even male/female split - lacked diversity of any sort. Prices for drinks were on the high side for Brick, but I work in NYC. These were not NYC prices. My glass of Pinot Grigio was $15 and I think that was the most expensive glass of wine on the menu. Cocktails are under $20. The food was hit or miss. Nothing spectacular that I'd have to get again, but nothing so terrible that I was disgusted. I ordered chilled lobster that came with really delicious cocktail sauce and chips & guacamole. The guacamole was not good at all. Way too many tomatoes - (which I don't believe belong in guacamole - period) and not enough lime, jalapeños or salt. My friend ordered calamari that was bland and definitely not crispy enough, and she also ordered tuna bruschetta that was really delicious. Ate here while staying at my buddies house last weekend. Great choice. We got there at 5:30 and were seated right away. This is billed as a Sports Bar, I think the name comes from the fact that they have 70 big screens suspended all around the place. Anyway, the staff is very friendly and efficient and answered our questions and made suggestions without hesitation. The food is top notch as are the drinks. I had a side of Mac and cheese to start- It was great ate every last bite! I opted for a Cobb salad with grilled shrimp it was quite large and I didn't finish but it was delicious- they have some great salad in the menu. The wings looked absolutely amazing although I didn't try them, they came with a two thumbs up review. Burger was cooked to perfection. The food was not as good as normal on a Subday brunch. we were there at 10:00 and the bagels were hard and there were fruit flies all around. came here tonight and arrived about 6:15. There was a 45 minute wait but we figured we can have a drink and appetizer at the bar and we'll be good. If I had to rate each category/aspect of the bar individually it would be as follows: - atmosphere: 5 - really great and well done in terms of how they revamped the restaurant and bar. There are two bar areas, in-wall fire pits, nice seating and a big restaurant. Miles above what was there previously - bartenders: 3 - half and half. The bartender we had may have been New but he didn't know anything about the menu. Couldn't tell us which bourbons he had. He also couldn't tell us what was on happy hour and looked totally confused when we asked. The others seemed great. - bars: 4.5 - there are two with ample seating. They offered a happy hour which was nice and the full menu. We ordered drinks and nachos which were great! Would definitely order again. Prompt service all around despite being a little amateur - service (server): 5 - once seated our server was great. Attentive and did his best. - service (kitchen): negative 100000000 - we ordered soup, a couple salads, sliders, and a side order of fries and veggies. It took over an hour. It was awful. We sat there between soup and a salad for like 50 minutes and finally had to tell the server we needed to go. They brought the food out and we wrapped it up. He said they are backed up but reading the reviews it seems like a pattern. I have no problem waiting for food but it took forever for salads and sliders! Just doesn't make sense. I would definitely go back for drinks and appetizers at the bar. Would think twice before sitting down for a dinner. It's not a "hang out forever and enjoy a slow paced meal" place. The menu is pretty basic, although the food is good. Not sure what the issue was but it was frustrating to say the least. Also, I ordered two of the same drinks while at the table and they were vastly different. No consistency. In fact, I had to send the second one back.
